Some of you may remember back a couple of seasons I go I would run the rankings script and post some thoughts. Well, I think I am going to bring it back this season, see what I can do.

1. It might just be me, but Alpha seems much tougher than Zeta.

Again, it might just because RToF is in Alpha. To go along with the 8 playoff teams from a season ago you have Kai, Alpine and RToF. All of which won their league. And were 3 of the best pro teams last season. It is going to be a nasty fight in alpha. I am really looking forward to it.

2. A break down of teams by geographical/Pro League affiliation.

USAPL - 6 (2 Alpha, 4 Zeta)
CPL- 5 (4 Alpha, 1 Zeta)
EEPL- 5 (1 Alpha, 4 Zeta)
APL- 5 (2 Alpha, 3 Zeta)
OPL -4 (2 Alpha, 2 Zeta)
WEPL- 3 (3 Alpha, 0 Zeta)
SAPL- 2 (1 Alpha, 1 Zeta)
SEAPL- 2 (1 Alpha, 1 Zeta)

Conversely, it seems that SEAPL and SAPL will be the toughest pro leagues to promote out of. Seems like it is just part of a cycle.

3. WL Fantasy, Great Idea.
I can see this being something that Bort picks up and makes it a part of the game like AA's League contest. It will be interesting to watch play out and adds a whole new dimension to the game, maybe something that is needed!

5. Surprise teams to watch out for this season.

By surprise teams, I really mean teams that have not really made their mark on the WL before. Semarang, Kai, RToF, or any previous playoff team doesn't really count.

Alpha- Timpanogos Thunder
Considering there are only really two teams to choose from in Alpha, I am going with TT. They have a great ground game and control the clock and the ball, something that is important up here. I once said that if you gave me the Rushing yards and TOP for a game, I could tell you who won the game 97% of the time.

Zeta- BLACK OPS 7
Zeta seems to be a little more wide open. Black Ops has a great DC and some good dots, would not be surprised at all to see them go 10-6 and surprise some of the big teams. Obviously, I could be very wrong

Games of the week

Since we have the inter-conference games being played today, I can't really go by conference like I normally would.

Canton Immortals vs. Lincoln Navigators
This, is by far the game of the week, the other 15 seem to lack some sexiness. I am going with Lincoln based on nothing more than a guess.

I think overall Alpha is going to be the toughest fight getting into the playoffs and staying in WL, their are going to be some really really good teams going back to Pro.

Zeta however is where some powerhouses are and imo will produce the WL champion this season.

It all gets underway in a few hours!

Are you saying Semarang, Kai and RToF have made a mark on WL at some point?

Eff Level/ SP Value Rankings, the thing about the SP rankings are they are currently skewed by non-archetype oline teams vs teams how have converted to archetype olines. I thought having the archetype Oline would be a disadvantage due to strength discrepancies. Im actually starting to think its an advantage because 1) archetypes have multi trained 2) I believe Bort has a stealth nerf on the non-archetype high strength oline guys.

Ya, 2 agility > 1 strength on an o-line dot, but the SP formula probably doesn't agree.

The top 4 in each conference every season is roughly the same. The main difference this season seems that alpha will be tougher to make the playoffs in which is huge. I think lincoln/hood/blaze/sofia will make the playoffs no worries but i'm not sure anyone feels fully comfortable in alpha except maybe hhwc, canton, odessa but even then odessa and hhwc came sorta close to demoting recently. Hopefully, there will be a league structure change next season to give the talented teams who will have to demote something to do next season

You seem confused... Alpha also has Moose who just promoted and Indy who also promoted. Thunder and Terrorists are the only new guys to WL in alpha and, from what I've seen, they are surprisingly not terrible.

No question alpha is going to be a blood bath and at least 6 GREAT teams are going home for another 16-0 sleeper.
