Tension builds across the land as 2 Grecian Titans of the Eastern Europe AA league get set to square off for the Gold and Glory of a GLB League championship!
Pre-Game Favorite, Athens Odyessy, are no strangers to big games, having won a league title in Season 10 (lv 31 Minors), after an AA conference trophy in season 3 (AA league). The Odyessy managed a Perfect 16-0 regular season record, and they bring a solid 2nd ranked rushing attack in their conference to the table. Led by the their Star HB Tyrone Biggums, Biggums finished 3rd in Offensive MVP balloting, the Odyessy figure to establish the run early behind this Horse of a HB.
That is not to say The Odyessy is a "one trick pony" on offense. They compiled a solid 72% completion rating in the regular season, on 219 completions in 304 attempts, and 62 TD. The telling stat for the Athens passing game is that they allowed only 3 sacks all season, meaning that when they do throw, the Odyessy QB's should have ample protection.
The underdog Drunken Monks of Thessaloniki went 15-1 in the regular seaosn, and have also known some post season success. They took a conference title in Season 9 of the East Europe BBB league, as well as gaining a bit of revenge when they prevailed over THE CAVE, the only team to best the Monks in the regular season, 29-14 in the Zeta Conference finals.
The Monks run a balanced Offensive attack, and managed to rank 2nd in Zeta conference Passing, and 3rd in Rushing. The Monks use too many different players in their multi-facetted game to have had any real MVP contenders, but QB Johnny Arms threw for the most TDs in ZETA, and also ranked 3rd in passing yards.
The Monks use a 1/2 punch in the ground game, consisting of HB Blaze Lightning Bolt Bailey, and HB z0mg wTF HaX0r. Bailey ran for 3720 regular season yards, and HaX0r notched 2798. Bailey also compiled 123 rushing TDs, while HaX0r added another 94. This great rushing attack is fueled by an Offensive Line which put 4 players in the top 10 Zeta rankings for pancakes.
Athens led the Alpha conference pack on defense in season 14, tallying 72 more sacks than the #2 team (323 total). They also scored 16 TD off of 26 INT, and 28 TD off of 68 Forced Fumbles (55 recovered).
Thessaloniki was no slouch on defense either, finishing 2nd in their conference overall. The Monks managed 79 INT, 410 Sacks, and 333 Forced fumbles, all of which netted them a total of 165 defensive TD.
So the stage is set for an epic battle between the two remaining East Europe AA league powerhouse teams. Who will prevail?
The ground pounding Odyessy, with their super O line protection, and their stifiling D?
Or the well balanced Monks squad, with their choice between rushing or receiving attacks, and a highly opportunistic D?
The only REAL question that remains is...
Which of these 2 GREAT teams will BRING HOME da BLING?

Great write up GrogMan - the tension is certainly boiling. Could very well be a nail-biter. But I wish CAVE took DM's spot with a couple of plays in our favor.
Good luck to both teams. Their glory was well earned.

Congratulations, was an excellent game. I suppose the performance of our scat-back was a surprise for them but we knew better.
