Week 14 Rankings for USA #7 (Western Conference)

I could use some help doing these, so if any of the owners/GM's or even people on the team could PM me what you thought went right and wrong in your games (like what I've done here), it would save me a bunch of time. Thanks

Disclaimer: I am the owner of the New Brunswick n00bs and this is only my opinion based upon how the teams looked when I saw them

1. Waco Davidians
2. Bel Air Beardogs
3. Oakland Wizards
4. Great Plains Reapers
5. Las Vegas Stunners
6. Spicewood Longhorns
7. Dallas Red Raiders
8. New Brunswick n00bs
9. Scottsdale Sun Demons
10. Hartford Hellhounds
11. Grand Haven Mist
12. Portland Hitmen
13. Miami Cyclones
14. RGB Berzerk
15. Ambridge Brigade
16. Chicago Clams

1. Waco Davidians - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1220
What went right: Run Defense – For the most part the Davidians’ defense stuffed New Brunswick’s running game when they needed to. They didn’t allow any of the n00bs’ backs to gain extra yards from broken/missed tackles. If they had allowed that, the outcome of this game could have been flipped.
What went wrong: Red Zone Offense – The Waco offense just was unable to punch the ball into the endzone. With 5 trips to the red zone, they only came away with 1 TD and 3 FGs. This was almost their undoing, but fortunately, their kicker hit all the FGs that he needed to
Recent Game: W 19-16 vs New Brunswick
Record: 13-1
Previous Rank: 1
Next Game: at Chicago Clams

2. Bel Air Beardogs - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1224
What went right: Pass Defense – The Bel Air defense harassed the Miami QB and forced him into 2 picks. With 12 passes deflected, 3 hurries and a sack, the Miami pass offense became a disaster waiting to happen.
What went wrong: Pass Protection – While the Bel Air QB had a pretty spectacular showing, he was under a good amount of pressure the whole game. Allowing 1 hurry and 2 sacks, the Bel Air O-line needs to help protect the QB if they want to avoid and morale-damaging events to happen.
Recent Game: W 23-0 vs Miami
Record: 12-2
Previous Rank: 2
Next Game: at Las Vegas Stunners

3. Great Plains Reapers - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1212
What went right: O-line – The offensive line did a great job opening holes for the running game as well as preventing the QB from getting pressured. Even though they didn’t rack up the pancakes, they still won the battle against Spicewood’s front line.
What went wrong: Pass Offense – The Reapers had an immense amount of trouble moving the ball through the air. Even with great protection, the Reapers’ QB had a hard time distributing the ball to the right places. This was not helped by the 3 dropped passes, but even with those factored in, it was statistically not a great passing day.
Recent Game: W 16-13 at Spicewood
Record: 11-3
Previous Rank: 4
Next Game: vs Dallas Red Raiders

4. Oakland Wizards - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1215
What went right: Run Offense – The Wizards’ backs did a great job running the ball against the Sun Demons’ defense. While they didn’t break a lot of tackles, the backs were able to still gain up chunks of yards thanks to good blocking by the O-line.
What went wrong: Special Teams Defense – The turning point of this game was the 89 yd kickoff return by the Sun Demons’ kick returner. Even if you take away that return, the kick returner still gained chunks of yards and gave the Sun Demons great field position. Oakland cannot afford to allow teams to get such great field position if they hope to advance in the playoffs.
Hellen Keller Watch: She continues to improve and in this game had a better stat-line than the starter. If she continues this improvement, she’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
Recent Game: L 23-24 at Scottsdale Sun Demons
Record: 10-4
Previous Rank: 3
Next Game: vs RGB Berzerk

5. Las Vegas Stunners - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1219
What went right:Everything – The Stunners’ offense pretty much destroyed the Ambridge defense and the defense pretty much shut down the Ambridge offense. On top of that there was a punter making a FG and 2 punt returns for a TD.
What went wrong: Nothing – See above
Recent Game: W 93-0 at Ambridge
Record: 10-4
Previous Rank: 5
Next Game: vs Bel Air Beardogs

6. Spicewood Longhorns - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1214
Contributor: im4ut999
What went right:Pass Offense? – While there were 2 INTs, the Longhorns were able to get into scoring position 6 times due largely in part to their passing game. They were able to get chunks of yardage through the air and keep the Great Plains secondary guessing.
What went wrong: Kicker – Even with all the mistakes, the Longhorns were still able to win this game if the kicker hadn’t choked. Going 2/5 is pretty bad in anyone’s book, but when you only lose by 3 pts, it’s even worse.
Recent Game: L 13-16 vs Great Plains
Record: 9-5
Previous Rank: 6
Next Game: at Hartford Hellhounds

7. Dallas Red Raiders - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1217
What went right: Run Defense – The Red Raiders’ defense stuffed up the Mist’s running game and prevented them from gaining yards methodically and with consistency. By having 7 TFLs and no broken/missed tackles, nothing came easy for the Mist’s backs.
What went wrong: Pass Defense – While they did get 2 INTs and kept the completion percentage relatively low, the Red Raiders’ secondary got burned bad twice. Giving up 68.5 yd and 76.5 yd TD passes, the secondary had better play more prevent defense or else they could get bombed out of the playoffs
Recent Game: W 31-14 vs Grand Haven
Record: 9-4-1
Previous Rank: 7
Next Game: at Great Plains Reapers

8. New Brunswick n00bs - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1210
What went right: Red Zone Defense – When the defense needed to make stops, it made stops allowing the n00bs to be in the game the whole way through. Even though the defense allowed a pretty high completion percentage by the Waco QB, the n00bs’ defense was still able to stymie any major plays from occurring.
What went wrong: Turnovers – While one of the INTs got nullified by the end of the half, the other INT kicked off a drive that allowed the Davidians to score a valuable FG. If the QB hadn’t thrown the 2 INTs, the passing game would have had their best game to date. Unfortunately, those INTs marred the stat lines.
Recent Game: L 16-19 at Waco
Record: 8-6
Previous Rank: 8
Next Game: vs Ambridge Brigade

9. Scottsdale Sun Demons - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1225
What went right: Special Teams – Outside of the kick return for a TD, the kicker on the Sun Demons was clutch. Even though the kicks weren’t difficult, every single point was needed and he didn’t choke.
What went wrong: Receivers – The receivers dropped 5 passes which is a lot, considering that only around 20 catchable balls were thrown to them. If the Sun Demons hope to keep their playoff dreams alive, they’ll need to cut down on small mistakes like that to maximize their chances of winning.
Recent Game: W 24-23 vs Oakland
Record: 6-7-1
Previous Rank: 9
Next Game: at Miami Cyclones

10. Hartford Hellhounds - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1216
What went right: O-line – The Hellhounds were able to pound the ball with tremendous success because the O-line opened up some big holes. The O-line also prevented the QBs from feeling any heat from the Berzerk’s defense. If the O-line continues this trend, Hartford might be able to turn their season around.
What went wrong: Receivers – With only 20 catchable balls thrown to them, the receivers still managed to drop 4 balls. At this stage of the season, every catch is important to sustain drives and help the team’s offense down the field. If they hope to upset some of the teams above them, the Hellhounds will need to play mistake-free football.
Recent Game: W 24-0 at RGB
Record: 7-7
Previous Rank: 10
Next Game: vs Spicewood Longhorns

11. Grand Haven Mist - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1222
What went right:Long passes – Grand Haven took a risk by throwing so many long passes and it sort of paid off. While they got bit for 2 INTs, they were also able to strike fast with the 2 long TD passes. It was a valiant effort that fell short of the ultimate goal.
What went wrong: Run Offense – The running game never got off the ground, which prevented the Mists from sustaining longer drives. This also put a lot more pressure on the passing game and the defense to step up in order to win this game. If Grand Haven hopes to continue moving up in this conference, they’ll need their running game to kick into gear.
Recent Game: L 14-31 at Dallas
Record: 4-10
Previous Rank: 11
Next Game: vs Portland Hitmen

12. Miami Cyclones - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1955
What went right:D-line – The defensive line did a pretty good job going after the QB and wrapping up the tackles that they could get to. If they had penetrated the line even more, the Cyclones could have slowed down the Bel Air offense even more.
What went wrong: Offense – The Cyclones really couldn’t get anything done offensively. Not only were there 3 turnovers, but they could never string any solid plays together to threaten to score. Their runs were inconsistent and mostly for very short yardage, while the passing game was pretty bad. If the Cyclones hope to pull off some upsets, they’ll need their offense to improve.
Recent Game: L 0-23 at Bel Air
Record: 4-10
Previous Rank: 13
Next Game: vs Scottsdale Sun Demons

13. Portland Hitmen - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1211
What went right: O-line – The offensive line really helped the Portland offense march consistently down the field. The QBs didn’t feel any pressure the whole game and were able to throw for some solid yardage and the running game was able to always gain positive yardage without any TFLs. With the offense clicking like this due to the offensive line play, the Chicago defense was unable to stop the methodical marches with any consistency.
What went wrong: Kick return – While there were only 2 kick returns, the kick returner only averaged a paltry 24.3 yard average. With these short returns, the offense needed to put together longer drives in order to score. Thankfully, they were up to the task and the Hitmen weren’t hindered with a relatively sub-par special teams performance.
Recent Game: W 21-3 vs Chicago
Record: 4-10
Previous Rank: 12
Next Game: at Grand Haven Mists

14. RGB Berzerk - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1223
What went right:Kick/Punt Return – The RGB returners did an admirable job getting the Berzerks into decent field position. While they never broke any major runs, their solid play was probably this team’s biggest offensive weapon.
What went wrong: O-line – The RGB O-line got dominated in this game and allowed the Hartford front seven to get into the backfield too many times. While they Hartford defense didn’t register a sack, they pressured the QBs 5 times and tackled the backs in the backfield 6 times. While RGB has one of the top backs in the conference, without a solid O-line blocking for him, it’s pretty hard to gain yards.
Recent Game: L 0-24 vs Hartford
Record: 2-12
Previous Rank: 14
Next Game: at Oakland Wizards

15. Ambridge Brigade - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1221
What went right: Nothing – In this game nothing went right. Offensively, the QB was hurried 14 times and sacked 3 times (as well as had 4 INTs), and the backs were TFLed 6 times. Defensively, they just couldn’t stop anything that the Stunners threw at them.
What went wrong: O-line – The offense’s woes can be directly attributed to the lack of protection and holes that were created. The O-line got completely dominated the whole game.
Recent Game: L 0-93 Las Vegas
Record: 1-13
Previous Rank: 15
Next Game: at New Brunswick n00bs

16. Chicago Clams - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1218
What went right: Special Teams – Ranging from kicking to punting to the returns, the Clams’ special teams did all they could to help the offense and defense succeed. These extra yards helped to keep the score pretty close for the majority of the game.
What went wrong: Turnovers – While they only had 2 INTs, one of the INTs was pretty brutal and came when they were in the red zone. If they had scored on that drive, the game would have been much closer earlier on. Chicago can’t afford to make major mistakes if they hope to beat teams that outmatch them.
Recent Game: L 3-21 at Portland
Record: 1-13
Previous Rank: 16
Next Game: vs Waco Davidians

Offensive Player of the Week:
HB Duke Nuke’em Las Vegas – 17 rushes, 208 yds (12.3 yd/carry), 18 broken tackles, 0 TFL, 5 TDs

Defensive Player of the Week:
DE Nick Schulz Great Plains – 4 Tackles, 1 Sack (for 6.5 yds), 1 TFL, 2 PDs, 2 INTs (for 7 yds)

Special Teams Player of the Week:
FS Speedy Returns Las Vegas – 1 Kick Return for 33.5 yds, 4 Punt Returns for 173.5 yds (43.4 yd average) with 2 PR for TDs

Game of the Week:

#5 Las Vegas vs #2 Bel Air

Las Vegas needs this game to help solidify a home play-off game. Meanwhile, Bel Air is putting its 8 game winning streak on the line and hopes to continue winning in hopes that Waco falters so that they can be first in the conference.
Prediction: Once again…the Ambridge curse will strike. The Bel Air defense will stifle the Las Vegas offense and continue on their winning streak.
Predicted score: 24-7 Bel Air

#10 Hartford vs #6 Spicewood

Hartford needs to win this game in order to stay in the playoff picture. Because of their loss to the n00bs, they need to win their last 2 games and hope the n00bs lose their last 2 games in order to get into the playoffs. After storming the top of the standings, Spicewood has fallen back to earth and needs to exert itself to show the rest of the conference that they’re a force to be reckoned with.
Prediction: After their horrible performance this past week, the Longhorns will come back with a vengeance and finish off Hartford’s heartbreaking descent out of the playoff picture.
Predicted Score: 31-14 Spicewood

#12 Miami vs #9 Scottsdale

This game is crucial for Scottsdale to win. If they get upset here, their playoff hopes will be dashed.
Prediction: After their win against Oakland, Scottsdale showed that it belongs in the playoffs. In this game, they’ll continue to do that and hope that New Brunswick stumbles.
Predicted Score: 17-6 Scottsdale

#11 Grand Haven vs #13 Portland

While this game has no playoff ramifications, it’s a preview into which team will be the biggest playoff contender next season. Both these teams have proven that they can compete with the top teams and came close to pulling off some big upsets.
Prediction: Both these teams have a lot to prove and will be playing their butts off, but in the end I think that Portland’s aerial attack might be too much for Grand Haven to handle.
Predicted Score: 27-20 Portland

And he stayed away from the Great Plains vs Dallas game. We can now play without that ominous cloud over The Necropolis.

Great job once again Scarlet. Dont be a stranger.

Haha, I originally had it on there, but while it's a good play-off preview game, the ramifications of that game aren't that major.

Still think we should revoke the mod tag.

You know there's nothing wrong with resting your starters to ensure they are fresh for the playoffs. After all, the only thing that matters is that trophy.

Cuz I suspended them for a few days from posting on the forums due to posting inappropriate things and harassing other players. There are some guys on here who think they can do anything because they paid a few bucks to play the game.

Hmm. Not only are we going to have to fight the scarlet curse...but we also have confusion. Portland is #12 in the rankings, but #13 in the game of the week.

Otherwise, awesome writeup.

This is great.

I'm one of the GM's and DC for the Clams. We are doing our best to get more competitive.

Thanks for the post!

Duke with 2 offensive player of the week awards for 2 of the past 3 weeks. Granted it was against 2 of the worst teams but still impressive.

Yeah Ubie.
Kinda weird that we got jumped by a team that lost 23-0, when we won our game.

Oh well.
