The TE doesn't catch the ball, but suddenly it flies 6 yards back towards the QB where it's intercepted. It wasn't deflected or knocked loose. So why in the world would the ball do that?

Even if it was deflected or knocked loose, 6 yards (18 feet!) is a long way for the ball to fly back toward the quarterback. Seriously...have somebody throw a football at you with a fair amount of zip behind it and try to swat the ball back towards the thrower w/o catching it and throwing it. I don't think you'll get 6 yards.

And this isn't a complaint...we won the game, this just isn't good physics.

woah. Somethin' weird going on here. Anyone got any more examples of the ball going this far? also, it looks like the ball accelerates out from the TE...also weird

Honestly.

I think this play looks buggy, but I think realistically what happened is as follows.

In the actual simulation, the ball was dropped by the TE, and defenders near the ball get the last roll for the interception. In reality for the sim, the player who intercepted the pass was likely a lot closer to the point of origin.

The replay looks pretty messed up, but as it has been said many times before, the most buggy replays come from turnover replays. IE, teleporting players and or teleporting balls for this matter.

I won't mark this as NOT A BUG or even LIKELY NOT A BUG because it looks so outrageous.

We will need to find more examples of this happening before we can verify either way.

Yea, it does look kind of weird, but without more replays there isnt a ton we can do.

Looks screwy but I think it could be a case of text > graphics.

I seem to recall this coming up in the past. I thought that interceptions do not show deflection messages in the pbp text. I'm looking through picks now to see if i can ever see a deflection (message) followed by an interception and so far haven't seen one.

So far i've seen hurries, but no deflections. I'll keep looking

TE: Hands of Rubber SA....Ball flies like a 757

CB: Rubber Arms SA......Arms stretch that extra mile to grab balls.

I like this play. I agree it looks funky by GLB standards, but it's actually a fairly realistic outcome, and I'm glad to see a replay like this. Honestly, deflections by CBs should do stuff like this more often (maybe not travel 6 yards, but hang in the air longer, etc.)

at the very least it's a visual bug, but if it is that, it probably won't receive much attention

To me it just looks like the ball bounced off the TE and the CB was in the right spot for the catch, happens all the time in football. We just don't see the height reality on the bounce.
