Season 9: Week 7

Shocker of the Week! The Wildfire loose a close one to Whitechapel! Second shocker of the week! The Hitmen loose big to the Thornites! Maybe the Thornites are getting their AI in better shape. If that is the case they will start moving up the rankings. In the mean time. Luxembourg remains the only undefeated team.

This weeks rankings:

1. (2) Luxembourg Lightning Bolts
2. (3) Red River Ruminants
3. (4) Whitechapel Rippers
4. (1) October Wildfire
5. (5) London Olympians
6. (6) Glasgow Cats
7. (7) Flint Hobo
8 (9) Leipzig Lions
9. (10) Reading Armed Centaurs
10. (8) Mile High Hitmen
11. (11) Barcelona Bisons
12. (14) Rome Ramblin' Thornites
13. (12) Arlington Sandlot
14. (13) Honolulu Wave Riders
15. (15) Russian Strelets
16. (16) St. George Javalinas

This weeks games:

1. (1) Luxembourg Lightning Bolts vs. (15) Russian Strelets
The Lightning Bolts are basking in the glory of their new #1 ranking. They get to enjoy it for at least another week as they take on the flagging Russian Strelets. The game will be over in the first quarter.

Luxembourg Lightning Bolts 89 : Russian Strelets 12

2. (2) Red River Ruminants vs. (10) Mile High Hitmen
The RRR just keeps rolling along, they have a perfect season after their week 1 slip up, and they will be facing the Mile High Hitmen who recently have faltered. They were looking good to make the playoffs early on, but now that is in question. They won't get any help this week, as the RRR will crush them.

Red River Ruminants 86 : Mile High Hitmen 3

3. (3) Whitechapel Rippers vs. (9) Reading Armed Centaurs
Whitechapel is riding high after their win last week. They will ride that momentum into this week's matchup against the Reading Armed Centaurs. The Centaurs are a decent team but they are not up to the Rippers level.

Whitechapel Rippers 54: Reading Armed Centaurs 7

4. (6) October Wildfire vs. (11) Barcelona Bisons
The Wildfire get a chance to regroup after last weeks loss. They play a Barcelona team that isn't yet playing up to its potential. Even if they did, they would be hard pressed to beat the Wildfire.

October Wildfire 84 : Barcelona Bisons 10

5. (5) London Olympians vs. (14) Honolulu Wave Riders
From the place its always raining and cold, to the paradise of the Pacific. Its a long journey but the Olympians will have themselves a nice vacation after they take care of the Wave Riders.

London Olympians 65 : Honolulu Wave Riders 9

6. (6) Glasgow Cats vs. (7) Flint Hobo **** Game Of the Week ****
This is the most compelling matchup of the week with the 6th and 7th ranked teams going head to head. I give a slight edge to the depth of the Glasgow team in this one.

Glasgow Cats 24 : Flint Hobo 21

7. (8) Leipzig Lions vs. (12) Rome Ramblin' Thornites
The Ramblin' Thornites made a strong statement last week against Mile High, they are going to have to dig deep if they are going to upset the Lions as well. I think Rome is improving, but I don't think they are quite there yet.

Leipzig Lions 35 : Rome Ramblin' Thornites 28

8. (13) Arlington Sandlot vs. (16) St. George Javalinas
Arlington beat Honolulu in an impressive fashion last week, they will get another chance to put up big numbers this week as they play the woeful Javalinas. It will be a blow out.

Arlington Sandlot 78 : St. George Javalinas 0

Good Luck Everyone!

Yikes, from 1 to 4! We'll have something to say about that when we face RRR and LL after a virtual tie last week! Good writeup, that Cats/Hobo game looks interesting. You think that low scoring, eh? We'll see

Thanks Cryptotich,

Octowned we will have something to say as well

The Cats and Hobos might be playing for a playoff spot. There is still time for some of these teams to turn this season around.

I think the cats will edge the hobos too. Should be a cracker in an otherwise fairly obvious week one would imagine.

Well, I think you guys are the #1 team in the league, and have since I realized you were IN this league, lol. I guess whitechappel is doomed to be "ahead" of wildfire the rest of the season, but I consider that a tossup as does their owner. Now it's up to luxembourg to see how the top 4 really looks.

I don't consider us as nothing but contenders. Whitechapel took us all the way to the 4th qtr and we only won by a TD. I don't consider that dominating, it is a W. Dunder was a hell of a game where a turnover cost us dearly. It is all in the SIMs hands. I know alpha is stronger than zeta but in the end whoever goes from zeta I hope they represent.

I do agree that the top four is zeta's strength. There is still room for four more teams to step up and go at it. Some teams I am sure are just an AI away.

Yeah, hard to tell how many teams are really planning, making complex AIs, utilizing their strengths, etc. I've got a ways to go on mine but as OC I think we're doing fine in that regards.

So far whitechappel has gone wire to wire with RRR and wildfire, and if you believe in transitivity I hope that bodes well for our week 12(?) matchup being close

One thing I was excited for after this re-organizing of the leagues was close games. I said to my teammates I'd rather lose close games then win every game 150-0. Though I'd rather win the close ones

I'm going to try hard to make the Hobo game a good one, but I fear we may be simply outmatched.

We're slowly creeping up the table

Only 55 points for wildfire, but our offense worked very smoothly so I'll take it! Time to check out the rest of the league.

Nice defense. I didn't think a game like was possible on GLB.
