The end of day is here for season 14 Africa AAA#2!

This seasons Championship game pits the Two undefeated against one another for what should be a competitve finale.

Lets take a moment to look at the Conference Championship games.

Somali Pirates 55 vs. Cybertron War Machine 36

This game was set up to be a bitter matchup between two very tough teams. It wound up leaving just one bitter team. Ok not really. However, the story of the game is CWM Nickle Defense was confiscated by customs upon arival to the game.

The people of AAA#2 were robbed of a great game. Would have been a blast to see these two slug it out again. Somali will represent well. They did gain a minor advantage from this game though that may assist them in the LCG, they did not have to display their offense against a top team. This should hinder ICBs scouting slightly.


Ivory Coast Breakers 24 vs. MaRAWK!! o 17

This clash of the top two teams from Elephant did not dissapoint anyone. The game was very hard fought and close throughout. ICB did lead the game throughout, and gained more yards offensively. However, MaRawk!! o was never out of striking distance of the upset.

ICB took this victory with a punishing ground game, averaging 6.5 ypc. Although, 72 yds came on this early run by Tiger Bay. http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1100238&pbp_id=19820062 The outlet to the TE kept the chains moving all game long and likely was the true key to this game.




League Championship
19-0 Ivory Coast Breakers vs 19-0 Somali Pirates

I find it pretty cool that Pirates are taking on the Breakers. Not the teams, but I mean seriously pirates sail on wooden ships and breakers have allway been one of pirates biggest challenges. I guess this reproter is just a nerd.

Anyways. Both of these teams have rarely been challenged and have earned their way here by finding a way the very few times they were.

I have gone into depth a few times on what makes Somali a worthy adversary, a top notch running game, one of the best pass games with the best QB in OMG in Lion Conf.

ICB is much the same. They play excellent defense, they can enforce their will on you rnning the ball behind a great offensive line and they are also adept at passing.

I find it fitting that the two most balanced teams from their respective conference are the two facing off.

My take on this battle:

I see this being a pretty tight battle until late in the game. Somali has pretty great schemes in their defense but their weakness is in the Defensive line. There was a shortage of teams that could take advantage of it in Lion, only CWM showed that ability. The issue for Somali here is ICB has this ability and their backs are a little more explosive than CWMs.

Somali wins this game if They can stop the run, and somehow get turnovers on defense. The best way to do this would be to get an early lead. Priorities for this game as I see it, Stop the run, blanket the TE.

Breakers win this game if they don't take risks and are effective running the ball. I think ICB can play as good of a defense as Somali has seen to date, so don't put the ball in the air more than you have to and the game goes to ICB


Prediction:

Pirates run aground

ICB Wins 30-17

Great write-ups man. I think ICB takes it as well but I'm backing Somali all the way because Lion needs a freaking winner for once.

Dont get me wrong, I am rooting for Somali. I want Lion to take the Gold and Somoli are some stand up guys.

Same here. Just hard to call this game. I think ICB has faced a lot of tougher teams this season though.

I do not think it was a hard game to call really. IMO, the only thing that could swing it to Somalis favor is turn overs.

Do not think I am hating on Somali, CWM matches up with ICB worse than Somali does.

I dont think you are, like I said earlier. We are for sure underdogs in this game. They have a great running attack and CWM showed that can be a weakness

Pry giving out to much info, but my OC is on vacation with the fam (he left right after the conf. game) so I set the O for this game. Hoping that doesn't hurt us any, just makes me more nervous

Great write up! The only issue I have is that if the TE pass wasn't working against MaRAWK!!o, Tiger Bay would have just carried another 20 times with just about the same effect.

Their TE had 16 catches for 90-something yards. I think we all agree that Tiger would have had a VERY similar stat line to that AT LEAST. Dude is a beast.

I think ICB wins because they shut down our running game for 120 minutes this season and that is the only team able to do it for a whole game. They are tough, tough, tough to run against.

I tell you what though, one thing that is a positive for Somali is scouting. There is a lot more tape on ICB against good clubs with well thought out game plans than Somali.

When scouting for our Somali game, it was tough to find usable tape on them. There were some bone headed offenses thrown at the Pirates this season. You really had to break down coverages to get any sense of what would work,

The thing I like about the TE usage in that game was a few things, One it did what it needed to do. it is tough when you have to acount for that and the run game. Not to mention if you can get the ball to the TE like that, you can run llike that guess what it does for the WRs?
