We’re at the halfpoint way of the season, and with Bakersfield’s triumph over Mighty, it sets up a crazy next 3 weeks at the top with Mentone and CCIA facing off, then each facing Bakersfield in consecutive weeks. Battle Royale.

Although there are a few up and down teams still, the middle of the West and playoff contenders are becoming more clear, just not necessarily in the order they will be after week 16.

I just don’t know what to do about the East. Dirty beat St. Paul. St. Paul beat Texas, but lost to Sleepy Hollow. Texas lost to St. Paul and Dirty. Enghave beat Sleepy Hollow but lost to NJ Mobsters. Phoenix beat Sleepy Hollow. So what carries more weight, the win over a “higher” ranked opponent or a loss to a “lower” ranked opponent?

This weeks shuffling is more trying to get it right than W’s and L’s this particular week.

Tier 1 in the East should clearly include the Bears in addition to Fury...at least until Saturday. At that point the loser should fall to Tier 2.

Definitely a tough matchup for BOTH teams!

We'll see, we'll see. All Boston has done is beat everybody put in front of them (except Virginia in that hard to plan for week 1.) And count me impressed after they crushed my team in week 8. Should be a great game. As should Mentone Beach and CCIA in the West. Can we call it Shakedown Saturday? (I know ESPN would call it something lame or gay like that.)

Note: The Western teams yardage rankings are inflated due to both Mentone Beach and Corpus Christi going 255+ on two weaker squads.

Mentone Beach brings the 1st ranked offense (5th pass, 1st rush) and 1st ranked defense (1st pass, 1st rush), as well as the 1st ranked KR squad. Corpus Christi has the 2nd ranked offense (1st pass, 3rd rush) and 5th ranked defense (7th pass, 3rd rush) and the 2nd ranked KR squad.

Tennessee brings the 12th ranked offense (8th pass, 7th rush), 2nd ranked defense (3rd pass, 2nd rush) along with the 3rd KR squad and 3rd best FG kicker. Boston counters with the 16th ranked offense (24th pass, 3rd rush), 3rd ranked defense (8th pass, 6th rush) and 5th KR squad.

Sorry Virginia/Beantown and Sleepy Hollow/Texas, while your games will probably be great, there are only two GOTW's this week.

WEST
GOTYN: #1 Mentone Beach and #2 Corpus Christi

Also in the West in top 8 action, we have:
#3 Bakersfield and Steel City
#4 Mighty and Big Bear
#5 Long Beach and Idaho
#6 Virginia and #8 Beantown
#7 Dallas and Pittsburgh

Also:
Saginaw and Eugene
LA Cobras and Washington

EAST
GOTYN: #1 Tennessee and #2 Boston

Also in ranked action:
#3 Dirty and Atlantic City
#4 Enghave and Iowa
#5 Phoenix and Houston
#6 Sleepy Hollow and #8 Texas
#7 St. Paul and Philadelphia

And:
NJ Mobsters and Louisiana State
NJ Hitmen and LA Bicycle Clowns

We played 3 of the teams in "our tier" and won by a combined 111 pts. Should we really be in this tier? I would put us and Tennessee in tier 1, obviously with Tennessee #1...for now.

I'll second that statement and agree with Air. Even should you lose to us (its going to be narrow IF that happens) you'd still be a tier #1 team (and it will be painfully obvious should you defeat us).

Man, i'm pumped. Can't wait to see if there's a power shift in either the East or West, or both?

Classic 2 TD comebacks by Mentone Beach AND Tennessee, wow.

GG Mobsters. Just glad to be out of that 4 game losing streak.
