ALPHA

Stockholm is the only undefeated team now, but they need to wait for the #1 spot on the rankings. Red Lights top Magic Dragons to get back in the cream of Alpha talk, and Oslo is knocked off, and might fall even further soon.

1. Tulsa Doom (Previous: 3)
-What was said about them?: Big jumper this week, as they clearly have fixed whatever problems, if any, were visible at the beginning of the season. That loss to Madrid has me scratching my head more on where I have them ranked than where I have Tulsa ranked, but Tulsa has showed me in two huge games in a row that it has the mettle to contend for the championship.
-What has changed?: By the strength of their early season wins, and by their easy past three games, Tulsa becomes the latest team to climb atop the board. Their situation here is precarious, as a dangerous Magic Dragons team awaits, but if they can win that game they get to keep a claim on this spot, unless Stockholm runs the table up until their week 13 matchup.
-Prediction: Conference championship contender.

2. Stockholm Dynamites (Previous: 5)
-What was said about them?: I'm standing by my previous week's prediction. I think they are a strong team, but their lack of a tough schedule and tight win against the Magic Dragons will not allow me to move them up further. Wins in the next two weeks will, however, move them up significantly.
-What has changed?: Schedule definitely got tougher in the last three weeks, and they turned away all challengers. If they beat Oslo in two weeks then their record will be confirmed and they can take their rightful spot at #1.
-Prediction: Conference championship contender.

3. Dresden Destroyers (Previous: 2)
-What was said about them?: Still think they are one of the top teams in Alpha, and that their loss to Tulsa can be chalked up to the attrition that is A4 Alpha. If they had won that game they would have a lock on the top spot now, but they do not so they stay in second. Their gritty win over Ayrshire really helped them out.
-What has changed?: A couple of small breaks in their game against Stockholm and they would be the ones at #1 on this list. Big game against the Assassins up next, but like Tulsa, after this week it is smooth sailing until week 13.
-Prediction: Conference championship contender.

4. Oslo Norsemen (Previous: 1)
-What was said about them?: Nothing has changed, beat up on three Alpha patsies, and after a test this week against the Magic Dragons, have two more patsies in a row. Not sold on having them in the top spot, and this position is far from secure from them. Stumble against the Magic Dragons and watch how far and how fast they tumble. That being said they have shown no signs of not being the top team in Alpha.
-What has changed?: Lost a game they couldn't afford to lose, and now the cheap wins are over, and the tough games begin. So far this team hasn't beaten a single playoff contender, and they have seven of their next eight against teams I project to fight it out for the playoffs. Must win game against Ayrshire that they need to stay afloat, because after that it is Stockholm and Barcelona back to back, and they close their season out with four games in a row against top teams.
-Prediction: Top four contender.

5. Amsterdam Red Lights (Previous: 4)
-What was said about them?: Followed the Dresden loss up with a loss to Tulsa, who then went out and beat Dresden as well. Good week for Tulsa, bad week for Amsterdam, although they did stick it to two lesser Alpha teams afterwards. Two more free wins and then the battle for Amsterdam commences.
-What has changed?: Won more than bragging rights in their battle against the Magic Dragons, they picked up a crucial tiebreaker and kept their winning streak alive. Moved them down a spot, but that was more to do with Stockholm's prowesses than Amsterdam's shortcomings. Should cruise through the next couple of games.
-Prediction: Top four contender.

6. Amsterdam Magic Dragons (Previous: 7)
-What was said about them?: Look to have righted their ship, with a close loss to Stockholm followed by two excellent wins for playoff position over Turff and Barcelona. A win over Madrid in week 7 punches their ticket, but they are about to embark on a brutal schedule that means they might not see a win for several games.
-What has changed?: Beat Madrid and Oslo, and fought the Red Lights almost to a stalemate, but couldn't hold on. That's as tough a stretch as anyone, and they gave Oslo and Madrid their only losses. No forseeable way this team misses the playoffs, so don't fret rod. A win against Tulsa would be a great statement, and could inject them back in to top four discussion.
-Prediction: Playoffs.

7. Barcelona Assassins (Previous: 9)
-What was said about them?: That win against Bolderslev looks horrendous right now, whereas three games ago it looked good. That speaks to how bad Bolderslev is, and how much more Barcelona should have beaten them by. Crushing loss to the Magic Dragons costs them what could amount to be a crucial tiebreaker in the race for the last Alpha playoff spot. Schedule really toughens up in week seven.
-What has changed?: Big, big win against Ayrshire means they hold a tiebreaker over them that probably means Barcelona is a playoff lock. Missed PAT away from sending Stockholm to overtime, and a much different seeding picture. In the end though, losses are losses, and that misstep against the Magic Dragons is big as far as tiebreakers are concerned. A win against either Oslo or Dresden coming up could spell moving up in the rankings, but short of that I think they will stay in this spot for a few more weeks.
-Prediction: Playoffs.

8. Madrid Pirates (Previous: 8)
-What was said about them?: Enigmatic team. Only team to have beaten Tulsa, who beat two of the top teams in Alpha, but also barely beat Helsinki, who is too far out to make the playoffs already. Which Madrid will show up against the Magic Dragons in week seven, and most importantly which Madrid will show up for their inhumane end of the season stretch.
-What has changed?: Lost to the Magic Dragons, but kept it respectable. If they can beat Ayrshire in week 10, it basically ends the playoff picture in Alpha with Madrid in the field. If they lose, the situation becomes much more interesting.
-Prediction: Playoff contender.

9. The Drunken Potato Farmers of Ayrshire (Previous: 6)
-What was said about them?: Two cake wins over awful teams, and then a close loss to Dresden that could have gone either way. Sit respectably in the 6th spot, with three of their next four games being crucial to determine their seeding. Beat Helsinki and Barcelona and they can punch a playoff ticket in their first season up in A4, beat Stockholm as well and they can start thinking home game.
-What has changed?: Tough, tough losses to Barcelona and Stockholm probably end their playoff hopes. They need to not only beat Madrid in my opinion, but steal a game from one of either Oslo, Amsterdam, or Tulsa to make the field of eight. It wouldn't surprise me if they could do it, but week 10 absolutely makes or breaks their season.
-Prediction: Playoff contender.

10. Helsinki Hitmen (Previous: 10)
-What was said about them?: Almost nipped Madrid, but that was the high point of the last three games. Needed to win one of them to ensure that they have a chance at the playoffs, and they didn't so now I think it is too late for the Hitmen, start working on your stadium and wait 'til next year.
-What has changed?: Crushed by Dresden, and in turn crushed two teams much worse than they are. Let up three to the Storm, gasp!
-Prediction: Outside looking in.

11. Newcastle Magpies (Previous: 13)
-What was said about them?: New name, same awful team.
-What has changed?: Signs of life against Turff, and in close losses to Oslo and Madrid, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
-Prediction: Outside looking in.

12. Hell on Turff (Previous: 11)
-What was said about them?: Didn't just lose to the Magic Dragons, they got shitstomped. That shows me that Turff isn't ready to compete with teams like that for the last playoff spots.
-What has changed?: Lost to the Magpies, and badly, in a game they just couldn't lose. Loss to Ayrshire confirms their spot.
-Prediction: Outside looking in.

13. Louisville Cards (Previous: 12)
-What was said about them?: Non-respectable losses to Barcelona and the Turff, but not the worst loss ever to Oslo. The teams below them are playing worse so they stay put.
-What has changed?: Keeps getting killed by the top teams in Alpha. A slight schedule repreive might net them a win or 2.
-Prediction: Bottom third.

14. Palmetto Gamecocks (Previous: 14)
-What was said about them?: Tulsa up next, Dresden in two weeks. Seven losses in Alpha means staying home.
-What has changed?: Should get a win this week at least.
-Prediction: Bottom third.

15. Arlington Avalanche (Previous: 15)
-What was said about them?: Three awful losses in a row to good teams.
-What has changed?: Probably will only win one game all year.
-Prediction: Bottom third.

16. Stockholm Storm (Previous: 16)
-What was said about them?: Still slowbuilding.
-What has changed?: Still slowbuilding.
-Prediction: Bottom third.

ZETA

Krakow locks up the #1 seed pretty much with their win over Newark. A win over Jacksonville locks up their 16-0 season. Not bad for week eight. Monte Carlo plays themselves into the playoffs which says more about how unbelievably awful Zeta is outside of the top five than about Monte Carlo itself. The Wall knocks off Newark, but still can't crack the top five, and will need help to do so.

1. Krakow Knights (Previous: 2)
-What was said about them?: Their win over Lyon looks better now that Lyon scraped by Jacksonville. Just like Newark, the waiting until week eight must be unbearable, but they get their crack at the Wall a week after Newark does.
-What has changed?: Dominated The Wall, who knocked off Newark, and then took care of Newark themselves. What does that mean? Barring a week 10 upset by Jacksonville (I'm not seeing it) Krakow has Zeta locked up.
-Prediction: Conference champion.

2. Lyon Winemakers (Previous: 3)
-What was said about them?: Clinched their home game for all intents and purposes with the win over Jacksonville. Should win out until their showdown with Newark in week 16.
-What has changed?: Feasting on the bottom of Zeta for a while, until they meet up with The Wall and Newark to close out the season.
-Prediction: Top four.

3. Jacksonville Jackalopes (Previous: 4)
-What was said about them?: Beaten in a very close game by Lyon, which costs them ground in the seeding race. Looks to gain some of it back in weeks nine and ten.
-What has changed?: Took care of a frisky Wall team who beat Newark, and has all but locked up a home game. A win against Krakow in week ten would make for interesting tiebreaking scenarios potentially in Zeta.
-Prediction: Top four.

4. Newark Nomads (Previous: 1)
-What was said about them?: Will get something of a test against the Wall in week six, but it is their showdown for first place in week eight that must have Newark drooling (or worrying?).
-What has changed?: Was more than a test, it was a massacre, but the wrong way. The Wall snuck up and stole one from Newark, and then they fell again to Krakow. Right now their tiebreaker situation does not look very good, and an absolutely essential game against Jacksonville is up next.
-Prediction: Top four contender.

5. The Berlin Wall (Previous: 5)
-What was said about them?: Good old fashioned awful team beatdowns provided the offense with some spark. Lets see if they can sustain it through their murderous three game stretch coming up.
-What has changed?: A little of everything for them in their last three games. Big upset win, crushing loss, and scrappy hard fought defeat. By virtue of their week one loss will probably still miss out on a home game, this team is hoping for both Jacksonville and Lyon to beat Newark.
-Prediction: Top four contender.

6. Victoria Assassins (Previous: 6)
-What was said about them?: At 1-4 still have nothing to worry about, as their schedule greatly eases up. Must win game against Monte Carlo in a few weeks.
-What has changed?: 1-4 quickly became 4-4, and their playoff footing secured with their win over Venice. A week nine win will lock up the 6th seed, but a loss won't hurt because no matter who they play in round 1, they aren't winning it.
-Prediction: Playoffs.

7. Monte Carlo Red Glare (Previous: 9)
-What was said about them?: Their weeks eight and nine games define their season, if they can't win one of them they won't make the playoffs probably.
-What has changed?: Took care of their own business in week eight, and watched as the teams ahead of them faltered. Venice losing was key, as it will probably mean that they get to avoid Krakow in round one.
-Prediction: Playoffs.

8. Venice Freebirds (Previous: 8)
-What was said about them?: Their win against MCRG is still holding up, and is their tiebreaker.
-What has changed?: Lost to the Stockholm Assassins, so their situation looks much more precarious and their tiebreaker is moot.
-Prediction: Playoff contender.

9. Stockholm Assassins (Previous: 11)
-What was said about them?: CPU players + lack of other talent = Bottom third.
-What has changed?: Win over Venice makes the shitty bottom of the Zeta bracket at least interesting for another couple of weeks. This team now has an outside shot at the playoffs.
-Prediction: Playoff contender.

10. Bolderslev Pirates (Previous: 7)
-What was said about them?: I am no longer certain about their shot at a playoff berth, which says a lot about Zeta that a team playing this bad can even consider the playoffs as an end destination.
-What has changed?: This team straight up needs a miracle to make the playoffs now. This team is horrible and keeps losing games it shouldn't lose, and almost lost to fucking Bordeaux.
-Prediction: Outside looking in.

11. Berlin Spartans (Previous: 13)
-What was said about them?: Beat the CPU 404 then lost twice in a row badly.
-What has changed?: Move up the rankings by virtue of a 1 point win against Arlanda. Man Zeta sucks.
-Prediction: Bottom third.

12. Arlanda Jets (Previous: 10)
-What was said about them?: Still remain the least bad of all the teams in Zeta with no chance.
-What has changed?: No longer considered the least bad Zeta team.
-Prediction: Bottom third.

13. Bordeaux Carlin (Previous: 12)
-What was said about them?: Beat Achei to move them up and Achei down.
-What has changed?: Could have had a nice win if they beat Bolderslev, now they have no shot at a .500 record.
-Prediction: Bottom third.

14. Achei Crotone (Previous: 14)
-What was said about them?: Still inactive, still sucks.
-What has changed?: Checked in, then went inactive again. Still sucks.
-Prediction: Bottom third.

15. Chrulle Mavericks (Previous: 16)
-What was said about them?: CPU.
-What has changed?: Beat Atlanta in the CPU Bowl.
-Prediction: Bottom third.

16. Atlanta 404 (Previous: 15)
-What was said about them?: CPU.
-What has changed?: CPU.
-Prediction: Bottom third.

Looks nice! Alpha is close. Many of the top teams have each other coming up in the next few weeks!

Hopefully my Red Lights can stay clean and get home field advantage.

id say there are 3-4 teams in alpha that will not make the playoffs that would in zeta, sad but true! top teams in zeta would probably be the top teams in alpha though, i truly believe that.

Nice job goldie. Makes the Dynamite loss a bit better to swallow.

GG to the dynamites. I would actually feel worse if the sim had screwed you out of the time to kick that FG, or made the FG a missed FG. THen it went into overtime and we won the toss.

That is a glimmer of hope that GLB is becoming better in terms of simming. ANd it was as close as a cunt hair!!! So good prediction goldie.

Yeah, the XP miss had to have been bitter for you guys. Dynamites might have to use the cunt hair reference on a regular basis.
