I notice in Borts latest post that there will be restructuring going on close season for A and BB leagues. No news on what that will be, wonder if it means more level playing field for teams.

How did folk think this years re-level did?

The re structure that he did this season was good for the game IMHO. On paper most of the games should have been close (-3 to +3 differences) which has to be good for everyone.

Those +30 games are utterly boring and pointless which do nothing for the game and hold no interest at all for me either as an Owner, GM or agent.

As for what Bort is going to do. I suspect he will shuffle the lower leagues again like he did this season and also make them a ladder rather than pryamid

I must admit I agree with you skvan. Last year (my 2nd as a GM) I got really fed up with getting regularly thumped 200-zip. Was difficult keeping the enthusiasm going I have to say.

This season, I have found it to be a lot more interesting with there just being a few points of a difference between the matchups; more like proper scores. Hopefully the restructure maintains this process.

My biggest beef with the restructure process is that financially it is a killer for those of us who went through the two seasons of thumpings, awaiting our turn at the top....only to get thrown into a league of great competition. For instance, if there would have been no restructure Bern would have clearly been a top 4 team in our old league this season and would have earned a payday of a home playoff game. Don't get me wrong, I love the competition, but still, with the cost of equipment for 32+ it just sucks for those who had a financial plan. I have felt like with the restructure we have had to take a season or two delay.

To be honest I have often thought about building out my stadium a little more and then gutting it to drop down in competition level, so that I can get a team to keep together that I can pay for.

Sometimes I think Bort just does things because he is bored, that has tremendous impact on teams, and makes planning nearly impossible.

In fairness Doug... You guys have been around as long as Cambridge Chieftains have been and we have not had a single play off game either (Hairy can vouch for how stupid tough BBB#1 Alpha was) and right now your stadium is some 27,900 seats smaller than ours. Yes Cambridge have an advantage in that all the players are provided by 3 agents who work together real life so no one is looking to be paid a fortune, but when starting out paying anyone a 'fortune' at the cost of expansion to the stadium is a false economy that at some point MUST catch up to you.
Wise investment by you in your stadium every season since we all started would mean that right now you would not be having a problem with equipment money, it seems rather unfair to blame Borts reshuffle for any problems you might be having. You have been in charge for seasons and have had the option to invest in your stadium and have chosen for a large part not to.

Sorry if that sounds harsh just seems unfair to even try and lay blame on Bort

Let's do this. I would like to see better competition and tighter games. I want to have my staff having to scout plan and be able to think of their team every single game and seeing what plays to run, how the defense should react. I think this will be beneficial.

I don't think I have done anything out of the ordinary at all. In fact 99%$ of my contracts have been the minimum amount with minimum bonus. And every season I have added to the construction of our stadium. Now, I may not have been as wise as every team, but I don't think I have been dumb about it. I got a completely gutted team in a non-capped league to start our, and tried making the most of it those first three seasons. My biggest regret was not holding out for a league expansion type team.

The thing that really irked me last season is the fact that Bort did it with less than a season notice. Trust me, had I of known at the beginning of season 8 that he was going to do what he did, I would have done things a lot differently.

Part of the issue I have with GLB is the lack of communication...or maybe a better way of putting it is the unorganized communication. We are 9 days away from the the end of season 10 and we are speculating what is going to happen. For the amount of money I am sure is generated for GLB, they have got to fix this.

Arr my apologies then Doug. I wrong assumed that you were one of the BBB expansion teams with the level cap. I did not realise that you took over a gutted team.

100% agree with you on the communication side of things, but then I have paid more for other games (Everquest back in the day) and not had any better communication than we get here

No problem on that. I know Bort is trying to make it better. It just sucks for those in the middle of the transition. However, that said, I really have enjoyed this season. I think in the end better competition is good. In some ways if we get all mixed up again it will suck too. I think there are some good rivalries starting to develop.

I don't think he knew in season 8 that he'll do the restrcucture and everybody wants to have a power back or other exploits as early as possible and not wait for one season, because bort had to inform everybody a season before.

I don't mind fixing powerbacks, and those things. But the whole re-structure stuff needs to be laid out well in advance. If he is going to do another round before season 10, it should be out now so we as owners know what to expect. I would like to resign some players, but I'm afraid that if I do I could be pigeon holed into a new league that is a disadvantage to me. I want to make smart decisions, but I can't do that if I am blind about what is coming.

I got to agree with you on this point Doug. It really seemed to take a looong time before the league forum got up and running with active owners and I too have enjoyed the banter and competition which has started to develop in this league. It would be a pity if another re-shuffle were to occur, bringing in too many new teams.

However, I guess for the teams at the bottom of the 2 conferences with fairly poor records, they may disagree.

But as fair competition is good for GLB so to is I feel, fair involvement and banter from team owners.

I think that for our league he could move on the top two teams in our division and the bottom two, like was done before, and our league would be great. I think the whole restructure thing he did last season might be something he does every 5 seasons or so.
