Texan’s Week 10 Picks
Usual disclaimer: this is my opinion only. If you don’t like it, I still love you.
Welcome to fps week, featuring some of the best fps games, new and old.
Picks record this season: 96-48
lolAlpha
Game of the Week
Dallas Longhorns (7-2) v Cincinnati (6-3)
This GoTW features one of the hottest teams in the league and winners of 4 straight against a very good team that just lost their fist two games and in a row. While Cincy’s playoff Half-Life http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbY1lSPj4KU is skyrocketing, Dallas needs to find a way to recover. Will it be this week? Cincy 38, Dallas 28
Other Games
Machu Picchu Hidden Dragons (8-1) v Moosejaw Roughriders (2-7)
It’s gotta feel good for MJ to be back in the win column again, even if it’s against a massively under-achieving TSW team. For MPHD, they pick up their first loss. Now we just need to see if that’ an anomaly or if aging spells Doom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQjC7C-IbW0 for their title chances. MPHD 42, MJ 17
Odessa Mojo (8-1) v Tyrrhenian Sea Wasps (0-9)
Mojo is rocking alpha nowadays and looking like a strong contender for another title. Will they be the next dynasty? Their whole group has to feel a Call of Duty http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKhk6g_Zhkg&playnext=1&list=PLA1EBE313B6E7CBB9 to make that happen. Obviously that is not the case for TSW. Odessa 56, TSW 3
Korb Destroyers (7-2) v The Drunken Addicts of Omerta (3-6)
While Omerta is quickly fallen off the map with 3 straight losses, Korb is right on track to get done what they need done. While Omerta has certainly been competitive and not to be counted out, they would basically have to call in Duke Nukem http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I-3uj0FrGw to get this one done. Korb 35, Omerta 16
Nashville Hounds (5-4) v E-City Mercenaries (5-4)
These two teams really have a lot in common. They have the same winning record in the same conference and yet no one seems to believe in either one of them for some reason. One of them keeps winning here and the other, um, doesn’t. Losing and going to .500 will be a real Bioshock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgmpf3ZGORw for one of them. ECM 30, Nashville 28
Lincoln Navigators (5-4) v C-Town MF’n Hood (4-5)
Much like in a pulp novel, Hood was left for dead and clawed their way back civilization on two bloody stumps and a two game winning streak. Unfortunately for them they’re probably caught an even hotter team’s attention in Lincoln. Just don’t ask rusty what kind of shower gave him that Goldeneye http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqW8KdnQ-gk Lincoln 31, Hood 24
Krungthep Garudas (4-5) v Carthage Mad Clash (3-6)
After losing 3 straight it may have been tempting to write off the Garudas but obviously that would be a mistake at this point. Hell, Carthage is only 2 games out of a playoff spot themselves and could go on a run. I’m expecting fool to conduct some Black Ops http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRh9MtnEurc on Carthage and get this one done. Garudas 27, Carthage 21
Milwaukee Juggernaughts (3-6) v Sumatra Seahawks (2-7)
Two more teams that have a lot in common. They were both once hot teams very early in the season that have both become two of the coldest in the league. One of them gets to warm up a little here though. We’ll see which can Counter Strike http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsPsvuQ13vo against their respective cold streak. Juggs 34, Sumatra 24

Game of the Week
Paris Musketeers (8-1) v Canton Immortals (7-2)
An easy GoTW choice as it’s a flat out battle for first place at this point in the season. Winner takes sole possession, either by record for Paris or head to head tie-breaker for Canton. Paris I’m sure misses that Halo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soJGiKVvyoM in the L column, but that’s not coming back and they need to get back to work. Will it be Canton or Paris that proves doubters wrong yet again? Paris 38, Canton 35
Other Games
Rosarica Titan of Fire (6-3) v Sofia Spiders (5-4)
Sofia got to recover from their 3 game losing streak, although not in impressive fashion against TKW. Despite that they find themselves right in the playoff picture. RTF meanwhile keeps winning and has 4 straight quality Ws. They’ve won with both offense and defense in different games during that time and have looked pretty Unreal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1Y6BOZ3sZo in the process. RTF 42, Sofia 30
Honolulu Hurricane Wife Carriers (6-3) v Palembang Royally Drunken Monks (2-7)
HHWC is once again on track and treating their opponents like grapes in a wine factory. The hard-luck Monks meanwhile looked like they might climb back into the periphery of the playoff picture but lost a tough decision to Providence. Don’t expect the Monks to Quake http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Et3UByMSmg4 with fear here but do expect them to lose. HHWC 31, Monks 17
Somalia Pirates (6-3) v Indianapolis Gurupies (5-3)
These two teams have basically traded places in the playoff scenario in Zeta and I get the feeling that Indy really needs to win this or they may be having severe regrets later in the season. Somalia is on a roll. Does Indy face a Day of Defeat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOkoB2KgynM or pull themselves to victory? Somalia 41, Indy 30
East St. Louis Tire Fires (5-4) v Queensland Exiles (2-7)
rusty is probably a bit annoyed by this point with ESL’s season thus far but despite that they’re well on track for the playoffs and then the real season begins. QE though seems lost having dropped 3 straight. Can they find themselves again? We’ll find out on the Battlefield http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qsxzRyrZ6E ESL 49, QE 20
Mayan Prophecy (5-4) v Krakow Ice Dragons (2-7)
Much like the Monks, KID is 2-7 and still fighting hard and coming close to winning, but just not quite getting it done. Never give up is what I say. Mayan actually lost to the Monks, but will they repeat that performance with KID? Better do some Ghost Recon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5e3_T9UqAs on KID or you could get whacked. Mayan 31, KID 20
Alpine (5-4) v Eastern European Alliance (5-4)
Alpine is in serious trouble having won 3 straight and dropped out of the top 8. Ya, that rhymed. EEA has the same record but has been more even. Whichever team loses will have dug themselves a bit of a hole that they need to climb out of in just a few games. Hey, if one of these teams don’t make the playoffs, at least they’ll have more time in Vegas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mgolUHhxFs for the off-season. Alpine 31, EEA 28
Providence Radicals (3-6) v Three Kingdom Warriors (0-9)
Don’t look now, but after gutting out a tough win over the Monks, Providence is only 2 games out of the playoff race and has an almost auto-win coming up with TKW. That would be an epic recovery for them and it’s not out of the question. Hey, No One Lives Forever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAa_KDYqm2s but Providence clearly isn’t ready to roll over and die just yet. Providence 52, TKW 10
