This week I changed the formula slightly for our Conference. With all the CPU, extraordinarily weak teams here, teams scoring amounts against them are great. Part of the formula is offensive and defensive strength (it's a combination of several factors). However, because of so many cupcake teams, the formula is a little out of whack and I can't make enough adjustments in the strength factor for offense and defense and keep it reasonable. So, I've changed the weighting, so defense is more highly rated than offense, since you can only keep the cupcakes to 0 defensively, meaning there is very little variation, while the offense can score a lot of different points, creating a large difference in the rankings.

That's really the difference between Komodo and Port Moresby at #1 and #2. Defense strength, roster strength, wins, and coaching are all nearly the same. The one difference is offensive strength... and the big difference is really that Komodo scored a ton more against the weaker teams than PMS.

As I've said before, this isn't an exact science. And having so many cupcakes makes it even harder to make any power rankings consistent.
