Missed a few games of the playoffs but I had to take a few days away from the game as a temporary rage quit.

A lot has gone down so far throughout the playoffs. In Lion, we saw the expected teams advance with no real upsets in the first round. The second round saw the first and second seeds advance in strong fashion as they both dominated their opponents. Most surprising was the manhandling Somalia had over Philly. That leaves us with Canton and Somalia ready to duke it out for the rights to move on to WL.

Over in Elephant, the first round saw one of the biggest upsets I can recall in my few seasons in APL with ABD knocking off the #1 seeded ICB. The second round saw an early season favorite in TAP advancing past SoA while the Warriors came out and shut out ABD to move forward. Now TAP will face the Warriors and the winner will have the privilege of moving on to WL.

Let's take a look at these two matchups.

LION
Canton vs Somalia
Way back at the beginning of the season I had Canton and Somalia ranked 1 & 5 respectively. Canton was coming off a big season that ended in disappointment. Somalia, after being promoted a little too early (i think in S18), looked ready to break out and I felt this would finally be the season they did it.

Question is can the Pirates take down the juggernaut that Canton has been this season? Canton has put up some sick offensive numbers (almost 13,000 total yards and over 1700 points) as they have decimated every team they faced this seasons. The defense has given up just over 100 points and stifled every team they played against.

Somalia had a great season themselves as the only loss was to Canton but it was also a huge loss. It's hard to ignore that loss but harder still to imagine any team being able to slow down Canton enough to stay in the game with them.

You never know how the sim will bounce so the Pirates have a shot still. I've seen some big upsets after 20 seasons so it wouldn't be the first. The odds are definitely in Cantons favor though and this should go down as another big win for the Immortals as they continue their path to the WL – much to everyone's pleasure.

ELEPHANT
TAP vs Warriors
On the flip side, we have the Predators going up against the Warriors. Looking back again at my initial rankings I had TAP at 4th and Warriors 8th. I said anything less than the LC game would be a disappointment for TAP and here they are. I also stated that the Warriors were on the cusp of greatness if they could get it together this season and it looks like they have done that.

The Warriors took the regular season matchup 31-20 and one has to wonder if that will be the same outcome this time around. But this team wasn't tearing it up when they lost 3 in a row to end the season. They've also had what I consider to be the much easier path through the playoffs.

TAP looks to have the overall better team going into this one and I think they'll step up and prove just how much better tomorrow. Either way, one of these teams will have to face Canton next week. And, outside of Canton throwing the game since nothing matters at that point, that is not a game I see either team excelling in (although I also believe TAP matches up against Canton better than the Warriors do).

Good news is I'll have a player in the League Championship game.

Best of luck to the final 4 and Somalia.

I was talking to some people about how I expected APL to get better in the future as Elephant is already very deep, and Lion is very young. Somalia is just going to get better. San Diego will be peaking as well. Guyana is still 2 seasons away, and already competing with the best in the Conference. Throw in the Nile Rivers and TGRs and the future looks good. For the first time in a while, I'm not hearing about 5-7 playoff teams gutting at the end of the year. Uganda is the only one I know of. I hope everyone else sticks around and continues to get better.

Thanks as always e!

p.s. why you mini-rage quit?

+1

Last 2-3 seasons have been brutal with gutting teams and it brings up teams that just aren't ready. Next season looks very bright for both conferences with most teams returning. I hear even ABD is sticking around for another season.

Few reasons. Mainly the fact that my team lost in the first round thanks to 3 forced fumbles. The sim does what the sim wants sometimes lol.

Then I've been dealing with this owner of another team that refuses to cut my player so that I can retire him. The guy's been a complete a-hole to most of the agents all season long. Unfortunately, he sent out extensions and I accidentally hit accept contract instead of reject contract so now the dot is stuck there even though I want to retire him. Not to mention I told him he's just going to be wasting a roster spot because I have no intention of boosting or training the dot any further.

Couple of other things that I won't go into much detail about but sometimes it's just nice if people would listen when you give warnings about RPP and things to that effect.

It also looks like several WL teams are coming back. List of recent WL teams back in APL next season could be: WWR, Carthage, Nairobi, BSSI, D9. So barring reboots and mergers, add the three WL teams to the mix in an already tough group. Elephant looks like it might have 4 teams who were in the WL in the past 2 seasons in the same division next season.

That's because they always seem to drop from WL to Elephant

GTFO of Elephant now while you can!

I gotta restock my roster... so WWR won't be its usual dominant force.
