this season has been a joke.
powerbacks are a joke - throw away the gameplan and get the guy to carry. it's been chronic over the past 2 seasons where 1 guy can train his way through to the EZ again and again and again. safety? what safety?
LBs are a joke - thin red line. how much strength and tackle is enough? answer? there's never enough so making them useless when covering a HB route
FBs are a joke - they don't hit the hole at appropriate times
elusive backs are a joke - turn them into dual threats for any decent product as they are pretty much rubbish without a powerback to mix up the offense
VAs are a joke - some are completely useless whilst others (like Bruiser when added to Power Thru) are overpowered
OL blocking is a joke - my OL which excelled in season 6 looks distinctly average this season. heck i remember season 6 where we shut out the best DE ever to come out of A5 to handsomely beat the Killer Whales. who needed the nerf to DEs? we certainly didn't as we could handle them.
i may be biased but season 6 was fun and the balance of power was neither with the offense or defense. good gameplanning got you far and focussing on a weakspot or nullifying a strength was rewarding. not this season nor last.
recent events that make me question why i poured so much cash into this declining beta:
- HB Screens to a powerback killed us and our gameplanning was out the window in season 7
- punt returns at another team i GM finished off any chance of pulling off a surprise win.
- Powerbacks are the first point of focus for all DCos i know. stop them to 3-4 yards and you have a chance of winning. if you don't stop them then it's a case that you pray that your own powerback is more effective.
i gave up OCing a couple of teams as i became disinterested. i didn't like the idea of requiring a powerback to become competitive as it didn't suit my style of coaching. now it's a preprequisite. heck i had to bring in one for QPR just to keep up with the Jonses.
season 8 = fail (even if we win the championship - which is highly unlikely

)
