Back due to lack of popular demand for me to sod off!
Well, I got 5 out of 8 last week, missed the 3 winless team games, ah well.
So, with no further ado, lets get on with it:
Surabaya Tigers v Tiananmen Square Dancers
Well, my guess on the winning margin for the Tiger's last game was a bit off, after they hammered the Valley Knights. And it looks likely they'll do the same to the Dancers this week. While the Dancers do have a better Rushing D then the Knights did, I doubt it will be enough to stop Jabba Wockee from doing whatever the hell he wants to....
Tigers in another blowout, 30+ easy.
Southern Wastes v Mean Street Metalheads
Well, the Wastes hammered the poor, defenseless Bootleggers into the ground last week, not punting once as they proved they can score on the ground, not just in the air. Meanwhile the Metalheads lost in a close one to the Blazers. Could be an interesting game, but the holes in the Metalheads Passing D are still there from last game, and the Wastes have a tendency to fill those holes with players.
Wastes by 10.
Yokohama Yaks v Kenosha Bootleggers
Undefeated team vs Winless team, think its pretty obvious where this game is going....
Still the Bootleggers aren't completey shafted, the Yaks D isnt all that magnificent individually, though you cant argue with a defense that only allows 6.67 points/game. Kenosha may hope to contain the Yaks Offense while pushing as hard as they can with their own, but I feel it is a forlorn hope.
Yaks by 14.
Riverside Kings v Hanoi Heat
Well, the Kings had a closer-then-expected win vs Tiananmen last week, while the Heat had a surprising (to this reporter anyway) loss to the Steelers. The Kings may in fact have been fortunate to beat the Dancers, after 2 crucial Ints (one to stop a Kings TD, and another that lead to a Dancers TD) and only just managed to claw a win out of it. The Heat may not have the Dancers Defense, but their Receivers are much better. I'm betting this will be closer then the 2 teams records would suggest.
Kings by 6.
Phuket Blazers v Vietnam Veterans
Well, both these 2-1 teams won last week, Phuket in a close one v Metalheads, while the Vets gave the Toungoo Tigers a case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, didn't know it was contagious....
Both teams are pretty evenly matched, with Phuket having slightly better receivers, whilst the Vets have a tighter defense with few gaps in it (not that the Blazers D has very many). This could easily come down to which team makes fewer mistakes, and with the amount of Turnovers the Blazers have given up this season (9), the Veterans may have the edge needed to get over them.
Veterans by 6, but dont be too surprised if this one goes to OT.
Portland Microbrews v Shanghai Steelers
Well, I suppose I owe the Steelers an apology after last week's predictions..... sorry.
Back on task: The Microbrews lost a very close game v the Yaks last week, but 4 turnonvers will make a mess of the best Offense. The Steelers let their HB's do most of the work vs the Heat, and it looks like they'll need another big game from them this week to get over the Microbrews, who should be able to get over last weeks loss, the Steelers still have some holes in their D to sort out.
Microbrews by 10
Hong Kong Valley Knights v Cebu Matadors
Well, the Knights really got hammered last week... 72-zip, thats gotta hurt. They should be able to get some stress relief v the Matadors this week. These two teams seem to have gone with opposite approaches to team building, the Knights have a good Offense but weak D, while the Matadors D is pretty good (except for CB #2) but with the exception of their HB, their Offense is mediocre. Expect a low scoring game here, but I think the Knights Offense is just good enough to get them past the Matadors, as long as their D can hold.
Knights by 6
Monte Cristo Avengers v Toungoo Tigers
The Avengers celebrated their first win of the season last week, while the Tigers must have shown up to the game in Viet Cong uniforms for the pounding they took from the Veterans.
Both teams suffer from a lack of star players, with each only having one Defender over level 10, and only 3 each on Offense. I'm gonna go with the Tigers to break their drought this season, if only cos their one big Defender is bigger then the Avengers' guy, and he'll be covering one of the Avengers best Offensive players as well, but this could be another of those low scoring affairs.
Tigers by 3.
And there we have it folks, another round done, lets see how many I get this week.
