Welcome to THE (unofficial) OFFICIAL AAA #1 Power Rankings for Week 12. This week’s power rankings have been brought to us by the asterisk *. This week the asterisk denotes teams who could put in their cheerleaders for the remaining games and they would still make the playoffs.

A quick recap of last week’s Game(s) of the Week

Game of the Week
Well, as the season starts to get closer to playoff time there are more and more games with playoff implications. For that reason I have two games of the week, one for each conference.

Alpha Conference:

Moscow Massacre (9-2) at MCXA Cybernationists (10-1)
If the Destroyers hold on then they will keep the #1 seed in Alpha Conference. The way the Destroyers are playing now, nobody wants to play them so the later in the playoffs a team plays them, the better. The winner of the #2/#3 playoff game would (presumptuously) play the Destroyers in the Zeta Conference Championship game. If the Massacre win, they will be a lot closer to securing either the #2 or #3 playoff spot. If the MCXA wins, they will have probably secured the #2 playoff spot. A big game for both teams. Vegas has the under/over at 53 points with the MCXA Cybernationist favored by 6.

Zeta Conference:

Scotch Cocks (9-2) at Tenerife Thunderbirds (8-3)
A win for the Scotch Cocks would almost guarantee a #2 or #3 seed going into the playoffs. That would postpone a possible rematch with the USA Vacationers until the Zeta Conference Championship. A win for the Thunderbirds would almost guarantee the Dragons the #2 playoff spot, giving the Thunderbirds a chance to fight it out for the #3 playoff spot. Vegas currently has the over/under at 40 with even money on both teams. It should be a good one.

Moscow Massacre (9-2) at MCXA Cybernationist (10-1)
Well, I was wrong. The combined score was 49 so 53 wasn’t incredibly far off. Picking the Cybernationists to win was wrong but it was such a good game. If you picked the Massacre and under…you got that one right.

Scotch Cocks (9-2) at Tenerife Thunderbirds (8-3)
Who saw such a low scoring affair? With a combined score of 22, my over/under was pretty far off. The win for the Thunderbirds has almost secured the Dragons getting the #2 seed in Zeta Conference. If you picked the Thunderbirds and under…you got this one right too!

This week’s prize pack contains a Hypercolor shirt and a slap bracklet. You earned it!

THE TOP TEN

1. USA Vacationers* (12-0), 67.55
The undefeated Vacationers became the first Zeta Conference team to be guaranteed a playoff spot with their 20-12 win over the Carolina LeatherWrecks. The first snap of the game set the tone as it resulted in a 57-yard TD strike for the Vacationers. Even with the quick strike, everything wasn’t all roses and rainbows for the Vacationers. Ball control seems to be a problem for the Vacationers in their last few games and this one was no different with 4 interceptions and a lost fumble. Next week the Vacationers look to extend their winning streak and match the 2003-2004 New England Patriots with the NFL record 21 consecutive wins. Next game: Home vs Vaadwaur Phoenix (7-5)

2. Dubrovnik Destroyers* (11-1), 66.02
The Destroyers are the first team from Alpha Conference to be guaranteed a playoff spot this week with their convincing win over the Mordland Metal. The Destroyer defense posted its fourth straight shutout and showed why they are considered the best defense in the league. The Destroyer defense has only allowed 33 points this season, an average of 2.75 points per game. Next game: Home vs João Pessoa Boobs (4-8)

3. MCXA Cybernationists* (10-2), 54.63
The Cybernationist lost to the Moscow Massacre 22-27 this week in a great game. Anyone who did not watch the game live really missed out. ESPN keeps replaying the last play of the game. Down by 5 with 0:12 left on the clock, the Cybernationists are on the 7.5-yard line and need the TD to win. Massacre LB Valencia made a great play by cutting Cybernationists HB Falkner’s ability to cut to the outside away. Forcing him up the middle ended the game with a 1-yard tackle for a loss. This was a tough loss for the Cybernationists to a very evenly matched team. The Cybernationsts are now in the driver seat to the #3 playoff seed. Next game: Away at Collierville Hammers (2-10)

4. Moscow Massacre* (10-2), 47.23
Not much more to say here except that they played a great game against the Cybernationists and deserved the win. The two teams are so evenly matched that I’m honestly not sure who would win more if they played 10 games against each other. The Massacre are now in charge of their own destiny now. They have secured the #2 seed but could lose it if they stumble in the “Battle for Moscow”. Even if they do stumble, they should still have the #3 seed meaning a probable rematch with the Cybernationists in the second round of the playoffs. Next game: Home vs biguglia black heads (3-9)

5. Dogdandy Dragons (10-2), 44.28
As expected, the Dragons destroyed the Black Russian Terriers. Their next game against the Duval Triads should allow the Dragons to bolster their stats even more and possibly move even higher in the rankings. The Dragons should not be too worried about the rest of their schedule and should end up in the playoffs as the Zeta Conference #2 seed. Next game: Away at Balkan Anarchy (2-9)

6. Shiner Bocks (9-3), 43.2
The Shiner Bocks enjoyed another week of padding their stats with their 47-3 win over the Balkan Anarchy. Their last 4 games have been against sub-.500 teams and the Bocks have beaten those teams pretty well. The Bocks have yet to play the Destroyers and that game might knock the Bocks off of their current win steak. Their game against the Mordland Metal in a few weeks will definitely have playoff implications. Next game: Away at Tallin Dream (6-6)

7. Berlin Hounds from Hell (9-3), 41.95
The Hounds from Hell did what was expected of them this week and beat the Odessa Stunners 32-14. The Hounds from Hell only get one more game before they have to start their real playoff run. Sitting pretty as the current Zeta Conference #4 seed, they have to play both the Scotch Cocks and Helsinki Hell Raisers to close out conference play. Those games will go a long way to decide the playoff picture. Next game: Home vs KGB All-Stars (6-6)

8. Tenerife Thunderbirds (9-3), 41.6
The Thunderbirds had a great win this week against the Scotch Cocks. In their 19-3 win, the Thunderbirds held the Cocks to 0 rushing yards. Well, it wasn’t really the Thunderbird D that held the Cocks to 0 rushing yards but rather the Cocks’ offense. Surprisingly the Cocks did not run the ball once. In all three of the Thunderbirds’ losses they allowed over 100 yards rushing and in the previous 8 wins, they allowed less than 100 yards rushing. The Thunderbirds have another tough game next week before they finish out conference play against the bottom two. Next game: Home vs Helsinki Hell Raisers (8-4)

9. Helsinki Hell Raisers (8-4), 40.02
The Hell Raisers were able to pull out a win against the New World Order, despite being out gained in total yardage. The Hell Raisers took good care of the ball and were able to come away with four interceptions. The Hell Raisers have a tough road to the playoffs ahead of them with games left against the Thunderbirds and Hounds from Hell. Next game: Away at Tenerife Thunderbirds (9-3)

10. Moscow Communists (9-3), 39.2
The Communists were able to avenge their loss to the Destroyers by beating up on the biguglia black heads in a 62-0 win. The Communists are undoubtedly looking forward to the “Battle for Moscow” but they still have to play a good Mordland Metal team first. If they overlook the Metal it’s very possible that they could be in a tough position come playoff time. Next game: Home vs Mordland Metal (8-4)

CONTENDING FOR A TOP SPOT
11. Fox News (8-4), 38.12
12. Scotch Cocks (9-3), 35.35
13. Carolina LeatherWrecks (8-4), 34.07
14. Vaadwaur Phoenix (7-5), 31.83
15. KGB All-Stars (6-6), 29.25
16. Mordland Metal (8-4), 29.22

NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
17. Desert Vultures (6-6), 25.1
18. Warsaw Eagles (6-6), 21.9
19. Tallinn Dream (6-6), 21.15
20. Mobile Red Elephant Club (5-7), 16.27
21. New World Order (4-8), 9.28
22. João Pessoa Boobs (4-8), 9.23

DIVINE INTERVENTION
23. Donetsk Lizards (3-9), 5.25
24. Odessa Stunners (3-9), 3.35
25. Collierville Hammers (2-10), 2.57
26. Chattanooga Lookouts formerly the Bucharest Spetsnaz (2-10), -7.08
27. Moscow Warriors (2-10), -10.98
29. Balkan Anarchy (2-10), -12.48

FACING RELEGATION
28. Biguglia black heads (3-9), -12.7
30. Duval Triads (0-12), -24.05
31. Black Russian Terriers (1-11), -29.12
32. Emmaus Fighting Green Horents (0-12), -39.25

Game of the Week
Well, as the season starts to get closer to playoff time there are more and more games with playoff implications. For that reason I have two games of the week, one for each conference.

Alpha Conference:
Shiner Bocks (9-3) vs Tallinn Dream (6-6)
Can the Shiner Bocks countinue their dominant streak? Can the Tallin Dream even make the playoffs (kind of necessary for that guaranteed Championship)? This game should answers those questions. Vegas has the over/under at 32 with the Shiner Bocks favored by 11.

Zeta Conference:
Tenerife Thunderbirds (9-3) vs Helsinki Hell Raisers (8-4)
Can the Thunderbirds hold on to their #3 playoff spot? Can the Hell Raisers rise up in the playoff standings? Should be a great game and that’s why Vegas has the over/under at 41 with even money on both teams.

Fun Fact!
In human genetics, the asterisk is used to denote that someone is a member of a haplogroup (either mtDNA or Y-DNA) and not any of its subclades!

Hope everyone enjoys!

Nice, although im under the assumption that my team has locked up a playoff spot due to head to head records with the 9th placed team in the conference.

Edit: Indeed, my team has locked up a playoff spot. We are 10-2, with #9 Vultures 6-6. The worst my team can become is 10-6 with the Vultures best being 10-6. We beat them on head to head so they can't overtake us. Therefore we have locked up a play off spot. Where's my asterisk??

It means Thunderbirds to win, and the combined score to be less than what was stated.

Did they implement head-to-head? I knew they were working on it but since it was most points scored last season, I was just working off of that basis. That means that both the Cybernationists and Massacre are playoff locks. Editing now...

They did implement. I've read many posts confirming it.
