Warning: Putting the warning out above here. If you get butthurt easily or whine when someone says something not nice about your team. Please do not read. No I will not reveal the names of the people who assisted in writing this, it doesn’t matter its all in good fun and all the old time Oceania folks already know and enjoy that.
Enjoy.
Michael Wilbon: Pardon the Interruption, but I am Michael Wilbon. Tony, we're BACK in the OPL! You ever been this excited to go down?
Tony Kornheiser: And I'm Tony Kornheiser....yeah once, but I was really drunk and did not enjoy it.
Michael Wilbon: I'm not talking about that you goon, I meant from the World League!
Tony Kornheiser: She was really hot though. I forget her name...
Michael Wilbon: I don't want to hear about that...
Tony Kornheiser: Welcome to PTI boys and girls, in today's episode we take a long look at this upcoming season, the Gangsters hang it up, and OPL's World League representation...
Tony Kornheiser: But we begin todays episode with your boys Wilbon. So Cal BDC. They're back in the OPL after a 2 season vacation in the World League. Do you think they will get back to their winning ways?
Michael Wilbon: First off, what I want to know is why they're the only team to recover from the World League?
Tony Kornheiser: Yeah, seems like all the other teams have just vanished off the face of this earth.... maybe its something in the water up there?
Michael Wilbon: I'm not too sure, but it is puzzling to see those teams return to their homeland in shambles.
Tony Kornheiser: So do you see BDC suffering the same fate?
Michael Wilbon: No way! I see them going back to their old ways of putting a hurt on the OPL.
Tony Kornheiser: I agree with you there, last season was their worst ever. I think they come back strong in a league they've been pretty successful at.
Michael Wilbon: You got that right, they have been pretty darn good in the OPL, and there's nothing that leads me to believe they wont continue that success...
Tony Kornheiser: Except maybe nerfing Denver again...
Tony Kornheiser: Speaking of the World Pro League, with BDC, The Tigers and the Crushers out, what was once 3 is now 2 teams representing the Oceania Pro League.
Tony Kornheiser: Wilbon, how well do you think the Gunners and Megalodons will be in the WPL?
Michael Wilbon: This is a tough one Tony. Generally speaking, I believe the Gunners are the better team.
Tony Kornheiser: They clearly are.
Michael Wilbon: But they're not even representing as OPL Champions.
Tony Kornheiser: I bet that one still stings, but does one game really matter? They had a pretty solid season...
Michael Wilbon: I think it shows they can stumble. That under pressure, maybe they're not that good. They're on the biggest stage now and each game is pretty much a championship game.
Tony Kornheiser: But do we both agree that the Megalodons don't stand a chance?
Michael Wilbon: The Megalondons' division is just too strong. I mean 4 premier USA teams in 1 division, plus a few other 2 time WPL'ers, its just going to be too much to handle.
Tony Kornheiser: And what about the Gunners?
Michael Wilbon: They have a fighting chance, if they stick to it.
Tony Kornheiser: I think we will see them both back here next season.
Michael Wilbon: We'll see.
Michael Wilbon: In other news, we have just found out that after 12 great seasons in Oceania MrMoose and the Sanoma Gangsters have decided to hang it up. Tony, you and I have both seen some great OPL teams drop off over the seasons, but this has gone to be one of the biggest hits?
Tony Kornheiser: Yeah, it saddens me to see them go. They were always a scrappy little group, but always a pleasure to play against.
Michael Wilbon: And thats what bugs me the most about this whole thing. Each season its the same story...a treasured owner bows out because of the constant changing of the game and having it be too much to keep up with...
Tony Kornheiser: But don't you think that brings out the competitive edge in teams? Who can adjust? Who has the quality builds?
Michael Wilbon: I don't think so, I think its more of a who lucked out and has the right team for that seasons sim.
Tony Kornheiser: It's definitely a lot to do every season, and I don't blame him for taking a break.
Michael Wilbon: So you think he'll be back?
Tony Kornheiser: Oh no doubt, he means too much for the OPL to just disappear like that. I think he'll miss us as much as we'll miss him.
Michael Wilbon: He'll certainly be missed.
Tony Kornheiser: Yeah he will.
Tony Kornheiser: Well even though the Gangsters are bowing out, we still have some pretty decent teams in the OPL Wilbon. How do you see these conferences playing out?
Michael Wilbon: While a lot of these teams are new faces to me Tony, I think there are some clear standouts.
Tony Kornheiser: I think Alpha is pretty easy to decide, they're pretty top and bottom heavy there...
Michael Wilbon: It will be a battle for the top in the Alpha and I agree its pretty much only 4 teams there...Lycans, BDC, Rebels, and Maori
Tony Kornheiser: What about N.M.I.? You know they've improved since you last saw them?
Michael Wilbon: Eh? I'm not too sure about them just yet...
Tony Kornheiser: But they were a top dog last season?
Michael Wilbon: And now we have some bigger dogs ahead of them.
Tony Kornheiser: They're in my list of contenders..
Michael Wilbon: They're in your top 3?
Tony Kornheiser: Well not top 3, more like top 5.
Michael Wilbon: Eh? I wont buy into that just yet.
Michael Wilbon: However Tony, I don't think the Zeta division is that clear cut. Its always known as the "meat ginder" of OPL, but im not sure thats the kind of label I want to give them this season?
Tony Kornheiser: To me its more like the mush pot. Not really that a team that stands out screaming "LOOK AT ME!" on a premier level, which might make that even more interesting.
Michael Wilbon: Yeah, whenever you have that level or balance in a conference it makes for some pretty interesting play. I really like the Knightmares, especially because they've been around the block and are still puttin it down.
Tony Kornheiser: Knightmares still around? Yeah thats a pretty well rounded team....id put em up there.
Michael Wilbon: I'll also have some Flying Foxes..
Tony Kornheiser: True Oceania team there...
Michael Wilbon: And the Megalodons.
Tony Kornheiser: What about the Lost Souls?
Michael Wilbon: Jury is still out on them...
Tony Kornheiser: I think they're not too bad.
Tony Kornheiser: Now on to the game Wilbon can never get right, Over / Under, with your Host Anthony Joseph Minestrone Guacamole Full of Baloney Reali.
Tony Reali: Hahaha, First up. Over or Under... the Liechtenstein Lycans achieve 59 consecutive wins?
Michael Wilbon: If I go over on this, that means im saying the Lycans will hit 60 which would include wins over the Megalodons, BDC and the Fighting Maori. 3 pretty tough opening games.
Michael Wilbon: I think if the Lycans lose on the way to 60 wins, it will be in their first two games.
Tony Kornheiser: Didn't we just say the Megalodons are in the World League?
Michael Wilbon: These are another Megalodons...
Tony Kornheiser: An OPL Megalodons?
Michael Wilbon: Yes an OPL Megalodons.
Tony Kornheiser: Ah ok, I went from not knowing what a Megalodons was, to now knowing two of them. What a difference two seasons in the World League makes.
Michael Wilbon: Yeah, anyways, I'm going with under on this I don't see the Lycans beating both BDC and the OPL's Megalondons in back to back games.
Tony Kornheiser: I think they'll beat the Megalodons no problem, I think it all boils down to BDC. And its not unusual for BDC to come stumbling out of the gates. They're more of an adjustment kind of team that makes a strong mid season push for the playoffs.
Michael Wilbon: So you're taking the over?
Tony Kornheiser: YES! Im going over! Next!
Tony Reali: Can't go wrong with a team that has won 56 straight.
Tony Reali: Next up, DenverLast Dinosaur finishes 2nd in the Defensive MVP race?
Tony Kornheiser: OPL's pride and joy... so going over means I'm saying Denver continues where he left off and thats begins with reclaiming his OPL MVP Trophy.
Michael Wilbon: He was pretty nerfed last season? It wasn't fun to watch at all...
Tony Kornheiser: Yeah they did a number on him, but so far with minimal defensive packages deployed and being that its preseason he already has half of his season 12 sacks in 3 games?
Michael Wilbon: I think Jdros has been trying hard to right that ship, and maybe he's figured out a thing or two.
Tony Kornheiser: That or Bort unnerfed him.
Michael Wilbon: Is that even a word?
Tony Kornheiser: I'm sure it is, look it up!
Tony Kornheiser: I will go over on this one, Denver is definitely a favorite at this point and to be quite honest I really don't know who will give him a run for his money?
Michael Wilbon: Is Liquid Rush still around?
Tony Kornheiser: Umm, no.
Michael Wilbon: What about the TANK?
Tony Kornheiser: Nope?
Michael Wilbon: What about that dude who was announced on the OPL main forum?
Tony Kornheiser: Who? (HULK) (FARTSALOT)?
Michael Wilbon: Yeah I saw quite a bit of sluprage for him in the forums this offseason.
Tony Kornheiser: Well, Denver outplayed him in their scrimmage and thats with BDC purposely blowing the 2nd qtr to test their come from behind VA's.
Michael Wilbon: Good point, I'm going over as well. Reali, next one?
Tony Reali: HULK is a great agent, you gotta respect any player managed by an agent like that.
Tony Reali: Next Up, 2 1/2 OPL teams in the World League next season?
Tony Kornheiser: I think from our previous statements this hinders on how well we really think the Gunners are going to do.
Tony Kornheiser: I've already said I think both are coming back this offseason so i'll make it short and sweet and say under.
Michael Wilbon: I say they have a chance Tony. I look at that division and think they got the luck of the draw on this one.
Michael Wilbon: I honestly believe if they put forth the effort this season and the sim treats them well they'll snag a bottom seed. So i'll go with Over.
Tony Kornheiser: Good luck with that. Over Under is OVER.
Tony Kornheiser: One minute left lets go to the big finish!
Michael Wilbon: Let's do it.
Tony Kornheiser: There is some trash talking going around and 5Star is nowhere to be found? Wilbon what do you make of all this?
Michael Wilbon: I like it! Too bad they're not in the same conference.
Michael Wilbon: Tony your boys the Pagan Fire Eaters are screaming not to count them out. Are you as glad as me to still see them in the mix?
Tony Kornheiser: You know N.M.I. are my boys, I was glad to see them get here and was bummed when we departed. Sucks they're going to get smacked around in Alpha this season....
Tony Kornheiser: The Hazy Tournament matchups were announced, Wilbon do you see any 2nd round guarantees?
Michael Wilbon: If I was a betting man, I'd put all my money on the Lycans.
*HORN*
Tony Kornheiser: Time is up, we'll try and do better the next time. Im Tony Kornheiser.
Michael Wilbon: And I'm Michael Wilbon, same time tomorrow knuckleheads.
Tony Kornheiser: Goodnight Canada.
Enjoy.
Michael Wilbon: Pardon the Interruption, but I am Michael Wilbon. Tony, we're BACK in the OPL! You ever been this excited to go down?
