Looking forward to a hard fought battle today. It will be one of many throughout the years....

These rivals first crossed paths (sort of) back in season 3, as the Papua New Guinea Cannibals (now defunct), who have provided several players to So Cal BDC over the seasons, defeated the Tigers in a meaningless post season scrimmage 20-9 (data lost on that game).

The Cannibals and Tigers remained in opposing conferences for the next several seasons with both eventually making it to OPL. That is when BDC first met up with the Tigers in Season 8. BDC won the first meeting of the teams, 17-10 behind strong performances by current BDC stars Matt Anderson and Denver LastDinosaur http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=377403 . Tasmania got their revenge in season 8 however come playoff time, bouncing BDC from the playoffs in the first round for the first time in BDC's history with a 47-14 thrashing http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=465481. Even an 11 tackle, 3 Sack performance from Denver couldn't overcome HB Speedy McSpeed and the Tiger defense who returned 2 pick 6 TDs.

In season 9 the teams met in the second game of the season with BDC looking for a measure of revenge. The 2-headed rushing attack of Matt Anderson and Greg Jones #6 helped them find some redemption with a furious 2nd half comeback, culminating in a 47-35 BDC victory http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=477937.

Season 10 saw the teams meet twice, with Matt Anderson carrying the load during the regular season in a hard fought 31-26 victory. http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=591187 BDC needed heroics from their comeback QB Longbomb Clutch who found Super Sprode in the end zone with 4 minutes remaining to take the lead. Tasmania then began a methodical march down the field, finding themselves on the BDC 19.5 yard line with 15 seconds left facing a 3rd and 5.5. In a play reminiscent of the Rams / Titans Super Bowl, the Tigers found themselves 1 yard short at the end http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=591187&pbp_id=7954926

Their 2nd meeting that season was not as memorable as BDC found a chink in the Tiger's armor, leading to over 900 yards of offense and a blowout victory in the 2nd round of the playoffs. QB's Nils Larsen and Longbomb Clutch combined for over 750 yards passing and 7 tds and WR Jason Haber demonstrated why he has been one of the most dangerous WRs in the game throughout his career with a career day, tallying 5 catches for 267 yards and 3 scores http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=692771

Season 11 was a banner year for the Tigers who rolled through OPL on their way to a perfect 20-0 record and the OPL championship. BDC had moved on to the inaugural season of the WL, but the teams continued their rivalry with a scrimmage game that season with BDC coming out on top 46-24 http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=783711 . Matt Anderson and Greg Jones #6 carried the rock effectively all day rushing for 264 yards on 38 carries and 4 TDs between them.

Season 12 saw the Tigers join BDC in the WL in a difficult season for both squads. The teams did not meet until the postseason scrimmages and the Tigers had begun the rebuilding process by that point, with BDC dominating the matchup from start to finish in a 255-0 victory.

Season 13 finds both teams back in OPL. BDC has made an attempt to rebuild on the fly, while the Tigers continued their long-term rebuilding efforts. Only time will tell which team has chosen the right path, but the teams will renew their rivalry in week 15. The Tigers are undermanned at this point but are showing signs of life and no doubt have had this game circled on their calendars all season long. I expect an outstanding effort from the Tigers today and they could certainly put a scare into the BDC crew in this one.

Good luck today to the Tigers!

that stuff is the real heartbeat of GLB!

"reminds" me of the humiliating loss CCC took in the S11 Superbowl vs the Tigers...

I´m in the mood to write that stuff for the NMI - CCC rivalry cause I play them today with EEA, but we all know those games were anything but close and the winning was one-sided

Big game today, YOU READY CINTEX!

BDC = OPRO Pride

There aren't many left who remember the halcyon days of O-Pro zeta....but I like to remind people of season 9 occasionally.

The final standings if I remember correctly (I'm not positive about 3-6) were:

1. Mata-Utu Voodoo (14-2)
2. Osaka Buckeyes (13-3)
3. Brisbane Heat (12-4)
4. Banzai Pipeline 'Nites (12-4)
5. Kingston Uprising (12-4)
6. Samoa Gangsters (12-4)
7. So Cal BDC (12-4)
8. Tasmania Tigers (9-7 but a huge rally after an 0-4 start)

This was the season of the SI slam, but there were teams still passing in our league and everyone was beating everyone else at the top. You could have made a legit case for any of these teams to win Zeta that season heading into the playoffs.....but of course we were all playing for 2nd in OPL since WSI was unbeatable at that time.

This was truly the meat-grinder.

hell yeah, there were quite some of these seasons in zeta... nice list of teams, oh melancholie, BUT SI slam was S8 when WSI lost the final surprisingly. Nautilus made that move the first time in this season, cost WSI quite some reputation and the trophy! http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=473080

Man, Zeta was so awesome when it had all these monster teams. I regret not giving So Cal one last showdown with Samoa before I sold, they were one of the rivals I most remembered.

I still preferred S1-S5 in OPL when teams were still trying to rapidly adjust to every un-announced change Bort would make to his sim.
It drove me *%@#ing nuts, but was part of what kept me interested in retrospect. How to out-Bort Bort......

Wait, you mean that's how it was in S1-5 too? I thought it was like that now...

at least there is a changelog now.
How often it is utilized is another matter altogether.
