Important, but not as important as strength, blocking, and agility.

Yes. Try to get it to 80+ raw by the end of his career via a combination of training and a few SP here and there.

Personally, I like to cap it next to last (before stamina) and train it with stamina as long as possible after Strength, Blocking, Agility, Vision, and Confidence are all too high to get much value from training. Once you have 61 speed, I'd evaluate your play and determine for yourself if you could use more. Gs that are built to pull will definitely need more.

For brand new or low level players the new archetype and leveling system makes it even more difficult than it normal to say what the average speed for a good player at any given position/level will be in a year. Stamina is also supposed to become more important, so that could also impact the practice of saving those two as your last training combo.

how does speed help with Tackles? I have heard how fast DEs beat tackles... which puzzles me since, OTs just have to backup a couple paces?

Well you cant just sit on your ass you gotta move and keep the DE in front of you. Speed isnt hugely important in Pass Blocking but still helps, i would say more in run blocking and screens will speed really help.

thanks for the input, i have read that speed doesn't really come into play until you have run about 10 yards......?? so I have read..

No, that's not true. Your speed is always relevant, regardless of how far you're running.

Speed can also be important for pulling guards that need to get out quick.

Imo on high leveled (50+) players, you want 68 speed at least across the O-line.

Speed:

-Helps you get to blockers
-Helps you get in better position to block, which means you'll have a better hold block roll
-Helps your balance rating along with agility, which will help you avoid revcakes.
