The playmaker league is an off shoot of Ironman and Sandlot leagues. We're looking at doing a reboot this off season and open to new teams joining.

While not as competitive as gold east it's a relatively challenging league.

Only 11 human dots are allowed on the roster plus a kicker or punter. 10 of the 11 dots must be non-boosters. None of the 11 can wear CE. Basically you can use your free dot as your one booster and field a full team for under 3k flex depending on the positions you choose.

Because you only have 11 dots every dot plays every down both sides of the ball, yes they get tired and slow, but we play peewee we're used to slow dots. It adds a whole new dimension to build strategy and game planning.

For those of you who still want a challenge but are tired of shelling out big bucks boosting and buying CE every season come try out the Playmaker league.

These ironman leagues are really fun for those who actually prefer to coach.

Instead of just plugging in a handful of offensive plays that everyone is running, you can actually gameplan and find exploits. The other team will be rolling with some out of position players, so find those guys and how they're used on defense and have success. You can actually use the whole playbook again.

If you like strategic coaching, they're great leagues. Not to mention it provides a new player-building challenge.

How does it work? It's not like you can guarantee that every team in the league will follow the Playmaker rules? Or is this done via scrimmages?

Probably scrimmages. Then if the team cheats they're disqualified.

Teams are specifically built for this league. It's not a tournament that you can just enroll your standard team. All games are played through scrimmages. But typically we've bought teams in the same league and often use bort games as part of the schedule. The team roster only has 11 human dots. Bort forces 40 dots on a roster so the rest are CPU dots and the team must set the depth chart so that no CPU dots see the field. It's easy to look at a game recap and see if CPU dots played.

This also means that you are committed to your playmaker, if you choose a run QB you'll dominate early, but come playoff time he can be shut down even with the level advantage.

This also means you have to pick your poison because the out of position penalty will kill ya. If you create 11 O dots your defense will blow and vice versa. You create 11 dots and they are each built to play at least two positions. Then on D what do you do when you have to face a 5WR formation and you only have 1 CB and 1 WR playing CB. Do you pull in a LB or HB? Or do you scout their offense and notice that they have slow D linemen playing WR 4 and 5 and not worry about those routes.

Here is my team from this past season:

Another unintended consequence is your dots have a huge chance of getting the MVP. Check out zeta MVPs in this league:

More than half of the top ten in each category are from playmaker league teams, 3 of the 4 MVPs are playmaker dots and the runner up to the fourth is a playmaker dot.

There isn't really a way to cheat. But as teams get started it's not uncommon to have mistakes in the depth chart and CPU dots get playing time. These games are usually made up later in the season.

I love scouting at the beginning of the season and finding that team that didn't carry any linebackers and just knowing that my TE is going to catch 13 passes for 270 yards.
