Texan’s Week 3 Picks
Usual disclaimer: this is my opinion only. If you don’t like it, I still love you.
Welcome to Western week. Thanks to Boomy for the idea and songs.
Picks record this season: 21-11

Game of the Week
Dallas Longhorns (2-0) v Odessa Mojo (2-0)
You gotta love two Texas-theme teams in the GoTW and battling for de-facto first place. Well, at least Texan likes it on the Western-themed week. This one might be under the bright stadium lights in Odessa but I’d be interested to see what would happen in a neutral location like El Paso http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn3JB51NH_M I’m expecting that big oil money to bus in some extra talent. Odessa 31, Dallas 28
Other Games
Korb Destroyers (2-0) v Tyrrhenian Sea Wasps (0-2)
Korb seems to have rectified their game 1 offensive woes, while TSW has had all kinds of woes that as of yet appear unresolved. TSW’s own home fans might be booing them in this one as their stadium feels locked up like Folsom Prison Blues http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDktBZzQIiU Korb 49, TSW 17
Machu Picchu Hidden Dragons (2-0) v Cincinnati Shockers (1-1)
This should be a good one. Cincy rolls into The House on The Hill in Machu Picchu having destroyed TSW and with a Krakow loss that no longer looks so bad. Games with MPHD tend to be low scoring and I’m not sure Cincy won’t feel Wanted Dead or Alive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VD3pBTK0oA by the time it’s over. MPHD 24, Cincy 17
Milwaukee Juggernaughts (1-1) v Carthage Mad Clash (0-2)
After looking not so good game 1, the Juggs rebounded by outgunning a fairly even-matched Nashville squad. Carthage’s D has at least looked solid but now they’re in an 0-2 hole. I expect them to come out firing like The Gambler http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z42avv3KBCU&feature=related because they don’t know when to fold ‘em. Carthage 28, Juggs 27
Sumatra Seahawks (1-1) v E-City Mercenaries (1-1)
Hey, 1-1 is not a bad start in this league and one of these teams will be getting back over .500 this week. Sumatra came pretty close to beating Canton before taking out Carthage and their D has been lights out, especially for this season. ECM’s win over ESL is looking a bit less impressive right now until ESL rights the ship anyway. Anything can happen though, it’s like the Wild Wild West http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L915AzgE5-4 up in here. Sumatra 30, ECM 24
C-Town MF’n Hood (1-1) v Moosejaw Roughriders (0-2)
MJ has been almost a WL fixture for a while now and always good but this season seems different, maybe because of all the changes. Hood clawed their way past Krungthep and looks to go back over .500 as I expect them to gun down MJ like High Plains Drifter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-f0510qYnk Hood 45, MJ 17
Nashville Hounds (1-1) v The Drunken Addicts of Omerta (1-1)
Time to find out which of these teams may have a more serious look at the playoffs this season, realizing that it’s still extremely early. Tbh, I have my doubts about Nashville, but expect them to Train Train http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-pqNtAfTMI&feature=related hard and compete here. Omerta 35, Nashville 21
Lincoln Navigators (1-1) v Krungthep Garudas (0-2)
These two teams have been involved in some damn close games so far this season and with this season’s sim so far, that is NOT the norm. Lincoln is a few points away from both 2-0 and 0-2, while Krungthep is 4 or 5 plays away from the same set of records. Game planning will decide who gets the Ectasy of Gold http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9YDCRJuYb4&feature=related in this one. Lincoln 30, Krungthep 28

Zeta
Game of the Week
Indianapolis Gurupies (2-0) v Sofia Spiders (2-0)
A very early battle for Zeta dominance begins at Sofia’s unnamed yet nacho-flowing stadium. Both teams have looked outstanding thus far but one of them is about to hang from the Gallows Pole http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Yn8dxCa4Mw for sure. A am a fan of Sofia’s stout D, but I don’t think they hold Indy under 30. Indy 35, Sofia 28
Other Games
Canton Immortals (2-0) v Queensland Exiles (1-1)
Canton has won two games by a total of six points, while QE’s only loss was a one touchdown affair. Much like I noted in the about Krungthep game, this is not normal for this season. I do think certain teams trend to that type of game and these are two of those teams. I’d need a Bounty Hunter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtGL_ZvT6cA to find the winner of this one tbh. QE 27, Canton 24
Paris Musketeers (2-0) v Palembang Royally Drunken Monks (0-2)
Paris is playing so good they’re bringing 11 Musketeers into Show Pony Palace instead of just 3 for nacho day...and those motherfuckers like nachos. The Monks have stayed close for 3 quarters in their first two games but faded late, so they may need to invoke the Ghostriders In The Sky http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvS4KqdJ3To to nail this one down. Paris 33, Monks 30
Krakow Ice Dragons (2-0) v Rosarica Titans of Fire (1-1)
I am going to be a bit gun shy the rest of the season if I decide to pick against Krakow again because they’ve already cost me two picks, and in convincing fashion, moving like Cowboys From Hell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_WZkCgeXWk all over the field. RTF’s D seems to need some work, but so do many. At any rate, you aren’t fooling me 3 times. KID 42, RTF 30
Somalia Pirates (1-1) v East St. Louis Tire Fires (0-2)
Somalia bounced back nicely from their Omerta beating last week while ESL hasn’t seemed to have figured out this season’s sim as of yet. I would be shocked if they don’t get that fixed soon, their roster looks sick to me. Which team is going to Cowboy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U6IyWGbNEo up in this one? ESL 38, Somalia 28
Honolulu Hurricane Wife Carriers (1-1) v Eastern European Alliance (1-1)
This one could have been GoTW in most weeks but it will have to settle for just being a really good game this time around. That initial power poll rating I gave to EEA isn’t looking so crazy right now and I have a feeling they’ll be back. HHWC however doesn’t usually stand for two straight losses and I expect them to storm into this game like a Midnight Rider http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyOD-ctLXv0 HHWC 17, EEA 16
Alpine (1-1) v Three Kingdom Warriors (0-2)
Alpine recovered from a heart-breaking loss and an early deficit in game 2 to pull out their first win in impressive fashion. TKW has yet to show much in the way of life thus far tbh. I’d rather go to La Grange http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3RLIU7T39I than watch the second half of this game. Alpine 45, TKW 20
Mayan Prophecy (0-2) v Providence Radicals (0-2)
One of these teams gets their first W and the other is in a big, big hole. Mayan has their D together, Providence has their O together, so which ones adds a second phase to this game? I expect Providence to come after mcallero like a Wanted Man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKU7AadwZ7o and empty all six chambers. Providence 35, Mayan 27
Usual disclaimer: this is my opinion only. If you don’t like it, I still love you.
