I was thinking about how we get one chance to choose our extra SA. Unless the SAs are constantly watched and kept balanced we might see a lot of players retire if they cannot convert their extra SA.

I mean if all of a sudden LBs realize that one SA trumps all other SAs, we may see a mass retirement of LBs that chose wrong this offseason. The same applies to all the archetype positions. I would guess it will take a season or two but eventually agents will put two and two together and realize that certain positions favor one SA over the others.

I doubt many people will want to keep spending money on a dot that is forever doomed to suck because of a past mistake. I wonder if we could get the same convert function for our extra SA that we have for our AE?

Considering Bort has not allowed any other SA "refunds", I doubt he'd endorse this one.

Should just have a padlock icon in that spot and you get to choose the SA at like level 20 or so.

+1 I mean 8ish days to make such a big decision is not going to be enough imo

I think that the other SA slot would be replaceable in the future... it wouldn't be like it would be tough to do. I have 7 points into First-Step in S16 on my FB. Bort decides that FBs are too good at run-blocking now so he decides to nerf First-Step. Bort offers a one-time conversion of this skill to another. You pick the new skill and it has 7 points in it.

No SP refund, but I could see an SA swap be possible.

talked with Bort about this - not going to happen, but we might do something where you can swap the extra SA at a cost. Not certain we'll do that but it's a good possibility.

What in particular is not going to happen? Swapping of the SA, or the option to wait until you're a higher level to choose which one you want?

a little off topic but....unless I missed something there did not seem to be much of anything available in the extra SA category for a K or a P....comments????

I think this makes a ton of sense

or when....oh i don't know....something is changed in the simulation making an entire build plan useless?

If you are 80+ days, can you wait to decide if you want to convert to an archetype or is this offseason/preseason your final decision... choose an archetype or stay "the old way" ?

Pretty much right. K and P aren't really positions you can get a whole lot of abilities for. I can't think of anything many "new" abilities that aren't already covered.

Was this a no go on Longhorns suggestion? I really think moving 'return specialist' out of the tree and just calling it the 'Zone Coverage' tree to go with the Man Specialist tree, and moving the new Zone SA to that tree while moving Return Specialist inot a Extra SA only works great.

On players who already have return specialist, they see no difference because the move down to an 'Extra' SA is done at no change to the SA's value and if they have spent points in the other SA's they stay there even if it creates a weird balance and that balance only has to be fixed if they want to add points later to more advanced in the tree SA's.

This would really be a smart thing to do IMO.
