Regular Season Matchup: Blaze 41-24

Sean Dane 155 Rec, 1,469yds, 21 TD
Hali Key Players
Axel 13 Rush, 22.5yds; 112 Rec, 947yds; 10 TD
Game Notes:
The mighty Blaze are loaded for bear once again, but the ring has eluded them for several seasons now and Dpride is clearly getting a little more agitated every day that goes by without another ring
Hali barely escaped the ignominy of demotion after 11 proud seasons and two titles in the WL, and there is surely a party in Gart's pants right now after seeing the dominos fall just right for them in week 16.
There are many great storylines here...two former champion teams going head to head, cinderalla turnaround season for Hali, possible revenge for a first round upset against the Jam last year, good old-fashioned CPL vs USAPL animosity, and a battle of the self-proclaimed poasting kings versus the self-admitted poasting failure and troll-king of the forums (Dpride that is, not the whole team).
It's pretty unlikely that Hali will slow the avalanche offense that Blaze brings to the table, as Malik Rose, Michael Jordan and Spud Webb can easily step up for big games if Ikut and Dane get off to a slow start.
But Gart has some credible weapons at his disposal too, and offense has always been a Halifax tradition.
Never count out Halifax in a shootout, but I think Blaze is just too strong
Predicted Score: Blaze 54 Hali 40

SoCal Key Players
Jimmy Patterson 86 Tkl, 33 Hry, 54 Sack, 9 FFum
Sweet Child O' Mine 70 Tkl, 17 Hry, 29 Sack, 1 FFum
Game Notes:
You can't make much of the previous matchup as it was a week 16 game with almost zero impact.
SoCal started the season very strong but started to fade after folks began to decipher their 3-4 blitzing techniques. Lincoln also started strong but had a rocky second half of the season.
Does SoCal have some fresh looks to confuse the Lincoln O-line? They'll need it, because their offense doesn't seem to threaten the top teams much.
Is Lincoln ready to wake up and make some noise in the post season? They ought to be, after napping in USAPL for a season
I think Lincoln has too many weapons in this fight.
Interesting note: Both of these teams beat the Blaze, and the winner may get another shot at that in round 2.
Predicted Score: Lincoln: 38 SoCal: 17

Game Notes:
Korb has struggled to do much damage to the playoff teams, but they have a very solid squad overall and definitely can't be overlooked.
MPHD has the same old boring ground and pound technique that netted them consistent greatness but zero championships in their first WL arc.
Can Korb find a second gear? Will MPHD open up their offense?
Who knows? But I'll say MPHD by their traditional margin of victory in big games:
Predicted Score: MPHD 9 Korb: 3

Marion Barber III 206 Rush, 1,435yds; 2 Rec, 28.5yds; 15 TD
Game Notes:
This is actually a pretty interesting matchup, with two teams that run their main offense through all-star HBs and dump off passes. By the numbers, HHWC has the better threats, and possibly the better O-line with a dominating pancake lead over the rest of the league. But without question, both teams are very capable of break-away scores.
HHWC played very tight games with both MPHD and the Blaze and are of course the reigning two-time WL champs, while Osaka has a history of coming up just short of victory in the tough games. Osaka also enters the playoffs with a three-game slide.
Will the Buckeyes finally figure out how to close a game, or will they let another one slip through their fingers?
After watching HHWC mounting a frenzied charge today, I predict Osaka lets a 4th quarter lead slip through their fingers.
Predicted Score: HHWC 34 Osaka 31
Best of luck to all teams in the playoffs!
