This week I supplied two games of the week for both conferences! Enjoy!
Games to Watch
Balanced Game of the Week
Samoa Gangsters @ Olden Swillers
Samoa & Olden are beasts within Zeta. Both teams have a top 10 Offense, Samoa has a top 10 Defense, while Olden’s is ranked #16. Both of these teams can bang it with the best of them and they are very evenly matched on paper. Olden will have to step it up defensively in this one I believe. When push comes to shove though, I have a hunch this game is going to be about turnovers, who gets the most and what do they do with them. Protect that Football folks, this game could come back to haunt you later.

Underrated Underdog Game of the Week
Vanuatu Volcano @ Atlantis Lost Souls
I am going with ALS as the Underdog here. The Volcano have the #1 Defense in the league right now but their offense struggled a bit statistically in terms of ranking. ALS struggled a bit on defense but offensively they have done very well. But lets face it, more often than not, Defense wins championships and Vanuatu definitely has a good one over there. This game is going to come down to whether or not either of teams can get their offense on track and score a ton of points, because defensively, Vanuatu could very well have this game locked up.

Powerhouse Game of the of the Week
Brisbane Bulldogs @ Sydney Jellybirds
First of all, before we get into the game talk, I have hired a Private investigator and some Conservationist workers, they are looking into the mystery of the Jellybird, first reports coming back right now are that a Jellybird is a Strawberry Flavored Ostrich. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about this mystery bird.
So, where was I? Oh yea, Brisbane, they pulled off a tight game against NMI in week one and they’ve done fairly well statistically. They are looking to build upon a team that had a HUGE win over Taylor in week one. The Jellybirds have the 3rd & 4th best O & D respectively and they are obviously looking to put down the second dog in 2 weeks. Two Dogs with one Bullet? Talking about Crowd Control? Hey, I’m not writing off the Bulldogs by any means, I think both of these teams have great talent, I think they’re both powerhouses in Zeta and I would highly expect one of them to emerge in the top 2 of their conference after this weeks game, for Brisbane that would be a HUGE jump.

Middle of the Road Game of the Week
Bay City Bohica @ Sunshine Coast Ridahz
Both BCB & SCR lost in week 1. I still think they’re decent teams, BCB has a top 5 O & D, SCR is not ranked well statistically, but keep in mind it’s through 1 week, and stats are a very very small part of the equation, if part of it at all really. They both have solid squads and potential. For SCR it’s going to be about starting something offensively and capitalizing on any mistakes that BCB may make, for BCB it’s going to be about stopping that SCR offense from getting started and not making mistakes. This one could go either way and it could be a downward spiral or blessing in a basket for either one of these teams.

Oceania Pro Alpha ‘Blitzorade’ Game of the Week
Williamsport Soul Reavers @ (N.M.I) Pagan Fire Eaters
This game seems all too familiar, I would almost call this a rivalry, but in their previous 2 meetings, NMI has NEVER beaten Williamsport, this being the 3rd opportunity for NMI to rebound they have a team even more capable of doing so than ever. Statistically the only thing NMI really has going for them is that Iron Leg of Gus the Mule, but stats mean very little in the scheme of things. WSR knows all too well not to take teams for granted, they’ve done that in the past, look how that worked out for them… WSR has a to 15 Offense that needs to improve but defensively they are #2 in the league. They’ve gotten considerably better year in and year out and they’ll be looking to prove that the big victory in week 1 was not a fluke. The saying is true, the best team will win this game. The team that draws first blood, may not be the team to draw last blood and it could happen that these two teams meet again in the post season. But one thing is for sure, there will be tons of noise and lots of scores (or very few) in this one, expect a 3-7 point game, and pure smash mouth football!
Oceania Pro Alpha ‘RedBull-Flag Game of the Week
Taylor Bulldogs @ Cascade Cajun Crushers
Taylor had a crushing defeat in week one, no pun intended, as the Jellybirds put up 72 points on them. Statistically, they are ranked as one of the worst in the league. So what makes this game Game of the Week worthy? My hope/belief, that Taylor is better than they played against Zeta. They’ll need to be to have even a remote chance of Beating CCC. CCC, we know damn well is the team to beat in Alpha as they should be. In week 1 as they put up 66 points on Chillicothe, they began to prove that once again. This week they face a team that really wants to get back on track, this could end up being a ‘joke of a game’ or it could turn into a show stopper. Their offense right now is playing lights out football and they’re going to try to take advantage of a distraught Taylor team this week. Folks, call the EMT’s, this one might get ugly!

Oceania Pro Zeta ‘Tostito Goal’ Game of the Week
Guadalcanal Gunners @ Solomon Islands Alchemy
Obviously both of these teams proved something in week 1. First of all, the Gunners proved their ability to play big, when questioned by ‘yours truly’ despite the strong finish last season, they proved how much better they HAVE gotten when they took down the competition like it was a Pee Wee team. SIA has been questioned endlessly since they arrived here in Pro, and if nothing else they proved their ability to play big in regular season games. Clearly these two teams feel like they belong here (as they should) and clearly they are out to prove people wrong about the doubt. Already statistically both teams are ranked in the top 10 on both sides of the ball. Look for this game to come down to the last possession or two and whether or not one team can create a few turnovers to change the pace of the game. This is going to be a barn burner folks, you better just hope it ain’t your farm that’s on fire!
Oceania Pro Zeta ‘4th Quarter Pounder” Game of the Week
Tasmania Tigers @ Kingston Uprising
Tasmania, let me throw out a bit of info about Taz. They were regarded as a team that tend sot ‘drop the ball when it matters most’ last season. Is that true? Hell I don’t know and quite frankly I don’t care. What I do know is that they didn’t drop anything last week and this week they are going to be focused on putting up big #’s with that #2 Offense & #3 Defense. Kingston however has a top 10 defense and a top 5 offense of their own, they’ll too be looking to put up big #’s and come up with a huge win in the Zeta Conference. Everyone here knows damn well these teams are for real, no matter what they say publicly. Both of these teams are sure to impress in this game, and when its all over and the smoke clears, one of these teams will be standing the others will be handing their heads with sorrow!
