Yeah, that's one that made me think for awhile. I've never been real impressed by tackles. First of all, (I'm not saying that's the case here) there can be a bad player on a bad team that can rack up a TON of tackles b/c he's always on the field.

Also, a tackle is fine, but IMO stopping a player after he's gained 4-5 yards doesn't help the team all that much. A sack, an INT, a TFL, FFum, or even a PD are often bigger plays than a tackle (granted, there are some huge tackles on 4th & 2, but most won't be of that variety). Middawg had 0 sacks, 0 INTs, 0 FFums, only TWO of his tackles were TFL, and he had a nominal number of PD's.

I only gave him honorable mention b/c he had so many tackles.

Best defensive player all season gets the uber snub.......that is some crazy shit.........led the team in tackles in like 60% of games......nobody even close. Hands down the D MVP of the entire PWG league.

We need a voting system. Each week teams submit 3 offensive players and 3 defensive players for that weeks mvp. Add the votes up at the end and then everyone votes on them. Think that will work?

Ping - you don't play much fantasy football do you? The best scoring IDP's and the top All-Pro candidates 99% of the time are stud MLB's that play in the 3-4. Tackles are KING and when a player has 20% more than the next closest LB on their team, they are all world like Teste. Discounting LBs not used to blitz isn't cool and PDs are not as valuable as what you think they are. I would use standard fantasy football scoring for IDP's as the statistical comparison measure.

I would also recommend a team 5 win minimum for players to qualify for awards to eliminate stat whores on bad teams.
