Welcome to the Week 5 version of the East Europe AA #4 Power Rankings! This week didn't have a lot of important matchups taking place, but that all changes in Week 6, as the last two undefeated Alpha teams square off in what might just be a preview of the Alpha Coference Championship. The Minsk Ninjas and the Lowell Bengal Tigers face off in a titanic matchup that might just be the greatest game that Alpha conference will have the entire season. Stay tuned!
Game of the Week
#13 Texas Aggies (3-1) vs. #14 Fehérvár Enthroners (3-1)
The Aggies make it into the game of the week for the second time in a row as they battled it out against a very strong Enthroners team. Could the Aggies carry over their nail-biting win from last week?
Things looked good for the Enthroners after a TD with 11:12 left in the 4th put them ahead by 9. But the Aggies didn't just lay down and die, no they did not. With 1:38 left in the game, Aggies QB Johnny GunSlinger threw a touchdown pass to bring them within 2. From there, the Aggies Special Teams unit produced what was arguably the most impressive play in the game but Forcing a fumble on the kick return and recovering the ball on the Enthroners 39 yard line. This was just out of reach of a Field Goal attempt but GunSlinger was not done as two plays later he completed an 8 yard pass to Garrett Embry which was just enough for a 47 yard attempt. Could K Sigmund the Seamonster be the Hero again? The answer: NO! With :36 remaining in the game, he missed the kick and the Enthroners got the ball back. The Aggies had no timeouts remaining, and one run later, the game was over.
End Result: Enthroners win, 26-24
Power Rankings

My Power Rankings rely heavily on your overall record and what you've done recently. These rankings have been retooled from Season 2 to include a modifier for Margin of Victory that is weighted against the records of the team you played. So while conducting a 20 point win over a team with a winning record will do a lot for your Rankings, conducting an 80 point win against a team at the bottom of the league won't do anything, if at all.
There are three base components that decide your score:
1. SoS4 - Your strength of schedule over the last 4 games.
2. Wins and Losses - Both overall and over the last 4 games. Losses weigh more heavily than wins.
3. MoV4 - Margin of Victory, calculated individually for each of your last 4 games. Your MoV is multiplied by the win% of the team you faced. Win big over good teams and move up the rankings, it's that simple.
And here they are:
The Top Ten
1. Minsk Ninjas (5-0) Last Week (LW): #2
Minsk is the #1 team in this week's Power Rankings, and the men in black pajamas hope to remain here next week because the biggest matchup that Alpha has to offer at the moment is the one taking place this week: The Minsk Ninjas against the Lowell Bengal Tigers.
Last Game: vs. NISSA Dauphins, Won 61-3
Next Game: vs. Lowell Begal Tigers (5-0)
2. Lowell Bengal Tigers (5-0) Last Week (LW): #3
Two undefeated teams will enter Antilles Park this week. Only one will remain undefeated and will likely hold strong to the top spot in the rankings. Will it be the recently relegated Tigers, or the Ninjas, a team hoping to shed the label of a team unable to win the games that count. Both are strong teams, and both have something to prove. This one is definitely too close to call.
Last Game: vs. Tallaght Outlaws, Won 27-6
Next Game: vs. Minsk Ninjas (5-0)
3. London Head Hunters (5-0) LW: #1
The Head Hunters drop down to #3 this week and that might be better for the team overall because the #1 team has a lot of expectations on their shoulders. With the LBT vs. Minsk game headlining this week, the Head Hunters hope to quietly continue their winning streak with a win over the Tire Irons.
Last Game: vs. Carluke Cobras, Won 32-14
Next Game: vs. Sydney Tire Irons (0-5)
4. Warsaw Warriors (5-0) LW: #4
The Warriors hold strong to the #4 spot on the Power Rankings and with the cupcake part of their schedule firmly behind them, they'll look to work on moving up the rankings into they spot they believe they belong in: #1.
Last Game: vs. Subotica Scorpions, Won 34-3
Next Game: vs. Tricity Hares (2-3)
5. Volgograd Berserks (5-0) LW: #6
The Berserks move up a spot and at 5-0 find themselves in the position to dictate to the rest of Zeta how their season is going to end up. After their game against the Scorpions this week they start a series of contests against three of the better teams that Zeta has to offer.
Last Game: vs. C-Town Hoodlums, Won 24-3
Next Game: vs. Subotica Scorpions (0-5)
6. Krakow Cows (4-1) LW: #8
The Cows are a team to worry about. With a team-wide commitment to hold off on boosting and an eye on being promoted into AAA2, they are as true a team as anyone could expect in GLB. The toughest part of their schedule doesn't come for a few weeks, but in the meantime they're handling their business and looking forward to the future.
Last Game: vs. Charleston Roadwarriors, Won 26-0
Next Game: vs. Bratislava Vampires (1-4)
7. Moscow Bears (4-1) LW: #9
The Bears jump up two spots thanks to the winless Buccaneers dropping off of their recent game schedule. While it's too early in the season to say that the Bears are a contender, they are finding ways to win games. Their first real challenge comes in two weeks against the Enthroners but in the meantime they'll face a struggling Players team.
Last Game: vs. Charleston Roadwarriors, Won 13-0
Next Game: vs. International Players (1-4)
8. Moscow Vandals (4-1) LW: #10
The Vandals are doing good so far this year but this comment has to be tempered by their opponents being from the bottom half of the rankings. Be that as it may, the Vandals are having much more success this year than last and if they use these games wisely, expect them to be a contender when playoffs time comes around.
Last Game: vs. International Players, Won 20-3
Next Game: vs. Fehérvár Enthroners (4-1)
9. The Look (4-1) LW: #15
The Look jumps up from the #15 spot to crack the top ten after dropping their home opener loss over the Head Hunters from their recent history. A current 4-game winning streak can work wonders in the Power Rankings, as this team proves. Their game this week against the Hoodlums should help them continue this trend.
Last Game: vs. Longreach Wildcats, Won 19-10
Next Game: vs. C-Town Hoodlums (1-4)
10. St. Petersberg Storm (4-1) LW: #7
The Storm drop down to #10 even though they won because their opponent was the struggling Panthers. Their toughest challenge to date shows up this week against the Buckaroos. If the Storm have one problem on their team it's a lack of an explosive offensive unit, but their defense is so far making up for any deficencies on that side of the ball. Grodno has their work cut out for them.
Last Game: vs. Prague Panthers, Won 13-6
Next Game: vs. Grodno Buckaroos (4-1)
Luxury Vehicles
