I think the bug is that a throwaway uses the sideline as the "end" of the throw, rather than having the QB heave it into the 10th row of the stands - so it's at a catchable level rather than 20 feet up when it goes over the sideline.

And yes, this is a HUGE problem. The whole reason of throwing it away is to avoid an interception or sack. Thrown away balls should NEVER be intercepted unless the QB is hit while he's trying it or something. What is the point of even throwing it away if there's a chance it'll get intercepted? I'd rather just have my QB at least try to get it to a WR, and if it's picked off, oh well, at least it's farther down the field.
