Since we don't have a legitimate game tomorrow, I thought I would weigh in on the season. So far, I am only three teams away from my "no one goes undefeated prediction" proving true. If the Swastikas are going to go undefeated, they are not going to do this easy. They have had some close ones so far, but all that matters is you win by at least one.
For us Silverbacks, the season could not be going better. We had hoped for an 11-5 season. We would have been ecstatic with that. However, as of tomorrow we will close the mid-season with a 8-0 record. 11-5 seems all but certain and we should fare better. But and this is a big butt like Mrs. billsaidsux has, we still have not played 6 of the top 9 in Lion Conference. So 11-5 may be where we finish.
The top teams look good and the bottom teams look decent. As I mentioned earlier in the season, you can't take anyone for granted. But the clear difference is game planning this season. There are teams clearly leaving points on the table by not covering their bases.
I have decided I want to see a Nigerian vs Nigeria Super Bowl. I just wish there was an announcer for that. Imagine a team Howard Cossel and John Madden, announcing that for you older dudes out there. Confusion would reign. Put Joe Namath on the sidelines drunk and handling sideline reporting, boo yah!! That would be worth the price of admission.
Lion looks like a crap shoot right now. Any one of 3 teams can take it all, I think. We Silverbacks are not one of them. Angola looked like they were head and shoulders above everyone, and then they lost. Nigeria Looks tough and may be the class of Lion, but they lost the first game to Elephant. The team to beware of is Beltway. They started the season with some pretty bad chemistry. They fixed it and have been on a roll.
Tomorrows game of Nigeria vs Beltway is the most interesting game of the week for me.
Well, I have to start game planning for our death march through Nigeria, Eden and then a couple of stops in ancient Egypt. Why Saskatoon is in an African league I will never fathom. Canadians screw up everything, eh.
