The real games are almost here so time to start making some predictions. The first game is always toughest cuz many teams use the pre-season to try out new things or to distort their true game play to fake out folks the first game. So I don't even look at pres-season performance. These predictions are not run through any magic formula and may be 0-16 since there is still plenty of time for roster changes, etc.
M-Pirates vs Bandits. Both teams have adequate depth, but Bandits experience plummets after starters. Kicking decided advantage to M-Pirates. Bandits also at disadvantage in chem. M-Pirates win.
Cards vs Freebirds. Freebirds mostly CPU with a sprinkling of humans all over the board. Easy week for Cards. Cards win.
Drunks vs B-Pirates. Serious depth issue in defensive secondary and passing game for B-Pirates. Drunks fairly well rounded with adequate depth should have no trouble exploiting B-pirate weaknesses. Drunks win.
Oslo vs Spartans. Oslo passing game slightly weak and longer games could hurt them. Spartans though are pretty much one-trick running pony, with not enough depth for prolonged passing game. Their defense also unsteady in the secondary. Oslo wins.
Bastards vs Werewolves. Werewolves seem to have lots of depth, but most of the lower level guys are on special teams leaving the starting line ups a little lite with a number of out of position guys. Bastards a fairly uniform L28-29 with some ringers. If werewolves can open a huge early lead, they win, if not, bastards do. Werewolves win.
Seahawks vs Carlin. Carlin has improved by huge strides since I last did these write ups, but the team is overall on the lower side for the league. Seahawks have much the same profile, but their running game will probably be more consistent. Seahawks win.
Devils vs V-Assassins. Should be a good game. Both teams have adequate depth and are fairly matched up in levels. Scout bars say Devils should win, but V-assassins seem to have the higher levels where they will make the biggest impact. V-assassins win.
Dragons vs Jets. Both teams have some depth issues. Dragon line will get very tired and make it hard to score late. Jets, well, their back ups will just not be up to task. Dragons win.
Ghosts vs Nomads. Ghosts have the depth, but not the power, maybe in a couple seasons. Nomads very strong in the WR area, defense weaker, but by no means close to feeble. Nomads win.
Dynas vs Blitz. Dynas have adequate depth and have no glaring weaknesses. Blitz could use a bit more depth and their ability probably a little needy. Dynas win.
Fusion vs Conchords. Fusion has an easy on the eyes mascot, what else do they need? Fusion also balanced with adequate depth. When the conchords starters get tired it is all over. Fusion wins.
Hell vs Bunnies. Hell has decent depth, not too bad drop to back ups. Hell chem is, well, hell. Bunnies decent depth but some significant drop in some areas, particularly defense secondary. Hell wins.
D-Pirates vs Seagulls. Both teams good depth, fairly balanced. Seagulls Chem will make passing difficult, but looks like they have enough of a run game to overcome that. D-Pirate passing game could be key, but their recievers may not be up to task. Seagulls win.
Hippos vs Wall. Hippos vulnerable to medium and long pass, but otherwise fair. Wall has good depth and ability, should not have too much trouble with hippos. Wall wins.
U-Assassins vs Jackalopes. U-assassins defense vulnerable, particularly to passing game, kicking below par. Jacklopes have adequate balance, but their line guys will probably leave the QB open to sack late in the game. Jackalopes win.
Destroyers vs Glare. Destroyers line up is holier than the pope. Glare has enough depth to take advantage of it. Glare wins.
Game of the week (which usually turns into blowout of the week
): D-pirates vs Seagulls
Good Luck everyone!
