I'm going to be trying to post on Garuda predictions this season and thought I would start off with and overall prediction of the season.

The Team To Beat- Hong Kong Phooeys
There is no way you can say any other team is better then them. Like Karawang last season they are the consensus favorite. That does not mean they are going to win it all and the chances are they don't with many other great returning teams many of which gave them a run for there money last season.

The Contenders- In no particular order

Haiphong Bucks- Halfway through last season it looked like they were on there way to greatness. When the hard part of there schedule struck they were no match for the higher level teams however and were forced to spend another season in AA. They will be a top 5 seed this season for sure but i'm not sure if they have the firepower to win it all.

Bangalore Monsoon- This is a great example of great gameplanning and what I have to imagine is a pretty well run team competing with higher levels. When I'm not playing them I'm rooting for them to do well and they should have a great season although once again it will be tough for them to compete with the higher levels found in the league. Bangalore is a consistent team and will be a top 4 seed in the playoffs.

Davao City Pirates- Davao is a top team no questions asked. Solid builds, solid gameplanning, all around a solid team. They could easily be this season champions but there may be something missing.

Surabaya Tsunami- They are the top call up this season and the only one with a chance to win more than about 8 games. I don't really know anything about them.

Bangkok Beatdown- This is my team so I will be bias here but there is no question we have the levels, builds, and overall personnel to win the league. 2 seasons ago we went 13-3 and going into season 8 many thought we would be a team to beat but the season unraveled quickly. I was unable to gameplan from weeks 2-10 and we had no depth. This season we have brought in about 12 new players and a lot of good depth. In addition we have brought in a good defensive coordinator who should help get things going. There is no question we can compete with the Phooeys or anyone else but there is a big question about whether we will.

D League Ligers- Fresh off of a demotion the Ligers are back. they are a slow build team that should be the best in the league. That said I have to imagine there are some gameplanning issues over there holding these guys back. They could go anywhere from 10-6 to 16-0 but I have to imagine somewhere in between.

Next Season They Will Compete-
Fayetteville Razorbacks- Back again after running the table but they will need another season before they can make a title run.

Shanghai Knights- Good owner found his way back in A ball after being demoted. Good team but they don't have enough.

Sumatra Captains- Could make a playoffs appearance but just aren't quite there yet.

Aggieland Fighting Farmers- They have the levels but there is something major missing.

Shanghai Steelers- No depth here.

Shanghai Saints- No depth here either.

The Jokes-

Bayside Shakedown- Way underleveled.

Vietnam Veterans- Every player on the team is inactive.

Hanoi Hitmen- They have about 18 real players.

Well there are the writeups. I will get out some projected records shortly. We will have some good competition this season and unlike the past two seasons where one team was dominant there are many teams that could easily win it. Good luck to all.

Nice to see an original SEA A#8 team up here. Most have gone CPU.

Im from SEA A8 as well, but I'll be damned if I ever get stuck in the Garuda conference... those boys are a little "weird" if you ask me.

I am here, though this may be our last season. The game is becoming incredibly complex for planning and I just don't have the time to commit to it, to remain at the top. We'll have to see.

Im getting there myself, Im not sure if the latest poll about possible transfers to Casual leagues is promising or not.

I'm hoping the Knights can build on last season....we also split with the Tsunami last season. Good to have that rivalry here this upcoming season. SEA #8 original also here........

Very true. I run a different casual league team right now, and enjoy it much more than running this team. Much more laid back. May be interesting to consider if the time comes.

Id disagree with some of this to be honest. It wasnt how we played against the top teams last season that fucked us up but against the average teams. We lost to the top 3 teams sure but we beat every team from 4th to 8th. The other four games we lost were to teams that didnt make the playoffs. Hell in those four games combined we outyarded our opponents by 150 yards. Had we not had some shit luck with fumbles on special teams wed have won at least three of those games.

I still say that we finish second this season as we can now throw to 4 40+ WRs and our stud TE who will always be fresh on passing plays as we got a blocking backup for him. Plus our defense looks godly.

For those that want Naga predictions I may identify a group of about 6-8 teams to follow and do games of the week for Naga when there are key matchups but I will not do weekly write ups.

I'm confused as to why the Tsunamis are contenders but we aren't. Their offense has a new WR as far as I can tell (their #4), as do we (our #1) and their defense has the same upgrades as us - 1 new DT, new LBs and 1 new CB. We also picked up a new DE which I don't see on their squad. Half of our defensive starters from last season are now our backups thanks to our recruitment.

If you go off of levels, the Tsunamis always looked better than us. Once you get up to this level of competition, however, your build is much more important than your level. I know I won't recruit anyone whose build I don't like, and considering that the Tsunamis are a class organization who compete well, I'd guess relatively the same for them. I think that at worst, the Tsunamis and Knights are just as on par as they were last season, which was pretty damn on-par, considering one game was 34-33 and the other, 27-34, was won by three late long TDs, all of which were bone-headed blown coverages by our SS (he whiffs on the ball despite it not being anywhere near him, causing the WR to be uncovered).

No offense zheerwagen, but I can't take stock in a prediction that believes that the Knights and Tsunamis play at different levels. There's simply no foundation for it.
