Running the other way working as intended.
Edited by RMiller517 on Jun 21, 2010 10:11:58 (pursuit pathing. frustrating, but working as intended.)
Edited by Djmr on Jun 21, 2010 02:41:14 (Part of pursuit pathing discussions, can't be fixed unless pursuit pathing is rewritten IMO)
Edited by VolBrian on Jun 20, 2010 20:07:39 (Sent to QA per to CS Mods disagreeing)
Edited by blaslo on Jun 20, 2010 20:04:02 (maybe something in connection with the pass being thrown low?)

This is probably more useful than an official response.

it does look odd. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the pass being thrown low. Obviously, the halfback went down to the ground to make the catch, you can see that in the replay. There have been plenty of times in real-life football where you see a defender pull up, thinking the pass was incomplete. The change in pursuit seems to happen just as the halfback gets back to his feet. Going to mark this as likely a bug for now

This issue is similar to this: http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=4077787

The ROLB seems to want to take a deep angle on the HB when he gets to the corner. Notice how the Safeties and the MLB follow suit. Since the original thread was determined not a bug, I'm gonna mark this as Not likely a bug, but please read the thread I linked to and you'll see that this coding isn't necessarily gonna be left untouched.

Well then, since blaslo and I were on this at the same time and disagreed, I'll be sending this to QA for another determination.

I see this a lot. In fact, I swear there was a thread in here with examples already. I know there are some in a team forum somewhere I can try and find.

I started calling it pinballing because the D player just bounces off of some invisible bumper and then goes about his business.

LOL, and you're talking about the same thread I just linked I believe....We're all over this all of a sudden I guess.

Nope, different one. Here:

Unreported example:

WR2 suddenly stops, then catches up, then stops again (after the INT).

This is the thread I was thinking about. Some good examples there:

Hmm, I've seen that WR one before actually. Not sure what happened with that one.

I don't know if the FS think is the same issue unless they want to lump it all under pursuit pathing. That's why we got QA though!

Its definitely a pursuit pathing issue as the RO makes a steep pursuit angle as soon as the HB starts running. Its not related to the players stopping and not tackling thread unless pursuit pathing causes them to stop (in that thread). Its a part of the QA pursuit pathing discussions, so Im going to add it to that thread. As it is now we can't file this as a bug, even though it affects the game, since everything pretty much is working as Bort designed, so Im giving it a first verification. If theres more examples and justification as to why its something Bort can fix without having to completely change pursuit pathing, then its a bug.

I think this is a bug. The ROLB changes his pursuit angle w/o reason just as he's about to get to the ball-carrier. That said, this does have alot to do w/ pursuit pathing.

It is a pursuit pathing issue, no doubt. The ball carrier changes directions radically from how he was moving to where he was going, and the linebacker adjusted radically, accordingly. It is frustrating, but it is part of how it is coded.

I'm going to give this a second verification and send it off.
