Game of the Week 1: #6 Shadow Chasers vs. #10 The Dream
Game of the Week 2: #2 LOL vs. Cripplers
Game of the Week 3: #5 Warthogs vs. Rhinos

9 Teams voted this week. Thanks!! This Poll brought to you by the makers of Imodium and Pepto Bismol, you guys are the best

DD: (6-0)
Parab00n and crew continue to hold the top spot by the slightest of margins, getting five out of nine 1st place votes. But whether it's by 2 points or by 200 points....first place is first place, and Djibouti has done nothing but prove that they deserve their top position in the poll. They shut out TLGoT and defeated a very strong Congo team by 15 points in their last two games. Unless they get surprised, all signs point to them remaining undefeated for their huge matchup with the #2 team on the poll in 4 weeks.....

LOL: (6-0)
Hokieman and his Legion of Doom impressed 4 voters enough to sway their top picks from DD, but it wasn't enough to overtake them and LOL remains in 2nd place. Like DD, they also dismantled a stumbling Gunfighters team last game but had a scare against Ghana two weeks before. If not for 2 punt returns for TDs by Train Wreck that game, LOL could very easily be looking at 5 - 1. They also face a tougher road before meeting DD in week 10. They must face an angry Cripplers squad this week and the #7 ranked Pirates team in week 9. The Legos cannot afford to look ahead if they hope to also be undefeated come week 10. But if you think Hokie will let any of his players look ahead of any game, you are sadly mistaken.

DeS: (6-0)
The top team in Lion are the only other undefeated squad in APL. Other than a close victory over the #9 ranked Sea Wolves, Shalubis and his Warrior Kings have made easy work of every one they have faced. This includes a very convincing drubbing of the previously ranked Spider Monkeez. With the Rhinos discovering how hard it is to repeat in the Pros, I think it's safe to say the road to the Lion Championship goes through Dar es Salaam.

SLS: (5-1)
Looks who's back in the Top 5! After starting the year ranked fifth in the preseason poll, SuperHawks and his Stallions of Sierra Leone dropped one right out of the gate to #5 Nairobi. At the time the voters were not sure how to take this loss to a team that was 7 - 9 in APL last season. As a result SLS was moved down the polls maybe a bit too prematurely. Now people know that The Warthogs are a vastly improved team and SLS's 7 point loss to them wasn't as bad as it seemed. Since then the Stallions have run off 5 in a row in impressive fashion, beating the #7 Pirates in what is quite possibly the game of the year so far. They also beat The Buffalos by double digits.... the only team to do so not named DD. This last win rocketed The Stallions back up the polls to 4th place, the biggest gain by any team this week. The ball is now in their court, if they defeat UN, TLGoT, and Congo the next 3 games they can show everyone that they never left the Elephant elite, it was the voters who had to play catch up.

NW: (5-1)
As Carl Spackler would say...."Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac... It's in the hole!" Madmustaff and his Warthogs have taken the APL by storm in their 2nd season here. They were promoted last season from AAA and did what 95% of the newly promoted teams do...they shit the bed. But now that they have their rookie season under their belts they improved in the offseason and started kicking ass and taking names. Congo, Ghana, SLS, The Dream, these aren't pushovers that the Warthogs have beaten since the preseason began this year. In fact they represent some of APLs best. Their only regular season loss has come at the hands of The Devils, a team that knows them well from AAA. Tomorrow though they face the defending champs The Rhinos. Windhoek may be struggling a bit this season, but after destroying The Dream last week they want to show that they've thrown off the hangover and are ready to fight. The Warthogs have momentum on their side but this may be their toughest challenge yet this year. Both teams need this game badly, and that my friends is why it's a "Game of the Week."

editors note:If you didn't get the movie reference you should be ashamed of yourself, your punishment is to rent CaddyShack and commit it to memory. You are banned from reading my future polls until you do so.

SSC: (5-1)
This team has the potential to be an even greater Cinderella story than Nairobi. Telencephalon and the ShadowChasers also came up from AAA last season, but they didn't just shit the bed in their APL debut, they got it on the lamp and the dresser too, going 4 - 12 last season. They had the unfortunate draw to face #1 DD in their opening game this season, but even though they lost they scored far and above any other team DD faced this year. In the 5 teams DD has played since meeting SSC, Djibouti has given up a total of 55 points combined. SSC put up 48 against them alone. That in itself is impressive, especially when you take into account the quality of teams DD has faced since then. Sahara has beaten NN and RRK since then as well as the upstart Devils....That Devils names comes up a lot doesn't it, I think they will be next year's breakout team....but I digress. The ShadowChasers are now getting into the meat of their schedule. They face The #10 Dream tomorrow followed by The #5 Warthogs, clearly this is put up or shut up time for Sahara.

SP: (5-1)
I hate to question any team on this poll, everyone who makes this Top 10 has earned the respect of their peers and that is one of the toughest things to do and should be applauded. But I can't help but wonder if the Pirates aren't here due to their record against lesser teams so far. That's not their fault. Akat has always run a tight ship and has been in the Top 10 for several seasons now. Somalia has won every game they should win and their only loss was by 1 point to a great SLS squad. But other than the Stallions, the Pirate's opponents have a combined record of 7 - 23. That includes an always good 4 - 2 Cairo team who took The Pirates to OT before losing. Maybe I'm just being cynical and Somalia will put it in my face. I hope they do prove me wrong, but when I look at the 2nd half of their schedule...oooh maaan. I can't help but to see some pain in their future.

TLGoT: (4-2)
What is going on with The Gunfighters? They got beat pretty bad in preseason by the Rhinos then lost to The Devils...there's that name again....but people didn't blink. These guys are always at the top of APL year in and year out. Losing to the defending champs in preseason is nothing big, and hell maybe they were testing stuff against the AAA promotee. They opened up the season with a nice win over a strong RRK club, then they followed that up by beating the always resilient Cripplers. Ok they are back. Then the last 2 weeks happened. They didn't just get beat by DD and LOL....they got slaughtered. They didn't even put up a fight in either match. They went down faster than an intern at the White House in both games getting outscored 101 - 7. WTF!!! Is TLGoT finished? Have they been passed by and can no longer be considered part of the APL elite?? Not so fast my Toadamaniacs. I have it on good word that a friend of my cousin's brother was sitting next to Austin Jones in a strip club when two of The Gunfighter's players came stumbling by drunk and laughing and bragging that they pulled the wool over everyone's eyes. They put some schmuck gameplan in against both DD and LOL and are just playing possum until the playoffs....winning just enough to make the show until revealing the REAL gameplan. Well hardeeharhar the jokes on you rooty poos. You ain't foolin' anyone now. My cousin's brother's friend is never wrong!!

SISW: (4-2)
Welcome back to Jdawg and The SeaWolves. After running off some very impressive preseason wins against Elephants best, Seychelles Island seemed primed and ready to take the next step toward Lion dominance starting the preseason poll at #7. They then opened the season with an ugly loss to ABD. Follow that up 2 weeks later with another loss to the top team in Lion, Dar es, and the Sea Wolves quickly found themselves on the outside looking in at the Top 10 poll. Like the Pirates I'm worried that they have yet to show that they can beat the elite in their Conference. Their 4 wins came against teams that they were supposed to beat, but if they want to make some noise in the playoffs they will have to beat teams that are rated equal or better than them. Unfortunately for SISW, those teams all come in bunches toward the end of the season. Are they up to the task? Stay tuned....

AD: (4-2)
The Dream boast the best statistical offense and 3rd best rushing defense in the league. They gotta be undefeated right? Nope. Evesong and crew have lost both games against good competition in Lion and got absolutely demolished by DD in the preseason by over 100 points. Next week they face the ShadowChasers and if I was a betting man...which I am...I would bet that the next Coaches poll will be the first I have ever written for APL that The Dream are not included. That's 4 years worth of continuous polls that they have been ranked in the Top 10. Impressive as holy hell. Time to man up and prove me wrong Dream. The wheels came off the bus way earlier than usual this year and the Lion competition is better than ever. Unless they do something fast, the dream for a title is over in Angola.

That's it Folks. See ya in 2 weeks.

Nice Write up Toad. Not to make excuses, but with the DPC it really takes at least twice as much as past to game plan, and I have not really had the time to do much scouting and game planning for Angola. Talent wise, this team is much improved compared to past seasons; And as for Lion's competition, I think it's actually weaker this season than last due to the Kings/Bug Eaters folding. Rest assured, we'll be sticking around the see the playoffs and be ready.

daton's right. Some of the newer teams are stepping up and I'm glad for it. But no Kings, no Bug Eaters, the schedule is a little easier.
