I'm looking for two pieces for my center (http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1144713)

I rolled a +3 Agility +1 Line General piece that will turn into a +6 strength, +3 agility, +4 line general piece at level 40. I feel pretty good about that.

But my question is, what should I look for in a second piece? Should I go Line General again so I can more or less pay little attention to the pass block tree?

Or should I go elsewhere?

Four pieces that I have found as a backup piece are

1) +1 Line General (no stat boost)
2) +1 Quick Cut (no stat boost) ---- currently wearing this one
3) +1 run block (no stat boost)
4) + 2 confidence, +1 First Step

So what do you think? Should I keep one of those pieces or keep on looking?

Am I correct in keeping the +3 agility +1 line general piece?

Also, I have some SP left, where should I put them? Does Speed need to be higher than 49? I'm done with strength and blocking so those aren't options (14:1 cap and 8:1 cap). Vision and Confidence I have kept low so I can train them.

Speed (49 nat), Agility (70.18 nat), or SAs? And which tree? Thanks!

I would continue on with Line General and get that nice and high. I think having both pieces there is just fine.
As for your build, he looks pretty good for his level, I think you need to start working on Vision/Confidence though, train those up and then try to softcap both of them, they're both pretty important in my opinion.

+3 Agility +1 LG is a perfect piece. Only +3 Strength +1 LG would be better, and then not all the time.

Of the pieces you listed, I wouldn't choose any of them. Keep searching. It's a total PITA to find usable pieces as a Center, in my experience. You want +3 stat +1 useful SA or +3 stat +5% hold block or +1 useful SA +5% hold block (yeah right, never seen such a piece). Settle for +2 stat or +3% hold block if you're tired of searching. Only consider stats that are useful -- strength, blocking, agility, vision, maybe confidence.

I'm not a fan of speed for Centers. A good center will barely move from the spot he starts in. Speed seems pretty irrelevant if you don't move. I'd start investing in SAs. Run Block is excellent as a Center, and cheap. Hands is also excellent. Line General you want at 10+ eventually (and at level 38, eventually should be soon).

A second line general piece isn't going to be worth a whole lot. In my experience, going 1-1-1-2-4 (15 SP) then putting a piece on top of that is plenty enough. That second piece would just be worth those 15 skill points! Compare to, for example, a simple "get low" piece.

You could go 3-6, and your get low piece would be worth going from 6 to 10 (4+4+5+5 = 18 SP). Already, a get low piece by itself becomes more valuable than a second line general piece...

That is, unless you don't plan on doing ANY SAs (silly for a C...). If you don't like any other SAs, I guess you could stack line generals...

Anyway, my preferred second piece would be anything attached to 'get low.' You can then do 2-4 base and end up with 2-9 at level 56. Or 3-6 and have 3-11, you get the drill. For a get low piece, the only way it will have value is...

with 2% hold block or better
with +1 str/blk
with +2 agi/vis/spd

minimum!

That is what you are looking for, and why

FWIW, my center is currently equipping +1 line general and +1 blocking +1 get low. Both are marginally valuable (but do have value over the bonus tokens alone), but I'm too lazy to shop for better.

SAs don't cap at 10.

No, but they lose value pretty fast. You don't need more than 8-9 line general in my experience.

I'm curious how you're measuring how quickly they lose value.

EDIT: Honest, I'm genuinely curious. I know you're mathematically inclined and have figured out a lot of how the game works. I want to know what you've done on SAs' diminishing returns.

I, too, roll with LG and GL pieces.

+1 LG, +2 Confidence (maxed)
+1 GL (four upgrades ... a meh piece, but doesn't hurt me)

So 33339, 27222 on the trees for now.
