We're officially halfway into the season and this forum is quite boring so I'm posting how I think come playoff time, the seeds will look. Any feedback is appreciate and encouraged so tell me how off you think I am.
1. Sahara Storm - We start off with the other Sahara...not sure I can keep calling them that with the whooping they keep giving us but it'll do for now. After that dominant showing vs Eden, the other Sahara is looking to go undefeated. They still have some tough teams left on their schedule, most notably the Silverbacks - a game which will likely determine who gets the #1 seed. I know that's one game I'll be watching! Like their owner/GM has said, they haven't appeared to change too much from last season yet their results have showed the exact opposite. I've got my eyes on you other Sahara!
I'd like to know how they have improved so much from last season...will someone tell me? Anybody? SS has always been a strong team but they've just completely gone into another level.
2. Zambezi Silverbacks - Through the first half of the season the Silverbacks have beat everyone but one team where the sim may not have done them any favors missing 2 FGs. They looked unbeatable for the first 7 games blowing out everybody. This week they look to have their toughest test of the season playing the Storm, the winner of whom will likely get the very coveted #1 seed. It will be anyone's game and I think whoever wants it more will get the W. EASILY game of the week and possibly the season as the top 2 juggernauts clash. Zambezi is now 2-2 vs Eden after this season's win vs them, in which is one of the better rivalries you'll see. If they matchup vs Eden again in the playoffs look out!
3. Eden Sin - One of the best dynasties in all of GLB we're lucky to have here. As a Canadian BBB expansion team they've done nothing...but win championship after championship and put together one of the best winning streaks of ALL-TIME in GLB. The streak finally came to an epic end after a 21-20 loss to Zambezi in Season 11 where they didn't kick the would-be game winning FG http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=734686&mode=pbp! Yet they still managed to win yet another championship that year avenging their loss to Zambezi in the 2nd round and beating the Monsters in the conference championship. This season their only losses are to the two teams above them and I expect it to stay that way through game 16. They are still as much a threat as any team in this league to win the championship yet again and should be feared come playoff time.
4. Zimbabwe Bulls - This is where it starts getting hazy from seeds 4-9. Do not be fooled by their 4-4 record. Their losses have come to two very tough Saharas, Zambezi and a very confusing Saskatoon team. They have however already beaten the Aces and Monsters in two very close games, which could prove to be crucial if any tiebreakers come into play. They now have a lighter 2nd half to the season where they should creep up the standings from their current 9 seed as other teams hit the tougher part of their schedules. After last season's upset over Nile in the playoffs, this is not a team you want to play when it comes down to it!
5. Alexandria Crimson Evil Aces - After a tough season 12 where they got hammered by most teams, despite playing everyone close, they've seemed to turn the corner this season. They were better then their record last season with chemistry problems, and now that some of the tougher teams are gone, they are taking advantage. After starting off 6-0 they have lost 2 in a row to the Sin and Bulls, and now play the two Saharas back to back in the next two weeks which could possibly end up as a 4 game losing streak.
6. Sahara Sand Monsters - Since making the conference championships in S11 and losing to Eden, things haven't looked great. They missed the playoffs in their first season of AAA due to a tiebreaker to the Sahara Storm which sparked the eventual rivalry the two Saharas now have, although SSM is winless in this rivalry. With blowout losses to rivals Storm and Sin and a tough loss to the Bulls they started out 2-3. Now they have won their last 3 games, including a near shutout against Saskatoon and a huge upset of Zambezi to put them 2-1 against Zambezi all-time. SSM has historically always started out weak no matter the schedule and finished strong and it will be interesting to see if that pattern continues. This week they get another tough matchup vs the Aces and I expect quite the game!
7. Nile Crocodiles - After a very successful regular season in this league as one of the favorites to win it all in S12, only losing to the Silverbacks, eventual conference champs, and the Vulcanos? they faltered in the playoffs losing in the first round to the Bulls. I'm not sure what has happened this season, perhaps still shocked from the way last season ended. They have had a relatively, very easy starting schedule finishing the first half 6-2 with close losses in their interconference matchup and to the Turtles. With that loss to the Turtles, I should have the Turtles in this spot over the Crocs. The reason I do not is simply because of last season, knowing how deadly the Crocs bite is I have to give them the benefit of the doubt and the fact that these 2 teams appear very evenly matched I have to give the nod to Nile. However, they will seriously have to step up their game now entering a much tougher 2nd half to their schedule with the Flames the only non-playoff team left to play.
87. Saskatoon Vulcanos - Another Canadian BBB expansion team, they're likely the most confusing team in the league, at least for one person. They somehow beat the Bulls then got blown out by both Saharas and Eden. This team can really finish anywhere from 4th-10th depending on which Saskatoon shows up. By looking at their roster it seems they have some major problems. Much like the Aces, they had a tough time last season in this league yet putting up resistance in a lot of their games. I wonder though, can they also, like the Aces, officially turn the corner? I don't think they will but who knows? I have them finishing 8th with the win to the Bulls being the only team they beat above them. Just like they had 1 huge upset last season over Nile, I expect this season to be the same with the Bulls. LHC could be here just as easily.
