Dublin Post Gazette - D-Monks Battle Back To Get The Win

Down 14-3 half way through the 2nd quarter, Dublin RB Brad Theisen decided it was time to kick it up a notch. After a slow start the D-Monks Star RB turned on the afterburners and carried the team to a 26-17 victory with 118 yard day on 23 carries. In a game dubbed by many to be the game of the week in the alpha conference, it sure didn't disappoint.

On the first drive of the game, Wraith RB Jackson Hail opened up the scoring with a 35 yard burst that put the Wraiths ahead 7-0. After a D-Monks field goal early in the second quarter, Hail struck again, finishing with 102 yards on 16 carries, this time to put the Wraiths up 14-3. The next drive seemed to be the turning point of the game, as Theisen ripped off two big runs the next series to bring the score to a 4 point difference.

"We just kept battling all game, if we don't score there the game is over. The defense did a great job of stepping up once we were down and holding them to 3 points the rest of the game, and the o-line really helped open up holes" Theisen said after asked about what happened to spark the comeback. "The passing game really stepped up this week and kept the Wraiths honest."

After a quiet 3rd quarter trading field goals, the 4th quarter was owned by Dublin. The offense took two long methodical drives down TD's scored by Theisen, capped off by a 7 minute 65 yard drive that mixed a good dose of steady rushing, with efficient passing. The Wraiths put together a long drive toward the end of the game to try and get back in the game, but the Dublin defense stepped up once they hit the redzone and force a turnover on downs to wrap the game up for the D-Monks.

"This is a huge win for us, the Wraiths played a great game. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going into next week and keep on winning."
