From Week 1

QUOTE=Pharaoh]Finally!! All the regular season games are done and dusted..now we get down to the business end of the season, the playoffs!! Congrats on the 8 teams to make the Alpha playoffs for season 9. While I think some teams should possibly be ranked higher or lower in the playoffs - I believe the best 8 teams of Alpha made the post season!!

Lets have a look at the upcomming games..

Warsaw Warlocks (1) v Transylvania Vampire Bears (8)

Warlocks went 16-0, Bears went 10-6. On that stat alone you would consider the Warlocks to be hot favorites to take out this one. Well.. there is a reason why the Bears kept the Warlocks to their lowest wining margin all season, it is the opinion of the Warlocks camp that the Bears are the team in the playoffs to take out the Warlocks. Maybe not the championship but the Bears team is very suited to combating the Warlocks potent offense. Led by their star QB Champ Maximus and a very strong D the bears are certinally capable of causing an upset. But in saying that I'll never tip against my own team (Warlocks by 7)

Legal Smexies (4) v Lviv Lions (5)

All indications are that this will be a close game. Smexies will be looking to even up the score after going down to the Lions in regular season, and will now have a better understanding of how the Lions play. And with home field advantage plus a star studded offensive lineup featuring Quebee One at QB plus Mario Dillavechio and TRAYLOR TRASH at HB they are going to be hard to stop.

But for the Lions it's quite simple. Can the Smexies stop their running game? HB's Marcellus Idehi and DJ legend ran all over Smexies last time, and if the Smexies can't find a way to stop the Lions potent running game then we will probably see a repeat of the last game. To be truthful I think boulderdash has something up his sleve..which is why I'm going (Lions by 7)

Ares Assassins (2) v DC Squashers (7)

The Assassins have played strong all season, and deserve their no 2 spot in the playoffs. DC while having played well to make the playoffs probably are a season away from being a true contender. I see this game comming down to another question..can DC stop the Ares running game? Last time they played the Assassins ran all over DC, plus the Ares D did a great job of shuting down DC's excellent passing game.

Star Squashes DT Little Paul-Paul and the D-line need to step up and stop the Assassins hard running HB's Malicious Intent and John 117 aka "The Chief". While DC will give it a red hot go, I think the Assassins will take this one (Ares by 17)

Sevastopol Black Fleet (3) v Moscow Iron Curtain (6)

Black Fleet surprised me by finishing the season at no 3. Plus looking at their win/loss at no time where they blown away. They have shown the league that Sevastopol is a team that demands respect, and if you take them lightly you do so at your own peril.

Moscow on the other hand havn't has as good a season as I thought they would. Thet lost a couple of games I really thought they would win. But if you ask him I'm sure Slade would say, the playoffs are a whole different ball game. Moscow are very experienced and have been here before..

And they are going to need it - on paper Black Fleet are ahead of Moscow in all the important areas passing, rushing and pass and rush D. Moscow and Slade are going to have to come up with a strong game plan, that will help their CB's Jason Sehorn and Steven Porter shut down Black Fleets QB Chollie Ward and their star offense or they are going to be no chance of an upset. Even so I think Black Fleet will take this one, but it will be close (Black Fleet by 10)

so now we are in week 2

Warsaw Warlocks(1) v Legal Smexies (4)

Warsaw managed to overcome a strong Bears showing to advance and while the Smexies couldn't shut down the Lions running game, they focused on their own strengths and managed to out score a determined Lviv team.

Smexies only lost by 12 points in their regular season matchup with the Warlocks, and I'm sure Omle and co would consider themselves a good chance of an upset. To do so they are going to have to shut down a potent Warsaw offense that has scored points freely in the air and on the ground most of the season, and then try and hold the ball on offense against the no 1 forced fumble defense in the league led by the Warlocks SS Dakka Dakka.

Smexies HB TRAYLOR TRASH stepped up against the Lions in week 1 of the playoffs and had an outstanding game, and if that purple patch of form continues it may just give the Smexies the boost they need to advance against the Alpha favorites.

Gameplanning will be very important for this game, with both teams having the tools to get the win, how they execute will be critical. But honestly, with an undefeated record, and home field advantage you just can't go past the Warlocks - (Warsaw by 10)

Ares Assassins (2) v Moscow Iron Curtain (6)

In week 1 of the playoffs Ares dominated a DC team that while put up a good fight, were probably really happy in just making the playoffs, but Moscow surprised many by downing a hot Blackfleet team in a screamer. Experence counts for much in these tight playoffs games and would have been a factor in the Moscow upset.

On paper you would assume that Ares are going to dominate Moscow, they have equal or better talent in all the key areas. Moscow is going to have to find a way to shut down Ares HB's Malicious Intent and John 117 aka "The Chief" who are both in good form.

For Moscow, this game gives them the chance to account for their week 16 shut out by Ares, and while the team will be pumped, I think the Assassins just have to many strike weapons for Moscow to deal with. It will be hard for Moscow to lift again after such a great win againt Blackfleet. (Ares by 21)

You underestimated us once Pharoah! The Moscow Defense is ready. I just hope I have it set right again for this game. We only gave up 24 to Ares last time. We just need some Offense tomorrow and your words will make a great breakfast! Nice job on these write ups. It looks like you put some thought into them unlike some of the others I've seen.

I'd love to see you guys win... I have alot of respect for Moscow, you guys have always been hard opponents!! Nothing against Ares, they are a great team also, but you guys were there from the start with us in AA in season 4 - so while my write up has Moscow as underdogs, I'll be cheering for you. Good luck!!

It's going to be a defensive game no doubt, but that is our strength so it should be a gr8 game as was the 1st one.
