Season 3 Week 7 Rankings for USA #7 (Western Conference)
I could use some help doing these, so if any of the owners/GM's or even people on the team could PM me what you thought went right and wrong in your games (like what I've done here), it would save me a bunch of time. Thanks
Disclaimer: I am the owner of the New Brunswick n00bs and this is only my opinion based upon how the teams looked when I saw them
Week 7 Summary: Las Vegas’ win over Buffalo put a huge dent into Buffalo’s bid for a home playoff spot. It’s still possible, but there are now things out of their control. Dallas’ continued slide puts their playoff hopes at extreme risk and another 1-2 losses could dash those hopes early. Hartford won the relegation battle and has created some breathing room for itself and could muddy up the picture if they pull off some upsets
5 games into the season, the conference is beginning to stratify itself into 4 tiers:
Tier 1 (Fighting for top seed): Waco, Great Plains
Tier 2 (Fighting for home playoff game): New Brunswick, Las Vegas, Buffalo, Silverymoon
Tier 3 (Fighting to get into the playoffs): Portland, Oakland, Spicewood, Scottsdale, Miami Dallas, Hartford
Tier 4 (Trying to avoid relegation): Grand Haven, RGB, Carolina
1. Great Plains Reapers
2. Waco Davidians
3. New Brunswick n00bs
4. Las Vegas Stunners
5. Silverymoon Elves
6. Buffalo Rangers
7. Portland Hitmen
8. Oakland Wizards
9. Spicewood Longhorns
10. Scottsdale Sun Demons
11. Miami Cyclones
12. Dallas Red Raiders
13. Hartford Hellhounds
14. Grand Haven Mist
15. RGB Berzerk
16. Carolina Bar Stars
1. Great Plains Reapers - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1212
What went right: Kicker – In an amazing display of consistency and strength, the Reapers’ kicker boosted the heck out of the ball, making all 6 of his 48+ yard field goals and booming some kick-offs. With teams so close together, a solid kicker is an invaluable asset and could be the reason why the Reapers are quickly becoming the team to beat.
What went wrong:QB Play? – While they were able to move the ball down the field on the ground, the Reapers had some trouble moving it consistently through the air. While they didn’t throw too many INTs, the QBs had a pretty mediocre completion rate.
Recent Game: W 39-9 vs Spicewood
Record: 7-0
Previous Rank: 1
Next Game: at Carolina Bar Stars
2. Waco Davidians - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1220
What went right: Offense – This was just a sick display of firepower all around. Both the passing and running game showed up and the Davidians were able to score in all different ways. A7 hasn’t seen a team break out like this since Las Vegas beat Ambridge last season 93-0.
What went wrong: Buttery Fingers – With the HB fumbling twice and the TEs accounting for all 3 dropped passes, there’s a mild cause for concern in a tougher game. The ramifications of those small mistakes really didn’t amount to much in this game, but if it continues, there should be cause for concern.
Recent Game: W 96-0 vs Carolina
Record: 7-0
Previous Rank: 2
Next Game: at New Brunswick n00bs
3. New Brunswick n00bs - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1210
What went right: Defense – Miami only got past midfield a few times during the entire game and never really threatened to score. Miami’s running and passing game never gained traction due to the n00bs defense. Add on to the fact that the defense forced 4 turnovers and the n00bs defense was pretty dominant.
What went wrong: Red Zone Offense – It’s never a good sign when the only scoring in the game is from the kicker and most of his kicks are within the red zone. The n00bs inability to get into the end zone is starting to be a concern and they’ll need to fix it if they hope to stay within the upper echelon of the conference.
Recent Game: W 18-0 at Miami
Record: 7-0
Previous Rank: 3
Next Game: vs Waco Davidians
4. Las Vegas Stunners - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1219
What went right: This Play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=7677555 – For the 2nd straight game, Las Vegas’ change in fortune can be boiled down to one play. While the Stunners did plenty of other positive things, this one play changed the tenor of the game. Tied 3-3 after missing a great opportunity for a TD, this INT and run set the Stunners up for the only TD of the game and helped them to a lead that they never gave up.
What went wrong: Pass Offense – In this game, the pass offense was a huge liability with 2 INTs and a paltry 3.9 yds/attempt. The reason why the game was so close was because the Stunners had trouble gaining yardage through the air and couldn’t move the ball down the field consistently.
Recent Game: W 22-12 at Buffalo
Record: 5-2
Previous Rank: 4
Next Game: vs Grand Haven Mists
5. Silverymoon Elves - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1663
What went right: Front seven – The Elves front seven caused all sorts of problems for the Dallas O-line. They put immense amounts of pressure on the QB and stuffed up the Dallas run game rendering them incapable of getting into the endzone.
What went wrong: Turnovers – Even with minimal pressure by the Dallas defense, the Elves’ QB continued on his horrid INT streak by tossing 5 more INTs. On top of that, the Elves put the ball on the ground 4 times, but were lucky enough to fall on the balls. The Elves sloppy style of play is a bit of a concern and could cause unexpected losses.
Recent Game: W 22-6 at Dallas
Record: 5-2
Previous Rank: 6
Next Game: vs Buffalo Rangers
6. Buffalo Rangers - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1702
What went right: Pass Defense – The Rangers’ secondary did a great job shutting down the receivers and preying upon the mistakes of the Stunners’ QBs. In doing so they were able to keep the game close throughout.
what went wrong:Turnovers – Besides the devastating INT thrown, the fumble of an INT in the 4th quarter turned a scoring opportunity into points for Las Vegas. The Rangers can’t afford these types of mistakes against quality teams and will have to figure out a way to play mistake-free football if they hope to be near the top.
Recent Game: L 12-22 vs Las Vegas
Record: 4-3
Previous Rank: 5
Next Game: at Silverymoon Elves
7. Portland Hitmen - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1211
Contributor: rj414
What went right: Pass offense. Johnny Danger teed off on Scottsdale, completing 70% for 353.5 yards and 2 touchdowns. He had an especially nauseating love affair with his usual squeeze, Dick N. Balzonia to account for nearly half of those yards and both touchdowns. The one dark spot of Portland's aerial assault was the backup QB, Chapstick Vick, who's 5 attempts could probably have been put to better use.
What went wrong: Fumbles - Portland put the ball on the ground 4 times in this game. They only lost one and they probably could have lost all 4 and still won, but this is a scary trend with several of the top defenses still on the schedule.
Recent Game: W 43-7 at Scottsdale
Record: 5-2
Previous Rank: 7
Next Game: vs Miami Cyclones
8. Oakland Wizards - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1215
Contributor: rj414
What went right: Pass Defense - The stalwart defenders of Oakland kept Grand Haven's passing offense below 40 percent completions, harrassed Rocket Arm Kimball with 7 hurries and a sack, and produced 2 interceptions. Only 118 yards and 0 tds allowed as well. Grand Haven came into this game hoping to lean on their passing game, and it was rendered useless by the Wizards.
What went wrong: Red Zone offense. Oakland scored 4 TDs in this game, but only one was made by the offense inside the 20. The others were big pass plays and an INT return - and Oakland Kicker Seth Logan had to blast 7 field goals as a result.
Recent Game: W 48-6 vs Grand Haven
Record: 4-3
Previous Rank: 8
Next Game: at RGB Berzerk
9. Spicewood Longhorns - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1214
What went right: Kicker – In a game that highlighted one of the less celebrated positions, the Longhorns’ kicker matched up with one of the premier kickers in the league and booted 2 50+ yarders in a game that featured some truly impressive kicking feats. Unfortunately for the Longhorns, all the offensive fireworks came off the foot of the kicker and was contained to just the first half.
What went wrong: Turnovers – On top of relative offensive futility, the Longhorns really shot themselves in the foot in this game with 3 turnovers. When facing a team of Great Plains’ caliber where even the smallest mistakes will be exploited, 3 major turnovers will pretty much kill an opponent’s chances to win. Spicewood will need to keep the ball in their possession more if they hope to knock off the teams above them.
Recent Game: L 9-39 at Great Plains
Record: 3-4
Previous Rank: 9
Next Game: vs Dallas Red Raiders
10. Scottsdale Sun Demons - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1225
Contributor: rj414
What went right: Punting - Scottsdale had a rough day, but their punter lit it up. 9 punts at a healthy 35.3 average - Pierna Gigante may be the most consistent player on the Sun Demons.
What went wrong: Ball Control. Scottsdale ran 40 plays to portlands 102. The offense's inability to stay on the field severly handicapped the defense, allowing Portland's backs to put up big numbers late in the game as the Scottsdale D got tired.
Recent Game: L 7-43 vs Portland
Record: 2-5
Previous Rank: 10
Next Game: at Hartford Hellhounds
11. Miami Cyclones - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1955
What went right: Pass Defense – The Cyclones tipped a lot of balls and really caused the n00bs’ QB to have a tough day throwing. By forcing an inconsistent passing game, the Cyclones were able to limit the damage done through the air and keep the game close.
What went wrong: Offense – Everything that the Cyclones tried to do offensively got effectively shut down. Both through the air and on the ground, the Cyclones got forced into turnovers and were continually stuffed and pressured.
Recent Game: L 0-18 vs New Brunswick
Record: 2-5
Previous Rank: 12
Next Game: at Portland Hitmen
12. Dallas Red Raiders - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1217
What went right: Run and Pass Defense – For all intents and purposes the Red Raider defense did a very solid job containing the Elves’ defense. The Elves had trouble breaking through the defense on run and pass plays. Unfortunately, due to the offensive issues, the defense just wasn’t enough to hold the Elves at bay for long enough.
What went wrong: Offensive Futility – Once again, the Red Raiders were done in with a combination of a poor running performance and a pile of turnovers. The lethal combination of a poor running game and turnovers has been the Achilles heel for Dallas and the sole reason why they’re now in a tough spot.
Recent Game: L 6-22 vs Silverymoon
Record: 1-6
Previous Rank: 11
Next Game: at Spicewood Longhorns
13. Hartford Hellhounds - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1216
Contributor: rj414
What went right: The game ball goes to Hartford's defense. Although they were admittedly assisted some by RGB's baffling yet unsurprising play selection, Hartford held the Berzerks to 209 yards of total offense, including just 136.5 passing on 46 attempts. RGB was dangerously close to being the second team to average more on the ground than through the air this week.
What went wrong: Butterfingers - although they only lost 1, the Hellhounds fumbled 3 times in this football game. They will have to take better care of the football when they face some of the conferences heavy hitters. You can't afford to fumble against the likes of Waco, Great Plains, New Brunswick, and Las Vegas.
Recent Game: W 19-3 at RGB
Record: 2-5
Previous Rank: 14
Next Game: vs Scottsdale Sun Demons
14. Grand Haven Mist - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1222
Contributor: rj414
What went right: Recievers. Rocket Arm had a miserable day, but he cant blame his crew of recievers. The only Grand Haven drop was by HB Richard Stevenson - all of the other passes that ended up in the same hemisphere as the wide recievers were held in this game.
What went wrong: Rocket Arm Kimball. Grand Haven's QB was perhaps their biggest offseason acquisition, but after 5 games he may have become their biggest liability. In a game where Grand Haven needed their QB to step up, he sat down, popped open a beer, and passed out on the couch - to the tune of 20/50 (40%) for 118 yards, 0 tds, and 2 ints. When you get more yards per attempt from your running game than your passing game, you know you have a problem. Grand Haven needs to get Kimball going if they are to have success in this league.
Recent Game: L 6-48 at Oakland
Record: 1-6
Previous Rank: 13
Next Game: at Las Vegas Stunners
15. RGB Berzerk - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1223
Contributor: rj414
What went right: Rush Defense. They held hartford below 3 yards per carry, and the only missed tackle of a hartford running back was on a kick return. Hartford's inability to rush made it tough for them to score, and helped keep this game within reason.
What went wrong: Pass Defense. While their brethren in the front seven toiled and played their guts out, the RGB secondary took a nap. Every tackle missed in this game by RGB was missed by a defensive back, and Hartford's QB went on a drunken binge of football tossing to the tune of 315 yards and no ints.
AWOOGA WATCH: A7's most underutilized weapon got 16 carries today, just 7 shy of his season high of 23. Interestingly enough - RGB is undefeated over the past 2 seasons in games in which Awooga gets more than 20 carries.
Recent Game: L 3-19 vs Hartford
Record: 1-6
Previous Rank: 15
Next Game: vs Oakland Wizards
16. Carolina Bar Stars - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=734
What went right:Punter – Once again MEAT! BomB had a stellar performance on what was otherwise a tough game to swallow. With a whopping 38.1 yd/punt average, he was the Stars most effective defensive weapon.
What went wrong: Tackling – The Stars’ defense just had a tough time bringing down the Davidians’ receivers and backs allowing them to gain extra yardage. As the Bar Stars’ defense begins to improve and cut down on these mistakes, they will be tougher to score on. But for this game, they took their lumps and can just learn from it.

Prediction:
Predicted Score:
#5 Silverymoon vs #6 Buffalo
Both these teams should be playoff bound, but this matchup will determine who will still be vying for a home playoff spot. These BBB promotion teams will also be fighting for the pride of the leagues that they’ve been promoted from. It should be an interesting matchup.
Prediction: Silverymoon’s offensive inconsistency is a major concern in this game, but only if Buffalo can score enough points. This game will be another ugly one as the Elves can probably squeak this one out.
Predicted Score: 13-9 Elves
#7 Portland vs #11 Miami
Miami will try to show that it’s a solid team against Portland and not one that should be taken lightly. Meanwhile Portland is still trucking along near the top of the standings due to its offensive weapons. If they can win this game, they’ll continue to put pressure on the other teams to win.
Prediction: Portland’s passing game will be too much for Miami to handle and Miami’s defense will be broken a bit in this game.
Predicted Score: 31-6 Portland
#9 Spicewood vs #12 Dallas
Can Dallas finally notch another win? After losing some heartbreakers, Dallas will need to get off the mat immediately before the hopes of a playoff are completely snuffed out. They’ll need to take out Spicewood to do it. Spicewood is also on the outside looking in and a loss to Dallas could be devastating.
Prediction: Spicewood has had a tough last 2 games and could have trouble against Dallas’ defense. This game will hinge on Dallas’ offense and their ability to cut down on mistakes. They should be able to do it this game.
Predicted Score: 27-13 Dallas

When you get more yards per attempt from your running game than your passing game, you know you have a problem. Grand Haven needs to get Kimball going if they are to have success in this league.
