Algeria Tigers at West Virginia Mountainmen
This should be one of the closest games of the night. This one could come down to the kicking game in which Slick Mcgee has an edge in experience over seldom used Mountainmen kicker, Woodside. In the end, I think the Tiger's solid wideouts are able to isolate on the younger WV CB's and get just enough yardage to get it done.
Algeria 13 - WVU 6
Charlie Don't Surf at Zimbabwe Mighty Zulu Nation
This one has mismatch written all over it. Charlie has put together a solid team, but Zimbabwe does appear to be a Mighty Zulu Nation. Charlie has some of the best LB's in Elephant, but I don't think they'll be enough to stop what should be a high powered offense featuring Tomasic, Derker, Rice and Christensen. Remember those names, they'll be All-Pro candidates as Zimbabwe looks to test Charlie's defense early. All is not lost for Charlie, they should contend for a playoff spot, their biggest obstacle
Charlie 0 - Zimbabwe 38
Ethiopian Food Mongers at Gambia Piranhas
Ethiopia's CPUs aren't gonna get it done, even against the fairly soft Gamibian defense. Hopefully, with the win the owner of Gambia will be able to pay a bonus out to purchase a keyboard with a working CAPS LOCK button. Ethiopia appears to be an early favorite for relegation.
Ethiopia 10 - Gambia 24
Montery Magic at Morningside Candaysnatcher
This game promises to be another great matchup! The key to this one will be the head to head between Magic's Flannigan and Candysnactcher Marshall. If the big FB can set the tone of this game on the ground, he may be able to run behind his guard Lemansky for some big plays. Trying to stop them is Easton Barnicals anchoring the Morningside line. I think the Magic are able to cast their spell. After this game, the schedule only gets worse for both teams.
Magic 17 - Morningside 6
TORO'S TEXANS at Tripoli Leathernecks
The winner of this early game will have an inside track on the playoffs. TORO's may have the best kicking game in the conference. However, you are going to hear Bond to Miller quite often in this game. I don't think TORO's solid CB corp will be able to stop them from hooking up. On defense, Tripoli has big Chris Dirka clogging up the middle with Rico and Zippy supporting him. This isn't an overpowering defense but it should be a big play defense with timely sacks, TFL's and picks. Tripoli's schedule does set up nicely for them to make an early season run.
Tripoli 24 - TORO's 3
Sahara Sandstorm at Burundi Broncs
Sahara looks to open the season on a strong note and serve notice that they are a contender for the conference championship, they have a potent offense led by Chi Bob and a solid defense. Burundi will serve their heads to Sahara on a silver platter. Along with Ethopia, this team is expected to struggle. However, they have managed a complete roster and if their owner sticks with this young team they could become a force over time.
Salty Shellback at West Nile Virus
This is going to be a tough one to call. Both teams are young, but have good depth. On paper, this should be a blowout, but that is skewed by West Nile's rising star at QB and their outstanding kicking team. It's really going to come down to which untested defense breaks first. I'm going to peg this game as the upset special. Jason Stawski will frustrate West Nile's QB, Utahh, and Salty pulls off the upset in a shoot out.
Salty 30 - West Nile - 24
Zulu Warriors at Zambia Zombies
The Warriors have a great shot at the playoffs if they can round out their roster and get those CPU's off their team. Unfortunately, they drew the toughest opening possible, traveling to Zambia and then hosting Zimbabwe. The Warriors do feature a great offensive line, anchored by three great tackles. However, they'll be going up against a deep defensive line for Zambia. If Zulu can manage to contain that line and work on Zambia's young LB corp, they could see success. Da'Klown has proven experience, but it would be unwise to challenge Zambia's two star corners. On the defensive side of the ball the Warriors have a monster in Chris Hartley supported by a great LB corp. They are going to have to work overtime to put pressure on F4vre and contain Zambia's RB and WR's. In the end, this is one of the best games of the day, but Zulu ultimately falls as their CPU's get abused.
Zambia 27 - Zulu 17
