I've seen this question a few times, and here is the answer:

All teams who didn't make the playoffs, or who have been knocked out of them, will play scrimmage games on their regular schedule every 2 days.

These scrimmage games will be against the other conference's non playoff teams!

No tickets or concessions will be sold for them, though, so make the playoffs to make money! Stats will be collected for them but they are in a separate "scrimmage" category.

This means: Every team will play every 2 days, no matter their playoff status.

They're still leaning to no XP awards though.

ya i know and i dont want scrimmages because now i get no exp in the off-season and last season my fb gained like 2 lvls so i take back about being knocked out at the play-offs

No, technically you don't do anything because it doesn't effect your energy at all. You can still train on intense through the scrimmage games and not lose any energy at all. Scrimmage games help you have fun with tactics, observe new talent you may have picked up, and to have something to do if your team is not in the playoffs (or loses. Not to mention see if that backup may be just as good as the starter.
