can someone please post a link that says teams aren't supposed to disguise tactics and rest players when they have nothing to play for? is there an online handbook somewhere?

that makes sense if this was real life. i don't see where resting players in GLB does anything.

or how disguising tactics works when you announce you are doing so.

QFT.

If you wouldn't have said anything, then there wouldn't have been all of this drama. What you do with your team is your business. just keep it to yourself next time.

meh, Guyana is just upset that they basically wasted a premium promotion and whatever time they spent game planning for that game. That said, I don't think it's a big deal. I do think it's pretty silly to announce it even though it was pretty obvious. Yah, if a team has their spot locked up, they aren't going to try. Why would they? I would hope that if Guyana had a playoff spot on the line or something of real value (not just moving up from 8 to 7 seed) you would at least run a normal AI or let your AI from the last game ride, but this isn't anything to me. Sucks for Guyana, but it is well within your rights as a team under the circumstances.

this is an appropriate response. was i silly for posting that i turned off the ai? yes. was i stupid for posting that i turned off my ai? yes. will i ever ever do it again? hell no.

@guyana: you'll have 1 more shot at us in APL next season then we're resetting with lvl 50 or so players. my suggestion would be to make it count on the field. good luck in the playoffs.

we didn't use many tactics this season that we'll use in the playoffs so announcing it made no difference from a tactical standpoint. if i had known y'all were going to go apeshit, i would have most certainly not even logged on to glb today. now as it stands, my wife is pissed off that i am spending my time with you people. no offense intended, but she's hotter which means she wins.

everyone have a great night and for the 50 thousandth f'ing time, good luck in the playoffs.

So you say you did it to disguise tactics then immediately say it made no tactical difference. And resting players and using examples from the NFL makes no sense because a DOT cannot be injured. Both your reasons for throwing a game (tactics and dotball injuries?) make no sense. You simply threw the game and did your own players a disservice by giving them one crappy game of stats and not trying to win.

I just don't get it, animusmax. You ran the same offense the last half of the season. You ran the same offense against Somalia that you did against Lincoln that you did against Uganda and Zambezi and your rated scrims (hell you could be the 2 seed if you had bothered to change tactics for your 3 losses at the tail end of the season). You could have easily just run this same offense again and not screwed with playoff seedings.

Can everyone including animusmax stop pretending that the difference between 7 and 8 is trivial please. 7 is a fighting chance against the rest of the top teams, 8 is pretty much auto-elimination against a should-be world league team.

We're not upset about the promotion because we used it anyways even after his announcement. We're upset that there was nothing to gain by turning off tactics and messing with the playoff seeds, its just terrible sportsmanship.

It was an easy win he did u a favor imo. There are wl teams who save things for the playoffs. Its his team that he pays the flex for season after season. Let him do what he wants to do if he thinks it will help him win.

to me this is just another instance of sour grapes.....there is nothing you can do about the performance of other teams...if animus believes that going to basic tactics might help them be harder to scout for playoffs and a potential loss becuase of it is deemed worth the risk than that's their prerogative. They were not trying to lose the game. They wanted to win, just not give up anything scoutable doing so. They didnt win. That might have had an effect on your team but that's not there fault or responsibility. If you had won more games than you did than this wouldn't have even been an issue.

If canton told you that they played on basic tactics all season would you be pissed? What if i told you CWE did and we could attribute our loses to the lack of advanced tactics? These are all options that teams are legally permitted to do. So why is it considered unsportsmanlike? Just becuase you have a 99% chance of losing in the first round now? Sour grapes man, sour grapes.

Agree with this 100%. Anyway it's animusmax's team and only he (or the whole team) decides what to do: should they try or not, should they throw game or not if it makes his playoff chances better. Why should he care about others?
