Looks like only a couple semi close games this week, both in Naga conf. Don't think there were any upsets this week though.

As for the playoffs here is where we are:

Naga
Far as i can tell nothing has changed for locked teams. There is a huge fight right now for the bottom 4 spots between 5 teams. Dallas is probably the longest shot right now at taking a playoff spot but they do have one thing that could help them make it in. They won a victory over Vella earlier in the season. Unfortunately Vella has a bit easier schedule than Dallas so it will be tricky for them to make it unless one of the other 8-6 teams drop both games.

On the eliminated side, Salvador's loss put them out of any chance of the playoffs. They never had the lead in their game but they put up a good effort.

Garuda
In Garuda the Grizzlies have joined the list of locked in teams. Though they only have 2 games over the 8-10th place teams they have beaten all 3 of them so they would have the head to head over those teams if they lose both their next games.
Each of the 4 remaining teams looking for a spot have at least 1 game where they are the underdog, with the toughest schedule (in my opinion) being St Mary's. This could prove their ultimate downfall from the playoffs if they can't pull off 1 win. With losses to War machine and Angola they could have serious problems if they end up in a tie.

Though i haven't gone through every situation it looks like we could potentially have a 4 way tie for the last 2 spots which will have it come down to head to heads and then possibly points.

For eliminated teams, the Stanly Bears join the eliminated teams with their loss to Taiping.

Week 15 might settle who is in or out, but nothing will be set until week 16 with some very key games coming up to determine placement.

Lets say... The last game between your team and mine and the CAT are 14-1 going into that game and you are 13-2 going into that game. If you Knights win, will that keep you at the 4th spot or would your team go ahead of the Karls if the three of us all tied at 14-2? Karls would have beat the Knights but the CATS beat the Karls and the Knights beat the CATS???? Who is good at that math please???

Just win and keep it less confusing.

As far as i can tell it would end up like this. If we (Knights) win over you (Taiping) we would have a likely 3 way tie for 2nd. Head to head would also be a tie as we would have each beaten one of the other (hot karls being the 3rd team). It should then go down to points. I think they changed something so that it would be points allowed instead of points scored. If that is the case it would be (as of right now) 2nd Buffalo (93 points allowed) 3rd Taiping (101 points allowed) 4th Hanoi (165 allowed). If it's still points scored then it would be Buffalo, Hanoi, Taiping. It could even be just points scored or allowed in our head to heads but i would have to go find what the change was exactly.

If we lose, then it will end up being Taiping, Hanoi, Buffalo in 2nd-4th. This of course assumes some things- That Hanoi wins both games, that we both win our next games. If hanoi loses 1 and buffalo wins both then it would be just tied between us and taiping which would still put it as the points scenario just for different reasons. Since hanoi has the head to head on us the only way we could end up in 3rd is if we win 1 game and they lose both the last 2.

It is possible for hanoi or buffalo to drop to 5th if we lose both games and similan wins out as we both won head to head but we are only seperated by 1 win.

How are the standings determined? The Destroyers lost to the Exiles and they both have the same record but Detroit is above. I thought the tiebreaker was head-to-head.

Good question. As far as i can tell it should be Exiles, Destroyers, Cannabis. Since Exiles and Cannabis have not yet played each other there cannot be a 3 way head to head tie yet. It almost appears that head to head record is not being considered first. Could be a possible bug. It almost seems like it's ignoring the Exile/Destroyer head to head once it goes into a 3 way tie.

This was the announced change on this seasons roll over:
Points scored changed as first tiebreaker, instead it will be points allowed. This makes sense to go with blowouts being discounted more.

So the head to head should still count. I'll post it into the bugs forum, perhaps one of the mods can find the reason (or move it up as a legitimate bug).

I'm 99% sure head to head only counts in a two-way tie. Once a third team is in the mix, it goes to points. Since the season isn't over and not everyone has played each other yet, the rankings between teams that are tied are probably just arbitrary. I'm on a team that was in a different spot on our team page compared to the league page, and there's more than 2 teams tied at that record.

Well once you get past plain records, it goes to head to head matchups first, or it should. And it uses that for any tie no matter how many teams are involved. Since in a 2 way you can't have more than 1 head to head matchup so it would never go to points. If you have 3 teams with the same record but one beat both other teams, that team would be first. Since we each play every team in our conf that would mean (at game 16) that one of the other two teams won, the other lost so you would have head to head of 2-0, 1-1,0-2

If 3 teams have each beaten each other once (each 1-1), then it would go to points allowed (with the change this season).

The trouble is that even if it did ignore head to head, the order is still incorrect because cannabis has allowed fewer points than exiles so far so they should be in 2nd.

This whole issue will not matter in our league since it seems likely that once cannabis and exiles play their records will change and then it probably will be a 2 way tie again between destroyers and one of those two teams. It's just to make sure there isn't some sort of bug in the system that bort didn't account for.

Oh here's the info from the wiki, it's from november ('09)so the only part that is wrong is that the order of points allowed and scored are reversed now.

When two or more teams have the same regular season record, seeding comes down to the following tiebreakers.

To determine the winner of a tie within a Conference the following Tiebreakers go into effect:

1. If there are only 2 teams tied (same record), higher seed is the winner of the head-to-head match up.
2. If there are more than 2 teams tied (same record), then it's based upon these factor in this order:
1. Number of head-to-head wins against the other tied teams with the same record.
2. Number of total points scored.
3. Number of total points allowed.

well they locked it as not a bug. *shrug* It's still an error in the calculations but not one that will affect our league. Shame they won't actually accept that there is something wrong anyways even if it's because of the lack of one of the head to head games .

The thread was locked for the same reason I pointed out... it's arbitrary right now since 2 of the teams will still play each other. Sure it could be fixed to include the points during the season, but I'm sure most of us agree that there are bigger issues to be worked on.
