Here's how it works:
To Qualify:
-You MUST have a player on the roster of a team in the APL. Africa AAA won't work (sorry, this is for APL only). This isn't for all of GLB (sorry, this is APL only). Being a team owner/GM only won't work. MUST be a player in the APL (more on why later)
What is it?:
- This is an APL Pick 'Em that will be done "weekly". "Weekly" is real time. So every "week", there will be a list of games made. That list will encompass ALL of the APL games (both conferences) for the next 4 "GLB weekly" games (i.e. 16 games per GLB week x 4 "weeks" = 64 games per pick 'em). For example, this will start for the 1st regular season APL games in GLB week 1 and go thru GLB week 4. That will be the 1st contest ("week"). The 2nd "weekly" contest will involve the APL games for GLB weeks 5 thru 8. 3rd "weekly" contest is APL games for GLB weeks 9 thru 12. 4th contest is for games in GLB weeks 13 thru 16. There will also be a "playoff special" which will involve picking the winners of the playoff games (more on this later).
Rules of the Contest:
-As stated, as an agent participating in the contest, you must have at least one player on an APL team's roster at the time of your picks. If you have a player on an APL roster and pick for the 1st weekly contest and leave in week 5 for example, you are no longer eligible to participate.
-ALL picks must be submitted at least 1 hour prior to the start of the 1st APL games played for that contest period. So for contest #1, all picks for the APL games of week 1 must be submitted no later than 1 hour before game time of week 1. Same goes for games for GLB week 2. Picks for those games must be submitted 1 hour before game time for week 2 match ups, etc.
-You must have an "official" pick post. Meaning you can post whatever you want in the weekly contest thread, but all of your picks for the games for that week must be in one post. If you edit that post, the 1 hour rule applies. So if you edit your official pick post 58 minutes before game time, that post is null and void and will not be counted. So don't do any grammar edits or whatever!
-Picks will be added up for each set of games and standings posted for each contest. For example, "Weekly Contest #1" will include games for GLB weeks 1 thru 4. After games for week 1 are played, a standings list will be posted on how everyone did for those games. After the games of week 2 are played, same thing, standings will be updated. All the way thru games of week 4 and a "Weekly Contest #1" winner is crowned.
-The winner will be the person with the best overall record for the 64 games of that contest period.
-Tie breaker: There will be ONE game in each contest listed as a "Game of the Week" tie-breaker. 1 game of the 4 "GLB weekly" sets of games will be picked by Outlawz and myself as the "Game of the Week" and will be used in the event there is a tie. That game will be decided on when the "Weekly Contest" is posted and the list of games involved is posted in that initial post. It could be in any of the 4 GLB weeks but will be decided at the start of the weekly contest. The score of that "Game of the week" must be predicted when you submit your picks for those weeks games. In the event of a tie, the person who picked the winner of the Game of the Week will be the contest winner. In the event there is still a tie, the person with the closest overall predicted score (total score differential will be used) will be the winner. In the event that is a tie also, then the winner's prize will be split evenly among the winners for that "weekly contest" period.
What's the prize
-As stated , this is a free flex give away. Each "Weekly Contest" winner will receive a total of 500 free flex points from Outlawz and myself. If you win 2 weekly contests, you've got 1000 FP. If you win all 4 weekly contests, you've got 2000 FP. Remember, the weekly contests are 64 games, not to be confused with GLB weeks. So we'll have 4 regular season contests, at 500 FP total for each contest.
-There will also be an APL playoff pick 'em. It will also be 500 FP to the winner of that contest. Same rules apply for that. All playoff games will be considered one contest. The tie breaker for the playoff contest will be the score of both the Lion and Elephant conference title games AND the APL title game.
Here's where it gets good for the APL owners and GMs. I see a lot of complaining about recruiting and getting told no because you're an APL team, or not even get your PMs responded to. Believe me, I KNOW the deal, I get it too. Even when we won 3 APL titles straight I was told "but it's LOLAPL". I can't count how many times I heard that when recruiting. It's sad to still hear that it's happening. Well, here's your chance that no other region has. Post a copy of this thread in your recruiting PMs. Let them know they have a chance to win FREE flex points EVERY season they are in APL. Who doesn't want to boost your players for free? And who the hell doesn't want to brag that Hokie paid to boost your player? I don't even pay to boost my OWN players. I haven't spent $$$ on GLB since the Black Friday sale last year. I've been living off of retirement FP since then. But I'm going to spend $$$ if it will help APL and more importantly make the APL forums fun! Thank you to Outlawz for going in on this with me!
Some more FP incentive added by LOL's very own Kondor!
If anyone can go 64-0 in a "Weekly Contest" (16-0 all 4 weeks in the same contest), Kondor will pay them an EXTRA 1000 Flex Points
Also, since Kondor doesn't think anyone can go 64-0, he's added 2000 Flex Points to the pool if anyone can win ALL 4 of the "Weekly Contests" (not including the playoff contest). You don't have to go 64-0 to be eligible for this prize, you just have to be the winner of all 4 Weekly Contests.
-Tiebreakers: In the event there is more than 1 person to go 64-0 in a Weekly Contest, the same tiebreaker rules as the main contest will apply (Game of the Week tiebreaker). If there is still a tie, the 1000 FP will be divided equally to the winners. If somehow more than one person wins (ties) all 4 Contests, the person who wins the Playoff Contest will be the 2000 FP winner. To be split if it's still a tie after the Playoff Contest etc (had to get the official rules stuff in there, you never know)
Thank you Kondor!
Added: Shevegas adding another 1000 Flex Points to Kondor's contribution if anyone can go 64-0 in a "Weekly Contest". All the same rules apply as stated above. Thank you Shevegas
Added: Cavalier has added 10,000 Flex Points to the 64-0 record in a Weekly Contest. No we know who the rich owners are in EE . Thank you Cavalier!!!
