can we not get a vision check to see before hand that a LB will come off the edge... let the FB and LG take the DE and let the LOT take the LB or something... but with the way the archetypes for blocking FB's are set you cant expect them to have 100 speed at this level, can we stop forcing them to drop all the way down first?

Blocking FBs kind of suck until around their mid level 50's. Which kind of sucks in general. lol

50, which is pretty good for that level. speed is at 66, which is why i dont want him running up and going back, he isnt fast enough to do it.

Rule #5 of the Bugs Forum - one replay is not sufficient for a play to be deemed a bug. We will look at these instances and if the play's behavior is buggy, we will label the thread as requiring more info (meaning needing more examples). Unless the problem is easily identified and able to be reproduced, the bug will not go any further.

We really cannot do a thing with just one example posted. Who's to say the FB did not miss a vision check on this play? It also looks to me like one of the LBs takes a few steps towards the LOS, maybe the drew the FB towards the center of the 0-Line.

So -- please provide multiple examples of this exact play and exact situation.

Thanks!

Fish

i would say that block should be picked up by the LOT..not the fb.. though i do agree that if the fb is pass blocking not sure why he rushes up to the los

looks like he picks up the blitz late on that one (first moves forward but then sees the blitzer and moves back)......I think this is a vision/agility thing

i know, but the point is with the way bort sets up the blocking, he has to go all the way down to the line before engaging a block..

Ryan,

Sounds like you agree that the play is working as Bort designed it, and that you'd like it adjusted so the Back(s) don't move towards the LOS before they start looking to pick up a block.

Do I understand you correctly?

Thanks,

Fish

why should the FB have to go to the line before he can move back to block? that just needlessly penalizes players with low vision and agility.

however, if there is anything to say that it is programmed correctly, then this isn't a bug, but a suggestion.

I've been studying a single play (Shotgun TE Drive) as it was run by your team this season. Most of the time, I see what you're saying, an initial step straight forward toward the line, like this: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1577882&pbp_id=12458297

But I also saw a diagonal step toward a blitzer: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1580210&pbp_id=13017483

That tells me his initial step is not scripted, and he is capable of spotting a blitzer. It looks like if he hasn't seen the blitzer yet he is programmed to take a step forward and wait in front of the QB, that makes sense as a realistic thing to do. I'd say this is not likely a bug.

I suddenly have a problem with this analysis - As he is talking about his FB, not his HB...
