Seven Step Drop - Week 2 Edition
Luke Brinn

Here are seven thoughts and observations from Week 2 in the OPL:

All good stories must come to a close. Thus was the case with the Lycan's 57 game win streak.
The Lycan's entered the OPL with a big giant bullseye on their back. I think every team in the league was chomping at the bit to get a chance to end that impressive streak they had going. Unfortunately it happened sooner than expected with a thumping from the So Cal BDC. This still remains as one of the most impressive streaks in all of GLB, and is just another shining star to Oceania's already bright sky. Definitely a team representing Oceania very well!

Are the Sun Devils flying under the radar?
I can admit when I may have overlooked someone, and the Sun Devils was most definitely one of those teams. The Devils have started the season flying out of the gates with two impressive wins over some decent teams. Are they contenders? With “Maybe Next Time Foo” running the way he is and blowing over the competition, I would most definitely say they are.

Does Ice-Man Kazanski have room in his trophy case for some more gold?
The man who dropped 10,000 yards in the USA AA last season has already passed for over 1,000 yards in just two games! While that will fall short of his season 12 shellacking, he is still poised to get yet another shiny gold one to add to his already massive collection.

The battle for the Gold Coast turned out to be a war.
While most eyes were on the BDC vs. Lycans game, we had a heated matchup brewing right around the corner. For those who watched it were treated to a great battle between two well rounded teams, which ended with all of us screaming for Bort to implement 2 point conversions. Regardless of the controversy, this was one of the best games to watch in Week 2 and I for one will be looking forward to a possible post season matchup between these two.

When we were looking for a competitor to Denver, we should have looked at BDC's own Roster.
Maybe it was because he said nothing to the media when he arrived at So Cal. He unpacked is bags, kept to himself and went to work. But Busy Child has unleashed hell so far on OPL and is on pace for 88 sacks which would smash his career high. With Denver known around these parts as the bee's knees, I would say he has some stiff competition within his own ranks. Game on!

Speaking of BDC, what are they putting in Matt Anderson's kool-aid?
Matt Anderson has been a mediocre running back at best in Oceania, but boy are the folks in So Cal kicking themselves right now. Kept around merely for depth, Matt was placed as the teams returner merely because they didn't have one. The end result? 6 returns so far in the regular season and 31 more in preseason/ranked scrimmages. I'm not sure if there is a fountain of youth out there, but if there is....Matt has certainly found it.

Who said anything about a decline? Deion "Lock Down" Sanders is on pace to tie his career high by mid season!
Speaking of old men, Deion "Lock Down" Sanders recently referred to himself as a fine wine. He only gets better with age. We are certainly seeing that from him. Last season, he finished with the second best performance of his 11 year career. And now Deion has topped himself and put himself in position to have his best year yet. Definitely keep an eye on this guy, and if I was an opposing QB...I'd avoid him at all costs.

I think Luke is selling MA a little short with his "mediocre...at best" comment. Matt has some OPL gold in his trophy case. Granted, he hasn't won any trophies since season 6, but it is still there

Sorry for the confusion, but Ice Man was in USA AA last season, not AAA. We were moved this season from AAA to here.

Thanks for the coverage. That stuff makes the game so much richer. One thing to keep in mind when looking back at our game with GCV, if we had been down at the end our K had a chip shot to win it as far as he was concerned

GO GCMM!!!

LOL, I just realized most if not all of that is Alpha. My bad... I try to spread it out, I just get more feedback and participation from Alpha.

Even the mail bag which might be done in the next day or so is filled with alpha questions and players.

Zeta has a chance to get in the mix, but they need to speak up!

I was wondering why none of our guys were in the MVP race the other day....then I realized I was looking at the wrong conference. True story.

I remember those days well....

Edit: I really want to bring the IC Incinerators back, but really do not have the opportunity to do it right now, maybe in a couple of seasons.

Zeta still has some quality, but it does appear that Alpha has taken the lead.

Keep up the good work, and mix in a few Zeta bites. It is the xmas season after all.
