After my last post, saying I never go 3-1 or 1-3, I immediately went 3-1 on my game 13 picks, running my season record to 35-15. The game 14 match-ups are really nothing special, except for the game of the day, but more on that later. Due to the overall lack of 4 quality match-ups, I am doing something new this time, and pretend I am a Vegas handicapper. DISCLAIMER -- at the time of this post, I have not used the latest script to predict the scores or scoring margins, this will be completely "blind".
Game 1. Dublin Fighting Irish (7-6) vs Corona Del Mar Cougars (7-6). Looks pretty even, same record through 13 games. Power rankings show that the Irish is the #17 O, and #14 D; Cougars are #15 O, and #17 D, and Cougars have a higher SoS and overall rank. Hmmm, I will set the line as the Cougars are the favorites by 6.5 points. My pick - I like the Irish to cover the 6.5 points -- defense is more important than offense here. The Cougs may win, but the Irish keep it within a TD, and may just win it outright - happy St Patty's Day!! Which is really just an excuse to get drunk if you ask me, but I am all for it. As for the Cougs, I saw pix of both Selma Hayek and Halle Berry today, and if you go back many games, I asked who is the hotter Cougar between the two of them. The answer is: http://therapup.net/2009/10/the-best-google-logo-ever.html
Game 2. Atlantis Stormriders (11-2) vs S.L. Blood Diamonds (9-4). Here are two of the better teams from the Zeta conference, but for some reason, the Blood Diamonds have been flying under the radar a bit this season. They sit in the #6 playoff spot, and they are the 15th ranked team in the league. Atlantis sits around #8 in the league and have much higher O and D rankings. I would set the line at -- Atlantis by 54 points. I like the Stormriders to cover that line as well... I think the Blood Diamonds are better than they have shown so far, but may be just holding off until next season. The real question in the Zeta conference is, can anyone beat the Blood Leopards in the Playoffs, or is it a fore-gone conclusion they will play for the league championship? Discuss amongst yourselves Zeta and let us all know.
Game 3. Blood Leopards (12-1) vs Correscant Jedi Knights (0-13). Alright, so this is obviously all about the points in this one. The Jedi's have scored 3 pts all season, total, and obviously that FG was in one game. I don't see them scoring in this game, but if they do, the Leopards should have to run a penalty lap, naked, or something. You know the rule in golf? If you don't hit your tee shot past the women's tee, then you have to walk to your ball with your pants around your ankles? Same applies here. Question here is, do the Leopards get to the 255 point mark before time runs out? I say no. I say final score 212-0. The force is just not that strong with these Jedis.
4. Game of the day!! KC DD (13-0) vs B.S. Buccs (13-0). Shhhheeeeewwwweeee!!! That is pronounced, shoe (let it drag a bit), and then weeeeeee!!! Here is the shootout at the OK corrall. The one we have all been waiting for. The showdown. The marquis match-up. Time to put up or shut-up. The biggest game of the regular season up to this point. The last of the undefeateds. Two great teams, but only one can have the chance to match the 1972 Dolphins as unblemished champions. {{stevenj54}} Let me know what I missed, cuz I am fresh out of building this one up any further
... Well, according to some of the recent posts in this league, we have wagers and some confident players out there, trying to make this game seem meaningless. The league champion is already crowned, so why are we playing at all anymore? I expect some epic games come playoff time, I just hope this conference can live up to the hype. I actually think this game does mean one helluva lot, the #1 seed in the playoffs and a chance to scout the Buckeyes vs Seed#2, going in to the conference finals. Anyways, I cannot put a point spread on this game, it is too close to call. The DDs beat the Buckeyes by 10 points early on in the season; the Buccs beat the Buckeyes by 9 points late in the season. Does that mean the DDs win by 1 in this game?? I have picked against the Buccs a few times now, and I am finally a believer. The Buccs move to 14-0 with a final score of 17-10. The Buccs O-line wear down the great D of the DD's and defeat the Deuce.
Before I retire for the night, I hope everyone saw the haymaker that the Baylor B-Ball chick threw to the Texas Tech's chick's face the other night. WOW!! She broke her freaking nose! I hate to say it, but don't we watch hockey for the fights? NASCAR for the wrecks? MMA for the bloody face pummeling? Guys love the violence and aggressiveness that is natural to sporting events. If more chicks fought, maybe we would watch their sporting events -- or if they wore skimpier clothes, either way...
