Lion Conference:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bamako Black Magic VS. Cybertron War Machine:
Well I guess I may not have given the Black Magic enough credit leading up to this point.. they definitely took care of business last game with an aggressive defense (3 FFs, 3 INTs and 12 sacks) and a running game that averaged over 4 ypc and ate nearly 40 minutes of clock.. I'd say that's a commanding victory!! While that was going on the War Machine was busy wrecking their chances at a perfect season (0-16).. I'm sure they had fun running that score up with 6 special teams TDs.. but now it's back to planet earth time! The Black Magic should have no problem hexing the War Machine and moving to a perfect 4-0
District 9 Prawns VS. Nigeria Nightmares:
D9 is just going about their business currently.. handling the teams they should handle and unfortunately for the Nightmares.. this includes you! If the Nightmares can't figure out how to slow down the opponents Special Teams.. Doctor Scott (the rest of this name is just too long.. well it's actually now shorter then what I have typed) could score 100 points personally. Shrimpies by triple digits!
Ironton Tanks VS. Sahara Sand Monsters:
Here we have two teams that made me look bad with my picks last time.. so I'm going to pick this one as a tie.. okay.. I'm just bull shitting! I did expect more from each team last game so I'm a little perplexed with this one.. both teams had a hard time running the ball last week.. well and for that matter hanging onto the ball! Either this is going to be a really sloppy game... or we'll find out which team controls the clock.. either way I'll take SSM.. but definitely take the under on this one!
Port Harcourt Playmakers VS. Pretoria Crusaders:
Alright.. I've picked the Crusaders to win last last two games.. and they've made me look bad.. I'm going to give them one more shot (yeah I know I'm going out on a big limb this time).. Crusaders enjoy the bye week!
Rwanda Headhunters VS. Lake Opeta Legionnaires:
Well well.. last week showed us that Rwanda has some fight in them.. I'd been waiting to see signs of life over there and if they hadn't given up 20 in the 4th quarter they were on their way to this seasons first W.. unfortunatly they did give that up and they didn't get that elusive first win.. meanwhile LOL showed that they aren't anybodys stepping stone to APL victory #1.. and I think they have the gears turning over there again! This could be a close game.. but I expect LOL to control the clock and the game in the end!
Uganda SilverBacks VS. Somalia Pirates:
This is the first of 3 good match ups in Lion today.. Both of these teams have started the season strong and are looking to stay above .500 at the end of the 1st Quarter of the season.. while Uganda was getting their introduction to D9.. Somalia was already game planning.. these two teams match up well and this one is going to be a dog fight. Because of the PHP game I really can't even go based on team stats.. so gutt instinct tells me to take the more active team.. the Pirates have 14 inactive players which can effect game plans.. so I'll take the SilverBacks by 7
Zambezi Silverbacks VS. Carthaginian War Elephants:
Yet another great match up in Lion.. pitting the 3-0 Silverbacks against the 1-2 War Elephants (don't let the record fool you)... the Silverbacks have surprised me with how well they're playing dot ball this year.. while the War Elephants have struggled with some tough match ups. The Silverbacks are the top passing team in Lion... but they give up plenty of passing yards which Mr. Winfield will be more then happy to take advantage of.. the problem is (as always) which team will he throw the ball to? I think the Silverbacks win the turnover battle and the game.. it must be a big ape kind of day!
*Sahara Storm VS. Massawa Redhorns:
*Lion Game of the Week*
This game is going to be a battle.. I already know that I'm going to watch this one for sure. These two teams are so balanced I went through a ton of team stats looking for some edge for one team or another.. but even their punters avg. is within .5 yards of each other! The Redhorns surprised/dissappointed me last week needing to score 20 in the 4th to get a victory.. while the Storm were in a dog fight with their newest rival (even if neither team admits it damn it you are rivals because I said so).. the only edge I could find in this game was turnovers... as the Storm have been giving the ball away more then the Redhorns.. normally I'd say that's enough for the Redhorns to get the win.. but the Storm have been playing a tough schedule and I think Rocky has his team focused.. so I'll take the Storm by 3 (those 3 might even come in over time.. did you know that the Storm kicker hasn't missed from within 50 yet this season?)

Elephant Conference:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nairobi Warthogs VS. Uganda Mounties:
The Warthogs are off to a fast start.. and there is no under the radar for them this season.. it's tough to be under the radar scoring 85/game on average.. while the Mounties started the season off well... but have only scored 6 points since. This game won't help that average much.. the Mounties should jump on their horses and run for the hills (are their any hills Nairobi? Either way.. when you see these Warthogs running at you.. it's best to get out of the way so you don't wind up on a "When Animals Attack" special!!
MaRawk!!o Evil Aces VS. Somalia Warlords:
I'm starting to wonder if MaRawk really wanted to be here.. I thought for sure they'd get a win last week and do whatever they can to avoid returning to the AAA abyss.. but instead they couldn't get the offense going and turned the ball over too! That's not a great combination.. The Warlords are doing what they can to get this renovation complete.. and what they can do is run the ball and eat clock.. since the Evil Aces have only held one team under 150 yards this season (okay so it was 149 but that counts).. I think that Kamal Kan carry the Warlords to a low scoring victory!
Rhodesia Ratels VS. Kickin Djibouti:
This is going to be a really big game for Kickin.. they need to right the ship and kick a little bouti today.. or else they may be gone for the seaon.. while the Ratels have seemed to be doing everything right so far!! But this is a trap game.. Kickin only allows 142 yards/game passing.. but the Ratels only throw for 109.. so that should be an issue.. but it's the battle of wills in the running game that will decide the outcome.. the Ratels have the second best rushing offense in the conference averaging 307 yards per game (and if you don't look close at the per game break down Kickin is #2 in rush defense.. but after you take out the PHP game.. they're giving up 175 yards per game) either Kickin and stop the run this game and get back to their light up the sky passing offense.. or the Ratels will eat the clock, the cheese and any glimmer of hope Kickin has.. Just for Forbin I'll take Djibouti by 6!
Sons of Anubis VS. Pirgos Warlords:
Maybe I'm biased but it seems like SoA has game ever week that could qualify as game of the week!! The Warlords will bring their 2-1 record into the Underworld today! Statistically most team stats favor the Warlords.. and they put it on the Sons pretty good last season.. but if they can't score on the Dachshunds then maybe they are in turmoil and this won't be a good game for that.. the Sons will continue to roll back to the top of the conference.. winning convincingly (by 6)
Carthage Mad Clash VS. Angola Blood Diamonds:
Congratulations to Vegas and company on getting that first win out of the way.. good thing it happened last week.. because it won't happen today. This is a lop sided match up with everything favoring Carthage.. so I have two goals for ABD today.. #1 nobody has held Carthage under 55.. #2 nobody has scored more then 20 against them (PP I'm only counting regular season games before you hop up on your soap box to tell us about the all powerful D9).. other then those two goals.. uhhh yeah.. I have no optimistic outlooks for you.. Carthage by 77
The African Predators VS. Mauritius Mountain Lions:
The Predators are looking to prove who the king of the jungle is.. and they're showing off along the way.. averaging over 500 yards per game.. and only giving up 3 points so far this season.. is incredible! The Mountain Lions have shown that they are much improved over last season.. but this won't be a game that you guys will want to remember for very long! If you can stop Bo Jackson (who's #2 in conference in receiving yards and #4 in the conference in rushing yards) then you might have a chance. I recommend figuring out where a hip would be located on a dot and aiming for it! If you can't stop him.. you won't stop them! Sorry Mountain Lions.. but theirs a bigger Predator in the jungle today!
Swaziland Dachshunds VS. Ivory Coast Breakers:
The always dangerous ankle biters look like they got wound up after the Sons game.. shutting out Pirgos is no easy task! While ICB is still taking their inaugural APL season lumps.. just like from college to the pros.. this game is faster up here! I don't see this being the week that you get that elusive first win.. like a dog just out of the groomers.. the Dachshunds are going to strut today! (if that doesn't make sense to anybody other then me.. then I have one arrogant dog!!)
Kiev Dynamos VS. Sahara Sand Storm:
I'm about to stop something before it gets started.. there will be no flying under the radar for the Dynamos.. only a 4th quarter field goal kept them from being 3-0 this season and they're playing solid! Sahara hasn't been as fortunate this season... I think their team might have all taken Segways to Memorial Stadium just so they didn't have to sit down on the plane after that Carthage game! Regardless.. I have to go with the team playing better dot ball right now and that's definitely the Dynamos!
Some great games today... Lets Get It On!
