Warrior General Games

It's been a season full of some great games, a few upsets and some teams learning that Bort really did have it in for them when those teams were prematurely promoted to Pros.

At the end of it all we only have one undefeated team left with A7 hoping to take that streak right through the playoffs. We have two of the newest APL entrants this season joining the playoff race as well, Mega City and Cowbell. Guyana has really stepped it up this season after a strong campaign last season showed a lot of potential. One of our WL teams is still in the thick of it all and a contender for promotion.

All in all I would say this is looking to be one of the best playoff races yet with new blood and tons of old vets looking to move on up. With that said let's get to the picks.

FIRST ROUND
LION
Somalia vs Mega City
The Pirates took the regular season game by a score of 55-10. They are ranked 1st in every conference ranking except for rush defense, although 2nd isn't that bad either. They're also one of my favorites to go all the way. This is going to be a daunting task for the Monsters and I don't see this ending any differently than it did week 16. Pirates win, big.

CWE vs Zambezi
Again, this game was just played in week 16 and the Elephants took that one. CWE has a great offense and an opportunistic defense. That alone should see them advance to the next round.

Guyana vs San Diego
The Punch pack quite a wallop with a strong offense and a defense that's just as good. They were an early dark horse candidate for me but they can't be seen as an underdog after the season they had. Both of these teams moved up last season but right now they seem to be heading in different directions.

Philly vs Lincoln
It's hard to think of a 10-6 team as having struggled this season but I expected more from the Saints this season. Philly seems to be content with where they are and now that the playoffs are kicking off I expect to see some tricks up their sleeves. Last time they took this matchup by 1 point so they can't just rest on their laurels and expect to advance. I see Philly taking this by a much larger margin this time.


ELEPHANT
A7 vs Cowbell
I like what Cowbell has done this season but I feel like that week 16 7 point loss to A7 was not indicative of how this game will go at all. A7 always holds things back in preparation for the playoffs and I have to believe the team that went undefeated will stay that way at least one more week.

Warriors vs SoA
Both teams have some impressive stats to their name but damn if the Warriors defense hasn't put up more points this season than some of the lesser teams. Last time around the Sons lost by 6 and this game is probably one of the closest matchups in Elephant. Could go either way and, since I need an upset pick this week, I'm going with the Sons to squeak one out.

Nairobi vs RMT
Not much doubt in my mind that the Thunder have the talent but they have been off all season and drawing Nairobi in the first round is not exactly going to give them much room to make mistakes. Warthogs take this one handily.

CMC vs ICB
ICB is consistently one of the top teams around here but I feel like Carthage is going to slowly leak out some new tricks on a weekly basis as they try to work their way back to the WL.
