Warrior General Games

The Boston Dogs are aiming to take a bite out of the two time World League champions. But the Esplosion have proved to be a moving target as teams try to zero in on knocking them off. Let's take a look at the action.

Haliblack gets the ball first and quickly pickup a first down. They get s scare when Palinca Tuica forces Fast Willie Parker to fumble but Rubberized Hull jumps on it for Hali:

But Homer Speedson brings an end to the drive by forcing a fumble from Project Marcie. This time a Dog, Tupac Machiavelli, jumps on it like The Prince of Rap that he is:

But Hali's defense doesn't budge. Peanut Interceptor makes a tackle for loss on first down and Darius Payne gets a nice deflection on third down to force a punt:

The Esplosion get the punt and start marching down the field. Bombs hits Ontario Williamson for 18:

A few runs and some passes gets Hali close to the red zone. But on 3rd and 6 Bombs is sacked by Boor of Beer for force Haliblack to settle for a FG:

Boston gets the ball and Tommy Ciscero gets a sack to setup 2nd and long:

So far it has been all visitors as the hometown Dogs have only one first down, while Hali has moved it up and down the field at will. Boston needs to get something going on offense. But on the first play of the next drive it is another Tommy Ciscero sack:

Another first down on 3rd and 15 as Balsana hits Darnello Jefferson for 19-yards:

Hali takes over and quickly moves into Boston territory. This 18-yard run by Fast Willie has them in scoring position:

But instead of going down and cashing it in to take a commanding three-score lead, the Dogs get another huge turnover. This time Tossin' Bombs drops back and his pass is picked off by Edward Earl Reed and returned 81-yards for a TD:

Haliblack 10 - Boston 7

So Boston has two first downs while Hali has been moving the ball at will but the home crowd is into it and it is game on. What would quite the crowd down is a nice long ball-control drive for the visitors and the get just that. 10-plays covering 60-yards has the ball at the Boston 5-yard line. All Hali has to do is punch it in to restore order. But the GLB gods decree it is not to be, Christian Dior fumbles after a vicious hit by Palinca Tuica and Edward Earl Reed pounces on it:

It could easily be 24-0 Hali, but instead it is only 10-7. The Dogs have dodged more bullets than Neo but can they get out of their own end? The answer is no as Danelle Ellerbe gets a big 3rd down deflection to force a Boston punt from their own end-zone:

Hali takes over on Boston's 38, facing a 3rd and 10 Tossin' Bombs is feeling a little pressure to pickup a first and extend their meager lead. He drops back stares at Ontario the entire route. Edward Earl Reed jumps the route and picks it off. Once again it is a carbon copy of the first pick as he returns it 81-yards for another TD:

Boston 14 - Haliblack 10

So the team with two first downs and losing badly in the stats and time of possession is now leading in the only stat that really counts, the score. Hali is shell-shocked and can't do anything else as the half-time scores remains the same.

Boston gets the ball first but are forced to punt as Baby Elmo makes a sure-handed tackle on 3rd down:

The Dogs almost get another break as Nathan The Interceptor Vasher fumbles the punt as he is mauled by Polar Grizzly Bear, but Doug Dawson jumps on it:

Hali's offense gets to work and drive right down the field, big play on the drive is this 19-yard rush by Project Marcie:

Boston finally gets its offense in gear and puts together a good drive. Balsana to Poley for 17:

Then Hali puts together a truly amazing drive. 18-plays, 80-yards and a huge 7-points. One play of 15, another of 10-yards and the rest in single digits. They faced four 3rd downs and three 4th downs but kept moving. Christian Dior takes it in from 9.5 yards out:

Boston has been here before and they are getting more confident as the game progresses. They move the ball right down the field with some big plays. Balsana hits Mossy for 27-yards to get things moving:

With 1:17 left and Haliblack out of timeouts it should be kneel-kneel-kneel and hit the showers. But the Dogs want to rub it in. They lineup in shotgun and Woof! looks for Darnello Jefferson coming out of the back field. IT IS PICKED OFF by Baby Elmo!!! OMFG!

Ok, Hali down by one, in FG range at the Dogs 32 with 1:17 left. All they need to do is run it a few times and hold on to the ball. No dice, they decide to pass it.

Ya, I was going to add Fix Yer AI's but when you are a winless World League team you don't go giving advice to better teams. And I am not sure Hali's needs to be fixed, at the 32, no timeouts left, under a minute left, you would hate to see a run and then the clock run out. I think one run and then a kick would have worked.
