I rolled a second piece of Line general gear, this one with a +3 Blocking to go with it. I couldn't pass on it even though it was in the same slot as a decent piece of shock block gear. So now I've got a center with a 12 Line General where the base SA is 4 and I'm thinking I could take this to 15 or 16 without spending very much SP on it.

Is it worth it or not?

So you're saying 10 or less as a total is good? It's hard for me to see results as I don't have access to this particular team's game summaries but on teams where i do, Morale and Stamina do seem to be an OLine issue against some defenses.

Well, my Center is rocking 13 right now and I'm feeling much better about him in the last season or to than I did when I only had 8 in it. I think a Center with 15 Line Gen and 15 Natural Leader would be great.

I think the best way to judge is to examine the player in all aspects of his game and consider performance of the line overall as a function of time and judge whether some other SA or ability could make a more significant improvement to the overall performance of the team.

I went with 4 base, 1 from CE, 4 from AEQ for a total of 9 at 43. At 56, the AEQ will get it to 10. Plus 15 in Natural Leader.

I think the SPs past the four base can be used more wisely -- more confidence, vision and eventually, SAs.

More than 10 on any SA is a waste due to diminishing returns. No SA is so good you need more than that. 4 natural points +CE +1AEQ at L56 = 10

Question is, if that diminishing returns are still worth it. Just because you get less bang for a buck doesn't mean it's not worth it.

Right. But my o-line has been solid with only 8 and 10 in natural leader, so in this case I still agree but not for the "diminishing returns" reason.

...that's all about it, folks!

Solid o-line: 7-9 Line General should be enough; reason: if the blockers fail badly once in a while, there's enough time to get in-game confidence up to 100 again

O-line missing blocks and allowing pressure: as high as can be; reason: if the blockers are overmatched almost every snap, in-game morale has to go up as fast as possible in order to prevent a drowning spiral

If you want to find out if your team has a solid o-line or a weak one, check game summary and watch how many (and often) the o-line dots fall down. A blocker failing to block usually does a desperate cut block attempt and/or gets reverse pancaked - so blockers beeing down shows if your o-line fails.
