GG Bucks, glad we could avenge our loss. Hopefully Karawang doesn't do the same this week!
Surprises:
Not really surprised because I had these two games pegged at 50/50, but Kathmandu losing to a first year AA team has to be one of the more disappointing stories in the play-offs. It looked like they had put that early season loss to the KF Pandas behind them, but Phenom Phenh looks to have their number. Sapporo and Hokies are identical teams that peaked at the wrong times. Both were fairly inconsistent early, but then Sapporo had a great mid season run while the Hokies had a great late season run. Don't discount the power of a hot streak, worked for the Hokies.
Predictions:
50/50
Hellfighters over Karawang- Perhaps this isn't the most objective pick since I have some bias towards my team. Karawang has had some close calls in conference so they can be beat, actually the Hellfighters were the only team to get them this season. Karawang is 15-1 and has beaten the top 2 teams in conference along with 13 other teams so they are obviously the favorites. I have to give the edge to the Hellfighters who have ironed out some kinks.
Phooeys over Padang- This game is a crap shoot, Padang won 23-20 during the regular season. Padang can game plan with the best of them, the Phooeys just find a way to win. Phooeys took home an A Championship two seasons ago, but were terrible last season, missing the play-offs while other newly promoted teams made it over them. They have turned things around. Padang has been a perennial challenger for top honors, could this be their year? I'm giving the win to the Phooey's, I just can't figure out how they have been rolling this season, but they are.
Kamikaze over Hokies- again, crap shoot. Hokies beat the Kamikaze in the regular season AND have been the hottest team going into the play-offs in Naga. Kamikaze has been on cruise control the final few weeks. I shouldn't bet against the hot team, but I am going to. Hopefully the Kamikaze did not pack it in after taking the #1 seed and regain their magic to set up a Kamikaze/Vanuatu rematch!
100/0
Vanuatu over PP Kung Fu Pandas- Pandas has a nice first season in AA culminating with a playoff win. Vanuatu shut out the Pandas in the regular season. Look for the Pandas to get some points this game, but look for Vanuatu to get tons more.
Best of luck to all the teams!
