They mean a little more than crap, especially if you have the Showboat Blocker VA. You can really hurt a guy's feelings after a couple punks.

So... why are pancakes "pointless"? Doesn't that mean they take them out of the play for a little a second or so. Doesn't it also greatly effect the opponent's moral?

The idea that they don't matter came from elitist player builders who basically snapped at anyone who wanted to get pancakes for their O-lineman. They assumed that if you build for pancakes, your blocker can't block as well as someone who built for holding blocks. This has always been ridiculous because you can build players to do both just as well as someone who's focusing on one aspect of blocking. And yes, they are huge for reducing morale even without Showboat Blocker.

And Mister Blob wins, though I hope my C can compete with him next season

Its really very situational, pancakes are great for Cs and Gs who block slower DTs, especially on inside runs...the DTs are knocked down and the play moves past them before they can get up and make a play, and the C or G can quickly go downfield and make a block on a LB or Saftey. OTs and Gs blocking fast DEs need to hold the block as long as possible, too often a pancaked DE will get up and make the tackle anyway.

he only has that many because your team(s) have never made it to a high level. Its easy to get pancakes in the lower leagues.

His build is this:

Play for a sub-AAA league and play terrible team after terrible team.

Once you get to AAA and the Pro leagues, youre no longer playing against teams whose players have terrible builds.

Not that he isn't playing against terrible teams/builds, but tbh I've seen some really terrible builds in Pro leagues for players that wouldn't be there if they weren't a higher level than everyone else.

To say they are "pointless" is rediculous.

At the higher levels they don't come at the same rate that they did at lower levels but to say their pointless is absurd. I'm very happy when I see a LT pancake a RDE and then be able to get to the second level to block a ROLB or MLB. In would say it may be pointless to invest heavily in pancake when they come so few and far between. But actually getting them is quite nice thank you very much.
